Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the machine used to disarm the briefcase at NYMEX?

Answer: SAVED

SAVED is an acronym for Safe Approach Vaporized Evidence Device, and when a security officer finds an unauthorized briefcase on the floor at NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange), they evacuate the floor. Mac is called in with the device, and using its devices, he takes a photo of a fingerprint on the case before shooting it in half. Within the briefcase, Mac finds a note with a drop of blood on it saying 'In case something happens to me', and when the fingerprint is matched, they find the case belonged to a commodities trader who worked at NYMEX called Luke Sutton. Sutton entered NYMEX that morning, but it is unknown if he left, because no one is required to use their key card to leave the building.
2. How many cigarettes were on the ground next to Katrina Rolston's body?

Answer: Three

Stella and Flack show up at a crime scene at a church to find a body lying in the grass. The victim, Katrina Rolson, has a rosary in her hands, and suicide is ruled out. The handyman patching up the roof claims to have found her body on the ground.
Meanwhile, while Mac and Aiden look through Sutton's apartment, they find metal shavings, a knife with blood on it, and a degausser which would work on a computer. There's one problem though, the hard drive for his computer is missing.
3. What substance is found in Luke Sutton's briefcase?

Answer: Cocaine

While searching through Sutton's briefcase, Mac finds traces of cocaine, and Danny finds that the victim was investigating illegal trades; particularly those made by a man named Nick Lawson. Using imported oil, he would generate a profit by cheating the system.

A few nights before the crime scene investigation began, Lawson threatened Sutton that he's send him to the hospital. Lawson tells Danny of a man named 'Charles', and no one seems to know exactly who he is.
4. Which trimester of pregnancy was Katrina in when she passed away?

Answer: First

After talking with the priest of the church that Katrina was working for, Stella finds out that Trina had no children, but was loved by the community for the work that he did. Dr. Hawkes tells Stella that Katrina was in her first trimester of pregnancy though, and because she had no immediate family, there was no one to inform. During Hawkes' investigation of the body, he noticed a chipped tooth as well as many shattered bones in the top half of Trina's body, indicating that she was probably dead or unconscious before the fall. Hawkes also notices that Katrina's spine is not connected to her spinal column. Stella later finds the chipped tooth in the church where the body was found along with a candlestick holding a strand of the victim's hair.
5. Whose prayer book does Stella find in the church?

Answer: Father Murphy's

After finding the murder weapon and the tooth in the church, Stella finds a prayer book in one of the pews containing a love letter. When she looks inside the front cover, she finds Father Murphy's name. Stella searches for the fingerprint on the candlestick and there is no match in the computer.

However, there is superglue on the murder weapon. Meanwhile, Mac gets a page from Aiden and they go to investigate Luke Sutton's car. The car, and Luke Sutton's body in the front seat, are both severely burnt. Hawkes finds that the body was doused in gasoline, and that there's also another flammable substance on Luke's shoes.

There's also a bullet in the victim's right side. The gun, along with a hard drive and a parking pass, are found in the car when Aiden and Danny check it.

The gun, found in the glove compartment, was responsible for the bullet in the victim's side because it shot when the fire spread to it.
6. Who is Emily Dent?

Answer: Luke Sutton's ex-girlfriend

When Aiden uses acid to find the serial number on the gun from the glove compartment, it is found to be registered under Emily Dent's name. Mac asks her a few questions on the street and she explains that Luke made her get a gun because Charles was after him.
Meanwhile, Stella finds a print in the prayer book that points to Father Murphy, who explains that the prayer book was his and that the candlestick on the ground was cracked because it broke and was being fixed with superglue.
7. What is true about the father of Trina Rolston's child?

Answer: He's a smoker

Using a paternity test from Hawkes, Stella and another CSI discover that the DNA from the cigarettes found near Trina's body all had DNA from a male donor, who is also the father of her child, but one cigarette also had Tina's DNA on it. The man responsible for these cigarettes is the handyman from the church. He kissed Trina and managed to get her DNA onto the cigarette.
On the other case, Mac takes the hard drive from Luke Sutton's car and begins to work on deciphering the code within its memory.
8. What is Charles' last name?

Answer: Langdon

After cracking into Luke Sutton's hard drive, Mac manages to find the message "three generations are enough". He also finds that Charles' last name is Langdon and that he was forcing Luke to give him $5,000. Using a parking ticket and an e-mail, the group goes to a warehouse to find Charles, but all they find is money, a half-filled pop can, and a couple of pieces of glass.
In the other case, Stella takes samples of materials in the handyman's clothes and processes them. One of these is a material called Clozapine, which was found in a pocket. This material is used in anti-psychotic, which shows that the handyman (Paul) is schizophrenic.
When the DNA from the pop can is processed, it is also from Paul the handyman. Now, Mac and Stella are on the same case.
9. Whose print was on the candlestick in the church?

Answer: Luke Sutton's

After recovering a Supreme Court briefing found in Sutton's apartment, Mac and Stella find that Luke was also schizophrenic, and that he and Paul were brothers. Also, Charles Langdon isn't a real person; he's just in Luke's mind. All of the mail relating to Charles Langdon were from the outgoing mailbox of Sutton's hard drive, but Mac didn't notice this while decoding.

He was the one that used the bullet reloader in the warehouse, and Paul was the one who left the pop can in the warehouse.
10. Paul the handyman killed Trina.

Answer: False

Luke killed Trina because she was carrying the fourth generation schizophrenic child (three generations is enough, right?), and after hitting her with the candlestick in the church, her took her to the roof and threw her over the edge. While on the newly-painted roof, he got a repairing material his shoe (which explains the other flammable substance). Luke destroyed his own apartment and attempted to destroy his hard drive, and he also wrote the note in his briefcase.

He was the one who burnt himself in his car because the voices in his head were overwhelming. Paul, on the other hand, was able to overcome his schizophrenia, and was not responsible for any of the events.
