He also threw an incredible sulk during the first week of the show when the housemates did not receive any diet cola, and refused to speak to anyone or take part in any tasks. John has a bit of a chest fixation, refering to his wife as Booby and naming his dog Double D.

The time they won from this game was how much time they had to complete the second part of their challenge. They then had to attempt to collect their weekly shopping using a mechanical digger to lift the shopping from one area of the garden to another. Goldie agreed to do the task. He emerged victorious by managing to acquire nearly 90% of the household shopping - including the toilet rolls!

Ivana entered the house via a magician's disappearing cabinet into which Lady Sovereign had entered and been 'disappeared' by American R&B singer Sisqo, playing the part of a magician. When he waved his wand to bring Lady Sovereign back and Ivana appeared instead, his face was a picture! Lady Sovereign's whereabouts were a puzzle to the housemates until she reappeared a little later.

The well known author and feminist found herself playing the role of cook in that task, with Kenzie as the minstrel, Caprice as the royal dresser and poor Brigitte playing the part of the royal bed and toilet seat warmer! Germaine had always said that she would never take part in a reality show such as "Big Brother", but was somehow talked into it. She did not stay long however, and requested to leave the house on January 11th, citing "Big Brother's" bullying towards some housemates as her reason. She was unhappy when the former mother-in-law of Brigitte, Jackie Stallone, became a suprise ninth member of the house. As Brigitte had not seen Jackie for twenty years since her marriage to Sylvester Stallone had ended, Germaine felt "Big Brother" had taken things a bit too far. A born-again Christian, Stephen was permitted by Big Brother to read his Bible for one hour a day, which was unusual as reading material is normally banned in the House with the exception of the 'Big Brother' rule book.

It had Alex kicking down a snowman his housemates had spent some time building, much to their dismay. It also promised Dane the reinstatement of privileges if he ruined dinner one night by supplying him with chili powder, but it was only when this failed and he was given another chance by faking a nightmare that he was successful in his task. Nicola won a message from home in her 'home truths' task by telling each housemate something about themselves they might have preferred not to hear, and Vinnie was able to watch a football match on television in the secret room by pretending to Alex that he liked cross-dressing, and also by pretending to show his emotions to his fellow housemates.
