Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Apparently, Jimmy's coffee-spilling routine didn't fool the Philadelphia detective for very long - he knew that Jimmy and Mike had conspired to take his notepad. What excuse did Jimmy provide for having the notepad?

Answer: They found it in the parking lot.

The episode began with Jimmy and Mike sitting on a bench beneath a rogue's gallery of wanted pictures in the courthouse. Detectives Abbasi and Sanders appeared; Abbasi was irate and threatened to take both of them into custody. Jimmy told the detective that they just now had found the notepad in the parking lot as they were coming to meet with the detectives.

When Abbasi told Mike "wait 'til I get you back to Philadelphia", Jimmy intervened, "I'm confused. The State of Pennsylvania can extradite people for returning lost property?" After Abbasi left, Mike told Jimmy thanks and that he could leave, and then Mike and Detective Sanders sat and chatted.

They were apparently old friends. Sanders told him that if Mike's daughter-in-law had nothing to tell them that it would be the end of it, so he advised Mike to talk to her, but Mike said he was leaving it up to her. Sanders clearly believed that Mike was guilty ("[Abbasi] needed to learn that some rocks you don't turn over"), but he wasn't going to do anything about it.
2. When Jimmy stopped by to see Chuck, Chuck wasn't in his house. Where did Jimmy find him?

Answer: Standing in his backyard

Jimmy was surprised to find Chuck standing in his backyard without his space blanket to protect him. Chuck told Jimmy that he wanted to get better and that he had gradually been increasing the amount of time that he could stand outside to build up a tolerance to electromagnetism.

Besides dropping off ice ("It's me, your friendly neighborhood iceman!"), Jimmy had an alternative reason for stopping by - he wanted to leave some boxes of files at Chuck's house because he claimed he didn't have room for them at his office.

He appeared to be trying to get Chuck interested in legal work again. Jimmy told Chuck that he needed to file Form 413 for the clients, and Chuck corrected him, telling him it was Form 513. Jimmy then watched through the window as Chuck started looking at the files.
3. Jimmy tried to get Kim to join him at his law firm. What enticement did he offer her?

Answer: A corner office in a fancy building

Jimmy took Kim to see a large office suite that he was planning to rent. He showed her the room where he planned to have his office and then showed her the corner office with sweeping views of the city. She told him that he should make it his office, but he said that it was for his partner ("well you said you were interested in elder law").

She thanked him but turned him down, telling him that she was close to making partner at Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill and that she owed them for putting her through law school.

She then quickly changed the subject and told him she wanted to see the kitchen.
4. The Kettleman saga continued in this episode. After Kim Wexler explained their options to the Kettlemans and offered to give them a few minutes to talk it over, what was Betsy Kettleman's response?

Answer: "You're fired"

Kim Wexler told the Kettlemans that she had worked with the District Attorney to arrange a plea bargain of 16 months in a county facility as opposed to the thirty years in prison Craig Kettleman would likely get if the case went to trial. Kim added that Craig would need to admit his guilt and return the money, to which Betsy immediately retorted "there is no money, there never was, you have to take this to trial". Kim made a persuasive argument; Craig would likely lose at trial and spend decades in jail ("your kids would grow up seeing their dad through bars on visiting day").

She explained that if he took the deal, he'd be able to start again in two years and that it would be best for their family. But Betsy Kettleman was all about the money.

She had no intention of giving it back, so she told Kim that they didn't need time to think it over: "You're fired".
5. Apparently his advertising on Jell-O cups worked well so he tried it again. Where was Jimmy's "Need a will? Call McGill!" advertisement in this episode?

Answer: On Bingo cards

Not only was Jimmy running the Bingo game, his face and "Need a will? Call McGill!" logo were printed on the Bingo cards. Jimmy was still wearing his "Matlock" suit and catered the Bingo calling to his senior audience: "O-70! Seventy is a good age. G-48! 'G' as in Guy Lombardo", and when he had to step aside to take a phone call, he reminded the crowd that he was a lawyer by mentioning that it was for a legal matter.
6. When Jimmy called Kim from the diner restroom, to which television couple did he compare the Kettlemans?

Answer: Ned and Maude Flanders

Ned and Maude Flanders were the next-door neighbors to "The Simpsons". Perhaps Jimmy found the Kettlemans to be comically irritating like the Flanders. Betsy and Craig may have had the same initials as Bonnie and Clyde but master criminals they were not. They told Jimmy they left Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill because they were treated as if they were guilty, and they wanted to hire Jimmy on the condition that Craig wouldn't serve any jail time. Jimmy informed them that he handled elder law now, but Betsy mentioned that they had already paid him a retainer ("we're in this together, Mr. McGill"). Jimmy left to use the restroom in the middle of the conversation and called Kim: "I found something that belongs to you. Again... Picture "The 25th Hour" starring Ned and Maude Flanders". Kim immediately knew that he was talking about the Kettlemans.

By the way, the gentleman who was in the restroom with Jimmy was one of the workers who helped with the giant magnet in the "Live Free or Die" episode of "Breaking Bad". His name was Todd Sopher, and sadly, he died in October 2015. The first episode of season two of "Better Call Saul", "Switch", was dedicated to him.
7. What did Betsy Kettleman keep doing at the diner that really irritated Jimmy?

Answer: Denied there was any money

When Jimmy tried to convince the Kettlemans to return to Kim Wexler and accept the deal Kim had arranged, Betsy Kettleman stated that "There will be no deal. There's no money with which to make a deal". Jimmy stared at her: "Can we all three just parachute down from cloud cuckoo land because we know, without question, there IS money".

He reminded her about the "spirited game of tug-a-war" they had in the tent over the bag of money. The more she denied the existence of the money, the angrier he became, finally stating, "LADY, ENOUGH!" But Betsy got her point across; if the money had to be returned, it would ALL need to be returned, including the $30k they had given to him.
8. The jazzy montage sequence in this episode featured Mike on a stakeout at the Kettleman house. What was he eating while he waited?

Answer: Apples

Jimmy appeared to spend considerable time looking for a loophole to get Craig Kettleman acquitted, but he finally gave up and turned to Mike. He gave Mike a stack of the cash he'd received from the Kettlemans, which Mike was going to use to find the Kettlemans' hiding place. Mike sprayed the money with a substance that left marks that could be seen with a UV light and then left the cash on their patio in a toy truck.

He then watched from behind a fence until the bait was taken. While he waited, he pulled an apple from their tree and ate it, and by the time Craig Kettleman finally found the money, there was a line of apple cores on the fence.
9. Where did Mike find the money in the Kettlemans' house?

Answer: Under a false bottom in the bathroom vanity

After planting the tainted stack of cash on the Kettlemans' patio, Mike watched their house from behind their fence until everyone was asleep. He then broke into their house, and using a UV light, followed the marks made by the chemicals on the cash to an upstairs bathroom where he found the stash under the sink.

When Jimmy saw the cash, he said to Mike, "Thanks for not heading to the Bahamas with this". He then added his share of the money to the bag, telling Mike he was doing "the right thing".

After Jimmy confirmed that Mike knew where to take the money, Mike asked, "Am I right in assuming that we're now square?"
10. At the end of the episode, what happened to the Kettlemans?

Answer: They returned to Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill to accept a deal.

When Jimmy showed up at the Kettlemans' house to inform them that the money was on its way to the District Attorney, they (mainly Betsy) went ballistic. Betsy Kettleman first threatened to have Jimmy arrested for theft, until Jimmy questioned her logic, and then threatened to report Jimmy for taking the bribe, but he pointed out that doing so would implicate her in the conspiracy, and then both Kettlemans would end up in prison.

He told Betsy that she'd "probably end up running her own gang". Craig Kettleman finally made his wife realize that it was over, and Jimmy then drove both of them to Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill where Kim Wexler mouthed a grateful "thank you" to Jimmy.
