Knox went to Wolfram and Hart because he knew Illyria's kingdom and temple used to be around that area.

She could talk to plants and alter time before Wesley took away some of her power to keep her from self-destructing. Although her time altering power could stop bullets, it wasn't an actual power that she had. She could change her appearance, as seen in "Shells" when she developed the leather catsuit and in "The Girl in Question" when she made herself look, sound, and act exactly like Fred.
