John enters the negotiations wearing a bomb with a dead man's trigger. He tells them, "My heart stops, we all go boom. My heart speeds up, it's boom again. Too hot, too cold, too happy, too sad, thirsty, hungry, bored...It's John Lee Hooker time. Boom, boom, boom. And you try your little psycho trick, Kaboom! and we're all pushing up day-glo daisies." When the Scarran Emperor asks what John wants, he answers, "What do I want? What do I want? I have not been chasing my [butt] all over the galaxy trying to remove a chunk of my brain. I have not been sneaking fembots and skreeths into the places I live. You want something. You want what I know about wormholes because I can leap tall galaxies in a single bound, I can scorch planets with a wave of my hand, and you can't do jack. You can't and you won't, but I have. ...Because I am an American! And what does an American what? Democracy? Capitalism! I want to sell out and settle down. For one day only, it's a blue-light special on aisle three. My wormhole technology and a free set of steak knives for all the tea in China and anything you can imagine to pay me."

John puts a pebble under a cup next to two other cups and moves them around as Grayza offers John anything he can imagine in return for the wormhole knowledge. John tells her, "There's the rub. You see, I can't figure a way out of this situation. But - the first side that does, wins." He pushes the three cups to her and then leaves.

Part of the gang's plan is to start a civil war between the Charrids and the Kalish, and Sikozu is in charge of inciting the Kalish into fighting. She tries to talk to the Secretary in charge of the Kalish who do tech support for the Scarran empire, but she is left to talk with Zukash, an underling.

He won't listen either, but then Sikozu's eye turns in its socket, and then Zukash's eye does the same thing. Both are bioloids, and Zukash tells Sikozu he will help her start her riot.

After speaking with Grayza, John and Aeryn talk. Aeryn wonders if the bomb even works and it starts to beep as John stands close to her, prompting him to say, "It's working. Uh, oh, you are dangerous." Aeryn tells him, "Well, you better keep away then."

Answer: Stark

Scorpius is first interrogated by War Minister Ahkna, then she brings out Stark to break Scorpius and learn what he knows about wormholes. Stark seems to want revenge for his time spent being tortured by Scorpius in the Aurora Chair. Stark takes his mask off and shines the light on Scorpius, who screams in pain. Ahkna says, "I think this may have possibilities."

Answer: Castro

John and Aeryn enter the area where Scorpius is being tortured, Ahkna sending Stark off to hide. Ahkna, having no faith in the Emperor, thinks John's bomb is a bluff and uses her heat blast on him. John says, "Well, so much for nuclear deterrence. Get ready to kiss your [butt] good-bye Castro." In the end, Ahkna yields as the bomb beeps louder and louder. John asks Aeryn, "Just played a game of chicken. Did I win?" Aeryn says, "Just. This time."

Zukash stole the codes for a high security elevator that only the Charrids and Scarrans have access to, knowing that later the Kalish would be blamed and incite the Charrids and Kalish to fight. The area below contains flowers, Crystheriums, but is so well guarded it makes everyone wonder why. John and Aeryn go down to be found and on the trip down John has her stand on his feet and they dance, catching a moment of peace. They do start to make out amongst the flowers in the chamber below, but are interrupted by the guards.

Staleek sends Ahkna out, angry at her for her torture of Scorpius. When everyone has left, the two start talking, Staleek telling Scorpius they can't disarm John's bomb. Scorpius asks that John be brought to him, because John trusts him, more than even he realizes. Staleek wonders why he should trust Scorpius, and the half-Scarran replies, "I've served you for 10 cycles as a spy. Why would I betray you now?"

Answer: Let's get this riot started, I gotta 10 o'clock curfew

John comms his friends to see the progress on the riot as he tries to stay alive, saying "One riot well done and hold the mayo," and "Horseshoes and hand grenades - Now means now" when his riot doesn't start when he needs it. Later, just before the Charrids and Kalish start fighting, John says, "It's beer o'clock. Where the [heck] is my riot?"

Answer: Mr. Burns

John calls Emperor Staleek Santa Claus when he tells the Scarran in exchange for wormholes he wants to live like an emperor. During the escape, John and Scorpius are jumped by a Charrid, but Braca shoots the alien in the back with a nod to his old boss Scorpius. John says, "Yeah, feel the love Mr. Burns." He called Braca Smithers once as well, making a nice "Simpsons" connection between the two. Unfortunately the escape doesn't work since Scorpius tackles John before they can leave, and we're left with John's bomb beeping faster and faster. Fat Man and Little Boy are the names of the first nuclear bombs used in war.
