Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As Jackie and Dan hooked the VCR up to the Conner TV, Roseanne walked in carrying food from where (as seen on the food bag)?

Answer: Chicken Divine

Roseanne: "God, if my boss calls me doll one more time, I'm gonna deep fry his face."
Roseanne was working at Chicken Divine at the time. She continued to hold this job for a total of nine episodes. After that quote, Roseanne went on to tell Jackie and Dan she hated her boss and hoped he never graduated from high school. In episode thirteen, we got to meet her boss Brian.
2. Jackie was very concerned with making sure she had her soap opera taped the entire time she was at police training. According to Dan, what were the only two things that happened on a soap opera?

Answer: people got pregnant and/or died

After he said it, Roseanne remarked that was true, because soaps were based on real life. Jackie claimed that the "people of Bay Gardens Medical Center" were her family. She seemed intrigued that a character named Alyssa may be institutionalized on the show.
This episode was one of the ones written by future "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator/writer/producer Joss Whedon. Joss also wrote the 2012 films, "The Avengers" and "The Cabin in the Woods".
3. Did Roseanne want to go home with Jackie and help her get ready to leave for police training the next day?

Answer: Yes

Jackie tried to gently dissuade Roseanne before she admitted she really just wanted to be by herself that evening.
Roseanne: "Oh you mean like alone? I remember that. That's what I was before you were born."
4. Who claimed that they didn't get invited to parties because he/she had "dishpan hands"?

Answer: Darlene

Roseanne was making Darlene take Becky's turn at the dish washing because Becky had to get ready to go to a party. Darlene made this comment afterward, and Roseanne said to Darlene "you're only 13, did you think your looks would last forever?" This negates the age Darlene was introduced at in season one.

She was said to be 11 only a year prior. Becky admitted she was 14 in this episode, making the girls now basically one year apart.
5. Becky and Darlene decided to pretend that Darlene was Becky's rich cousin, _____, from Chicago at the party they were attending.

Answer: Vivian

Since her friend Diane was not going to the party with her, Becky asked Darlene to come along. Darlene was a bit skeptical about going to a party where no one would know who she was, so they came up with a little story to explain her identity.
6. Whose quote was, "I guess Darlene didn't get any"?

Answer: Dan

When the girls got home from their party, Darlene came in to her parents' room to complain about Becky kissing a guy all night. After she left their room, Dan said the quote to Roseanne. Roseanne went upstairs to check on her daughters. It was Jimmy Meltrigger Becky kissed all night. Though he did not appear in this episode, actor Stephen Dorff played Jimmy in three episodes of the series.
7. Becky told her mom that a boy at the party asked for Darlene's phone number.

Answer: True

His name was Warren Marshall. When Darlene asked which one he was, Becky said it was the one they called "man dingo". Actress Lecy Goranson had to practically bite her cheek to stop from laughing when she said it, though I'm not sure at the time she knew what it truly meant.
8. Who read the letter that Roseanne wrote to Jackie before she left for training?

Answer: Jackie

Jackie would be gone for six weeks, plus three days of orientation, and Roseanne was extremely saddened by her impending departure. She'd already written Jackie a letter, which Jackie began reading immediately. They cried together.
9. What was Roseanne doing, by way of housework, when Becky and Darlene left to go to the mall near the end of the episode?

Answer: vacuuming

She offered to drive them, but they said they'd take the bus instead. Then, DJ came in and said he was going over to Joey's house to play. Dan was heading out to Budget Club, and Roseanne grumpily dismissed him. He intervened in her bad mood by telling her it was too bad if she was going to act that way the entire time Jackie was away.
10. Near the end of the episode, did Dan and Roseanne sing to each other?

Answer: Yes

Trying to cheer her up, Dan began singing "I Got You Babe". Since that song is a duet, Roseanne joined in and they sang to each other. The song was originally recorded by Sonny and Cher in 1965. This episode ended with the audience listening to Roseanne's thoughts as she tried to compose another letter to her sister.
