Bart, sneaking through his parents' bedroom, nabs Homer's loose change jar just as Homer witnesses the theft. What follows is a race through the house and out the garage door where Bart catches the school bus and Homer, in his underwear, wield a rake and yells from the lawn. Bart sits down next to Milhouse on the bus and finds that his friend has purchased a Magic 8-Ball. Bart asks if he'll pass his English test and receives a sure-to-be-true answer, but when he asks if he and Milhouse will be friends by the time their old...and in high school...and at the end of the day, he only receives 'no' answers.

At the same time, a new girl named Samantha Stanky transfers to Springfield Elementary and, after a quick check of her permanent record to discover that she isn't a problem-student, Principal Skinner ends up setting her up in Ms. Krabappel's classroom where, to alleviate any stress, he mispronounces her last name as Stinky and her new teacher forces her to tell the class a bit about herself (while grading her on grammar and poise).

Her family came from Phoenix to capitalize on the city's high crime rate.

It doesn't take long for Milhouse and Samantha to meet out on the schoolyard; she accidentally hits him in the head with a dodgeball and Milhouse quickly becomes infatuated. It's utter coincidence when they return to class and Ms. Krabappel is ready to show a sexual education video to her fourth graders. Featuring Troy McClure, the video includes a 1971 educational classic, 'Fuzzy Bunny's Guide to You-Know-What'.

Bart finds that something is awry when Milhouse purposely doesn't take the bus home from school; he's too busy walking Samantha home. Matters are further complicated when Milhouse invites Samantha to Bart's treehouse without asking, and Bart has a possible no-girls-allowed policy.

He decides to make do and goes into the house to retrieve some girl comics from Lisa's room. When he returns though, Milhouse and Samantha are kissing.

Homer ends up watching a "Nightline" report about obesity in America while Lisa overhears and, fearing for her father's health and life, she decides she needs to help him out and spare him from an early death at the hand of fatty foods. She ultimately comes across a magazine ad for Dr. Marvin Monroe's Subliminal Tape Club, which offers a way to lose weight while Homer is sleeping via subliminal thought.
Bart, meanwhile, tries to distract Milhouse from spending time with Samantha but only gets his attention after the girl leaves.

Answer: His vocabulary

Marge ends up getting onto the phone as soon as possible to order the tapes Lisa recommends and, as it turns out, there are numerous subliminal tapes out there, all promoting different skills you can acquire without even being awake. When she places the order, it turns out that the weight loss tapes are out of stock. Marge doesn't know it, but Homer is sent a vocabulary builder instead.

He spends his nights not losing weight, but enhancing his lexicon.

Bart soon starts avoiding the treehouse; even when he's not outside playing, Milhouse and Samantha use it as a hiding spot to get away from her parents, who still aren't aware of the existence of her new boyfriend. The next day, on the bus, Bart finds that his old seat next to Milhouse is taken and, angrily, he's forced to sit next to Martin Prince. Bart takes a bit of a dive and tries to be his friend, but it doesn't take long before he's forced to run away.

Answer: Space mutants

Bart continues to be a third wheel, being present for pretty much every activity with Milhouse and Samantha despite his obvious disinterest in their relationship. Going with them to the Springfield Googolplex Theater to watch 'Space Mutants VII', he was witness to the two of them bonding over a particularly scary scene.

After, he suggests going off to spit on Principal Skinner's car, Milhouse says there might be such a thing as spending too much time together, so Bart admits that he's tired of watching the two of them lock lips and decides to leave. Milhouse finds him starting to cry in an alleyway and asks if they can still use his treehouse. Bart says it's okay, but it's clear he has ulterior motives.

Bart decides to pull through on his decision to sabotage Milhouse's relationship and, after calling Samantha's father, an emotional result is had. Samantha is whisked away, never to see Milhouse again. Bart can only suggest that he and his best friend head to the arcade and forget it all ever happened.
Lisa ends up waking up Homer the next day so that they can determine whether or not he lost weight on his tape plan. As they discover, he gained thirteen pounds. Homer tosses out the tape, and none of them realize they had the wrong recordings all along.

Answer: At a new school

Bart confides in Lisa about lying to Milhouse and she recommends confessing the truth to him. When he goes to Milhouse's place though, he doesn't seem to help too much. Bart admits the truth, but all that happens is a major fight between the two friends ending with Bart smacking Milhouse in the head with the magic 8-ball. Soon, the two of them visit Samantha's new all-girls school, Saint Sebastian's School for Wicked Girls, to see her one last time.

As it turns out though, Samantha loves it at the new school, and Milhouse is able to begin moving on.

The boys head out to whip eggs at old people.
