Larry Moss had called Ethan Kanin to tell him about Senator Mayer's death and to tell him that Jack Bauer was the main suspect. Kanin was the one who authorized Jack Bauer's release, so he realized that he was to blame. He told President Taylor that he would be a liability to her so he needed to resign to prevent damage to her administration.

She tried to talk him out of it, but she ended up accepting his resignation.

Answer: They bribed the night watchman.

Jack Bauer and Tony Almeida had arrived at the yard before Hodges' men, and the night watchman told them that he was being paid to open the gate for the men; they had told him they were picking up an electronics shipment. When the men arrived, Bauer told the watchman to let them in.

After the men found the container with the weapon, one of them went to kill the watchman, but Bauer rescued him.

Answer: Olivia Taylor

After Ethan Kanin left his office, Olivia Taylor called Ken Dellao and told him to run the story about Kanin --- turns out she had been the one who leaked the information about Kanin's involvement in releasing Jack Bauer. She told Dellao about the death of Senator Mayer and told him to get it on the evening news.

Answer: He was exposed to the biological agent.

During the shoot-out at the customs yard, the truck with the weapon started to leave. Jack Bauer climbed on top of some containers and jumped on the truck. He took control of it after knocking out the driver. He was heading to a weigh station where he had told Larry Moss to meet him with a hazmat team when an alarm went off in the back of the truck. Bauer checked it and found that one of the containers was damaged and was releasing the toxin.

He shut it off but was exposed to it.

Answer: They attacked Bauer and carried it off by helicopter.

After Bauer had stopped the truck to fix the damaged container, he was fired upon from a helicopter and from a vehicle coming up behind him. He had to run for cover, and the Starkwood employees rolled the weapon out of the truck, hooked it to the helicopter and flew it off.

Answer: He was taken hostage.

Jack Bauer and Tony Almeida had a plan to get the weapon, but Bauer wanted to save the night watchman, so they had to use "plan B". Bauer stole the truck with the weapon while Almeida kept the Starkwood employees busy in a firefight, but they eventually captured Almeida.

Answer: Olivia Taylor asked him to be her personal agent.

Aaron Pierce was the one who had brought Olivia Taylor back to Washington D.C. as a favor to Bill Buchanan. Pierce had been with Taylor during the siege on the White House and had been shot while trying to protect her. The president had asked her daughter to be the temporary Chief of Staff, so Olivia Taylor asked Pierce if he would stay to be her personal agent.

Answer: Jonas Hodges' assistant, Greg Seaton

Jonas Hodges had told Stokes to interrogate Tony Almeida, but Almeida wasn't talking so Stokes was going to kill him. As Stokes aimed the gun, Hodges' assistant, Greg Seaton, shot Stokes and rescued Almeida. He told Almeida that he was disturbed by Jonas Hodges' actions, and he didn't want to be involved any further. Seaton said he would tell Almeida where the weapons were in exchange for immunity. Almeida contacted Larry Moss, who arranged for the president to sign an immunity agreement.

Answer: He didn't know when Bauer's symptoms would start to show.

Jack Bauer had tested positive for a biological agent which usually killed within days. Although he wasn't contagious and appeared healthy, the symptoms could show at any time, and Larry Moss told Bauer that he could be a risk to the operation. Bauer realized that Moss was correct and stayed behind to monitor the operation from the FBI office with Renee Walker.

Answer: Nothing -- they had been duped.

Starkwood employee Greg Seaton had agreed to lead Tony Almeida, Larry Moss and the government troops to the warehouse that contained the biological weapon in exchange for immunity. It was a ruse, however; Seaton was deliberately leading them to an empty warehouse on the other side of the base so that the Starkwood employees could continue working on the weapon.
