Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the title of the "television" program Neelix ran?

Answer: "A Briefing With Neelix"

Neelix starts his program, "A Briefing With Neelix," with the intention of reporting only good news. Ensign Kim then convinces him that he needs to report real news. This program also shows up in "Macrocosm," when Samantha Wildman left it running in her quarters, where Janeway refers to it as his "Good Morning Voyager" program.

However, the name given in THIS episode is "A Briefing With Neelix."
2. Which friendly species made an appearance on this episode?

Answer: Talaxians

Paris decides to leave the ship and boards a Talaxian convey, a member of which just happens to be a friend of Neelix's. I guess it really is a small galaxy!
3. Which crew member decided to leave the ship in this episode?

Answer: Paris

Paris asks to be put off the ship, which is one of the major stories Neelix uncovers in his journalistic endeavors. Seska did leave the ship, but she defected to the Kazon Nistrim in "State of Flux," not "Investigations." Hogan was killed in "Basics Part II."
4. When Neelix started investigating the possiblity of a traitor onboard, who was his first suspect?

Answer: Tom Paris

Neelix eventually suspected Michael Jonas, but it wasn't until after Jonas had framed Paris. Neelix found evidence of convert transmissions being made from the monitor in Paris' quarters.
5. Which crew member did Neelix promise to include in his program, and never seemed to have enough time for that segment?

Answer: The Doctor

Initially, the Doctor was completely uninterested in the program, and Neelix was trying to persuade him to do a segment. Finally the Doctor agreed, but every time he was supposed to appear, Neelix had something more important to report that simply did not leave enough time for poor Doc.
6. Why did Paris leave the ship?

Answer: He went undercover to flush out a spy.

Paris went undercover, behaving like a jerk, so that he could uncover the identity of a spy onboard Voyager. Shortly after he joined the Talaxians, he was captured by the Kazon Nistrim, which was all part of the plan.
7. Where was Neelix's program recorded and broadcasted from?

Answer: the mess hall

Neelix seems to use the mess hall for everything, including a studio. He records and broadcasts from the mess hall, which is blantantly obvious in both the first and last scenes of the episode.
8. Which former crew member was the spy trying to contact in this episode?

Answer: Seska

The spy spent several communiques begging his contact to let him speak with Seska. She finally complied, and we learned that she had been getting all of his messages.
9. What planet was Voyager en route to?

Answer: Hemikek

Voyager was en route to Hemikek to pick up supplies. However, we learn later on that the Kazon have reinforcements on Hemikek, and they are planning to sieze Voyager. Of course, they tried again and succeeded in "Basics," but that's another quiz.
10. Who was the spy?

Answer: Michael Jonas

Paris discovers that Jonas is the spy while onboard the Kazon vessel. Of course, this was nothing new to the viewers, who had seen Jonas communicating with the Kazon since Seska defected in "State of Flux."
