Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these was not the name of a character on the sitcom "WKRP in Cincinnati"?

Answer: Robbie Weekley

Featuring the staff of a stumbling rock station in Cincinnati, "WKRP in Cincinnati" lasted four seasons on CBS. Many of the plotlines and characters were created by Hugh Wilson, based off of his experience working as an advertising salesperson in Atlanta at WQKI.

The show did not become much of a success until it aired in syndication. A sequel called "The New WKRP in Cincinnati" aired from 1991-1993 but it had little success.
2. In "Home Improvement", what was the name of the show hosted by Tim Taylor?

Answer: Tool Time

"Tool Time" was the show-within-a-show that was hosted by Tim Taylor who had an assistant named Al Borland. As Tim explained in the premiere episode of "Tool Time", the show was about celebrating men and their tools. Each show would have a project that Tim and Al would work on, such as installing a home alarm system or performing car maintenance. Tim would usually be the accident-prone one of the show (usually because he wanted to use more power) and Al would explain the correct way of doing things. Tim would also use the show to discuss problems he had at home, usually fights he had with his wife, Jill.

However, he would also use the time to apologize for any insensitive comments he made about her during the show.
3. "What you're buying here are the ingredients for very expensive urine", Sheldon said to Penny on an episode of the "The Big Bang Theory" entitled "The Luminous Fish Effect". What was Penny buying?

Answer: vitamins

The quote made by Sheldon Cooper came from when Penny was buying vitamins.
Sheldon lost his job at CalTech after insulting his boss, Dr. Eric Gablehauser. Bored with staying at home, he tagged along with Penny when she went to the grocery store. He then proceeded to make a nuisance of himself by commenting on all of Penny's purchase of vitamins, so she told him that expensive urine was what she was going for.
4. What was the name of the small French town in which the British television series "Allo! Allo!" was set?

Answer: Nouvion

Written by the classic Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft combination, "Allo! Allo!" ran for nine series and 85 total episodes between 1982 and 1992. The story follows the staff at René Artois's café during the WWII Nazi occupation of France. The real town of Nouvion is located in the Somme department in northern France, ten miles north of Abbeville.
The three incorrect answers are three more communes in the Somme region.
5. In "How I Met Your Mother", Barney Stinson believed the host of which game show was his father?

Answer: The Price is Right

When Barney was young, he asked his mother who his father was, and she pointed to Bob Barker, who was on the television hosting an episode of "The Price is Right". Barney wanted to meet Bob, so he decided to try out to be a contestant on "The Price is Right".

He won his way on stage to play a pricing game called Clock Game. Barney spent most of the time on stage showing Bob pictures of Barney when he was young. Still, he managed to win his game. During the Showcase Showdown, Barney spun the Big Wheel and landed on $1.00 meaning he won a $1,000 bonus. During the Showcase, Barney bid exactly right on his showcase.

In the end, Barney decided not to reveal to Bob that Barney was his son.
6. In "Going Straight", the 1978 sequel to the classic TV sitcom "Porridge", what was the name of Fletch's son, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst?

Answer: Raymond

Written by Dick Clement & Ian La Frenais and first broadcast in 1978, there were only six episodes of "Going Straight". Although the series won a BAFTA and had huge audiences, hopes of a second and further series were curtailed by the premature death of actor Richard Beckinsale, who played Lenny Godber. Ronnie Barker continues the role as the recently-released Norman Stanley Fletcher, whilst Nicholas Lyndhurst (who would later star as Rodney in "Only Fools and Horses") played his son, Raymond.
7. Which character in "Two and a Half Men" married Manny Quinn, a figure in the fashion industry?

Answer: Rose

Charlie and Rose shared a one night stand before the story line of the program began. After being dumped, Rose became obsessed and stalked Charlie and his brother, Alan. In Season 8 after Rose told Charlie about her wedding, he decided he cannot live without her. Even though he believed she is married, he whisked Rose away to Paris for a romantic getaway, where he died soon after.

It is insinuated that Rose was involved somehow with his death after finding him being unfaithful. "Never cross a crazy woman".

By the way, Rose's husband was a mannequin!
8. What is Polly's surname in the classic TV sitcom "Fawlty Towers"?

Answer: Sherman

Polly Sherman was played by Connie Booth, the co-writer of the series and the real-life wife of John Cleese at the time. Polly was the waitress and general help at the guest house.
"Fawlty Towers" ran for just two series and twelve episodes in total that were first broadcast between 1975 and 1979. In a 2000 vote for the British Film Institute, "Fawlty Towers" was adjudged the best British television series of all time.
9. In "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", Dennis and Dee's grandfather was a former Nazi, who they believed had a hidden treasure trove of spoils of war. It turned out that he did have a pretty valuable painting by which artist?

Answer: Hitler

The Nazis certainly made off with a lot of valuable art, but what Pop-Pop (their grandfather) had was different. He had a picture of a German Shepherd (Blondi?) that was signed by Adolf Hitler. The problem was that Pop-Pop was dying, and nobody knew how valuable the picture was.

In fact, it had been painted over, thrown out, retrieved, and sold, changing hands many different times. After they finally found the picture, one of their friends admitted that he painted over the original. It is thrown in the fire as worthless, and left to burn.

The audience sees the painted-over picture burn off, and the revelation of the original portrait that bears Hitler's signature.
10. In the sitcom "Perfect Strangers", what dance did Balki Bartokomous and his cousin Larry Applegate often perform?

Answer: dance of joy

The dance of joy was introduced by Balki to Larry. It first appeared in the episode "First Date". The dance involved kicking the legs, saying "Hey" several times, and ends with Larry jumping into Balki's arms. It eventually became one of the most well-known parts of the show. It usually was proceeded with Balki saying "Now we are so happy, we do the dance of joy!"
"Perfect Strangers" lasted for eight seasons, airing from 1986 to 1993 and eventually produced a spin-off called "Family Matters".
