Nader, born on February 19th, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri was cast as Dimitri Marick on "AMC" for the Summer of 1991. Dimitri came on the scene when Natalie needed to be rescued from death and instantly became popular. Prior to Nader's hiring, he portrayed Farnsworth "Dex" Dexter on the primetime soap opera, "Dynasty."

Michael Nader, the original Dimitri, had run into some legal problems in early 2001 so the show made a quick recast in Anthony Addabbo. Addabbo, born on September 14th, 1960 in Coral Gables, Florida portrayed Dimitri from April to July of 2001 when Dimitri was written out.

It was hinted that Addabbo was given his walking papers since "AMC" fans had trouble accepting him as a Dimitri recast (Nader was a fan favorite).

Dimitri tended to Natalie after he rescued her from the well and they soon fell in love. Dimitri proposed to Natalie, in 1992, and she accepted his engagement. However, Dimitri's first wife, Angelique Voynitzeva, was still alive and had been assumed to have died in a car accident fifteen years prior. Dimitri was still legally married to Angelique because of this.

One day, Erica collapsed and claimed it was due to being overworked while hosting "The Cutting Edge" (The show was filmed at the WRCW station). Dimitri went to talk to Liza, one day, in an effort to get her to grant Erica vacation. Liza said vacations were scheduled in advance and Erica needed to come speak to her about taking some time off. Dimitri and Liza continued to bicker and could not find common ground over Erica's situations.

One day, in the Spring of 1997, Erica was out walking Maddie Grey (this was when Erica passed off Maddie as "Sonya Kane", a baby she adopted in Russia) and Dimitri was out driving. Dimitri was charged with reckless endangerment along with leaving the scene of an accident but he never served time for any of those charges.
