Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As the episode begins Lisa is busy baking in the kitchen as she prepares to take a gift to her teacher. What is Lisa making?

Answer: Cupcakes

Lisa has a batch of cupcakes in the oven that both Bart and Homer are craving, however Lisa is resolute that she's taking them in for her teacher. Bart accuses her of being a "teacher's pet", "apple polisher" and a "butt-kisser" which doesn't help his cause to get a cupcake.
2. Lisa takes her gift to school but before she can even get inside her box of presents are taken from her and crushed on the ground. Bart tries to attack the perpetrator but the main school bully Nelson intervenes to help his fellow bully. During the scuffle what happens to Nelson?

Answer: Nelson's nose gets bloodied

Bart is swinging wildly trying to defend the honour of his sister (or possibly trying to defend the fallen cupcakes) and as Nelson steps in to help out the bully who destroyed the cupcakes Bart catches him with a punch. Nelson doesn't notice at first (he assumes it's Bart's blood that has splashed on him) but when he finds his own nose bleeding he simply threatens "I'll get you after school, man."
3. Bart spends the remainder of the school day worrying about what's going to happen to him. First he daydreams that Nelson is a fearsome giant immune to knives and machine gun fire who eats Bart. A second daydream later in the day depicts Bart at his own what?

Answer: Funeral

Bart sees himself lying in a casket due to the beating Nelson has given him. Attendees at the dream funeral include Otto and Principal Skinner (who admires how well his face has been recreated), Homer (who is happy to have been given the day off work), Marge, Lisa with a cupcake that she lays on Bart's body and Nelson who eats the cupcake and gives Bart one more punch.
4. Nelson waits for Bart by the flagpole at 3:15 (a time and place passed on to Bart by one of Nelson's cronies) but Bart attempts to sneak past him. Bart doesn't succeed though as Nelson sees him and the beating begins. Does Bart get a punch in before Nelson beats him up?

Answer: No

Nelson commands Bart to "put 'em up!" which Bart quickly does, but his act of surrender is met by a punch from Nelson. After his beating Bart ends up being sent home in a trash can with Nelson promising "I'm going to get you again tomorrow, Simpson!". Bart is thrown down a hill in the trash can which somehow manages to stop perfectly at the Simpsons' house.
5. Bart is bruised and battered from his encounter with Nelson and when he returns one of his parents is concerned about his appearance whilst the other attempts to cheer Bart up by drying his tears with a hairdryer. Which parent utilises the hairdryer as a parenting technique, Homer or Marge?

Answer: Homer

Homer initially shows no concern for Bart but after some encouragement from Marge he tries to comfort his son by drying his tears with hot air. When Marge suggests that Bart tell a teacher, Homer is quick to stop him. "And violate the code of the schoolyard? I'd rather Bart die!"
6. Homer attempts to teach Bart how to defend himself by having him attack a punching bag with Nelson's face crudely painted on it. Homer teaches Bart a few Simpson fighting trademarks. Which of these is not one of them?

Answer: Bite his fingers

Homer's fight training isn't the most technically-sound, but I suppose it would be effective if slightly immoral. It also requires the fight to take place in an area with mud available.
7. Nelson starts a fight with Bart again the next day at which point Bart tries to utilise his new techniques. They don't work, and Nelson pummels him once again. Lisa suggests that Bart seeks advice from Grampa, but even the eldest Simpson is a victim of bullies. Who does Grampa suggest that Bart should ask for help?

Answer: Herman

Grandpa takes Bart to Herman's Military Antique Shop to formulate a plan to get back at Nelson. Herman immediately devises a war-like plan to force Nelson into surrender, going as far as writing a declaration of war to make it "nice and legal".
8. Bart enlists the help of all the children who have been bullied by Nelson throughout the year as part of his revenge mission, leading them on a training camp normally reserved for the army. What one thing does Bart do which Grampa is quick to tell him he can't do again?

Answer: Slaps one of his "recruits"

Grampa immediately admonishes Bart for hitting one of his recruits after the recruit gets scared by a dog. "Sorry, Bart. You can push them out of a plane, you can march them off a cliff, you can send them off to die on some God-forsaken rock, but for some reason you can't slap them."
9. Bart's war plan involves a "saturation bombing" of Nelson with water balloons, making sure that every possible escape route for Nelson and his cronies is blocked. Despite their evil intentions what text is written on all of the water balloons?

Answer: Happy Birthday

Bart buys 200 balloons from the Kwik-E-Mart and whilst Herman would like them to say "Death From Above" they instead all say "Happy Birthday". The plan works to perfection; the bullies get trapped by a "pincer movement" and Nelson is defeated and captured.
10. Back at the Simpson house an armistice is written up to bring the "war" to an end, and the new rulings protect Bart from Nelson causing him further harm. The episode ends but Bart has one last thing to say. "Contrary to what you've just seen, war is neither glamorous nor fun. There are no winners, only losers. There are no good wars, with the following exceptions: The American Revolution..." And which move franchise?

Answer: Star Wars

Marge makes some cupcakes to celebrate the occasion which I guess also brings the episode full circle. In a rare moment from "The Simpsons" Bart breaks the fourth wall by directly addressing the audience to speak about war. He ends by saying "If you'd like to learn more about war, there's lots of books in your local library, many of them with cool, gory pictures. Well, good night, everybody. Peace, man."
