Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. NBS and 'Studio 60' are being sued by a former writer, Karen Solisberg. Who is the lawyer representing for NBS?

Answer: Mary Tate

The lawyer from Gage Whitney is Mary Tate. Ainsley Hayes was a lawyer who appeared in 'West Wing'. British trivianuats may get the sugar references for Mary Lyle, and Mary Silver. (Tate and Lyle, Silver Spoon).
Mary Tate was played by TV Actress Kari Matchett, who reminded me of Emily Proctor (Ainsley Hayes of 'West Wing').
2. Jordan is pregnant, what was she using as a warm-up to mother hood?

Answer: A computerised baby doll

Jordan had bought the computerised baby doll at her pre-natal classes. The bag of sugar or flour is a popular substitute for a baby in many soaps or comedies, usually involving teenagers, at least twice in 'Neighbours', and also in '8 Simple Rules'.
3. Matt takes Mary down to the Writer's Room, and asks the question, "What is Samuel Taylor Coleridge's famous poem?" where Lucy answers with?

Answer: 'Ode to a Grecian Urn'

Lucy answers with 'Ode to a Grecian Urn' which according to Matt is the wrong answer. According to Matt the correct answer should be 'Kubla Kahn' as it was written at 4 in the morning after a dramatic dream. It is also incomplete, as Coleridge was interrupted whilst writing it down.

Matt asks Danny who wrote 'Kubla Kahn', and he replied that it was Gene Roddenbury!

The poems can be found via

4. Danny was having problems looking after the baby. Who did he get to sit the baby?

Answer: Tom and Simon

Tom and Simon were discussing the law suit and Simon's car when Danny found them. Matt and Mary were in Matt's office, whilst Dylan did not appear in this episode, Andy was in the writers room. Harriet and Luke were trying to make a movie.
5. After chopping off the doll's head with the guillotine, which guest did Cal say they were to use it on in the TV Show?

Answer: Renee Zellwegger

Renee Zellwegger does not appear in the show, but is mentioned by Cal as a future guest. Amy Davidson is from '8 Simple Rules', Elisabeth Moss played Zoey Bartlett in 'West Wing', whilst Anne Hathaway is from the film "The Princess Diaries". None of them appeared on 'Studio 60'.
6. Harriet is playing in a movie about Anita Von Pallenburg, where she is the long term girlfriend of which member of the Rolling Stones?

Answer: Keith Richards

OK, you will have realised that these are four members of the Rolling Stones. The scene that Harriet is trying to shoot is of her bed and snorting coke with one of the estate workers. The estate worker shoots himself with Anita's gun. This incident took place at Keith Richards' New England estate.

Although many people considered Anita to be a 'groupie', having enjoyed the company of both Mick and Brian, she spent 10 years with Keith Richards.
7. Continuity errors affect the count-down clock throughout the series. In this episode when Danny and Matt meet there are 20 hours left until dress. After Mary Tate leaves, Danny returns to the office. How much time is left?

Answer: 1 day 18 hours

At the start of the show the clock actually says 20 hr 28 minutes to go. At the end of the episode, after Mary Tate leaves there is a temporal displacement and there is 1 day 18 hours and 24 minutes to go.
8. Harriet is due to back at Studio 60 by 10pm. After her row with Luke at what time does she stop the filming?

Answer: 1a.m.

At the beginning of the show we are told that Harriet is running late. Luke is fed up with Matt, and keeps insulting him to Harriet. Harriet ends the filming after 3 hours of overtime, which Luke is using to annoy Matt.
Luke and Harriet then break up. 3 hours on 10p.m. makes it 1 a.m.
9. Matt has been working on this punchline for some time,"My God! Professor don't you see". How does he complete it?

Answer: "It's a single cell paramecium."

"It's a single cell paramecium" is a punch line that Matt has been working on all night. The other quotes that I hope fit are from '2001 a Space Odyssey', 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy', and by Olive Wendell Holmes. In searching for interesting wrong answers I discovered that single cell paramecium had also been used in 'West Wing'.
10. What kind of car does Simon Styles own?

Answer: Lincoln Navigator

Simon owns a Lincoln Navigator. Simon and Tom are discussing the Karen Solisberg law suit. Simon is worried that he may lose his car. Not his house or money, just his car. Simon thought he had slept with her on a couple of occasions. Simon is famous for his wandering eye.
