Clavor and Cargn cut off John's head when he's in statue form and throw it in a tub of acid and leave it to burn. Scorpius arrives and saves John from death, telling him that he had sampled his DNA when he was in the Aurora Chair and was able to track him using that. Scorpy is then shot by Jenavian, who takes John's head and puts it back where it belongs.

Tyno takes John's place, as he loves the princess, and since being incompatible with her DNA doesn't matter as she's pregnant already.
