Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where is the room containing Bernard's clones located?

Answer: In the Mesa

Bernard is awakened by Ashley in one of the labs and Ashley confides that he believes Strand's team is not in Westworld for a rescue mission. He believes that Charlotte Hale is only there to secure their assets as well. As Ashley and Bernard head to Theresa's office to use her comms device, Strand intercepts them for a negotiation; he needs a key that they're missing, and they're off to Ford's cabin in the woods to visit the actual site of her death. Charlotte is already there, and she and Strand accuse Ashley of murdering Theresa to secure a better payout. Before Bernard can admit his crime, a door is found behind a shelving unit and what's down a hallway inside throws all of them for a loop.

There's a room there, and inside, shrouded in plastic, are several hosts. All of them are copies of Bernard. Charlotte brings Bernard back to the Mesa to question him, and she insists that they both work through their memories together.
2. When the train crashed into the Mesa, where was Bernard?

Answer: In the Cradle

Peter Abernathy was still in the lab when the train collided with the Mesa. Ashley was instructed to construct a perimeter around the floor to protect Abernathy while Coughlin returned to the control room. His mercenaries, meanwhile, went out to intercept the hosts downstairs.

When they made it down to the collision site, they found the response team already dead, piled up with their gear taken. The hosts ambushed them from behind shortly after. Charlotte instructed her men to cut Peter open to begin copying his control unit manually.

Although the data would be too much, they had to start somewhere. Ashley soon determined that the hosts were likely en route to the Cradle, where there was already a massive power spike. He didn't know that Bernard and Ellie were down there with Bernard in the virtual space.
3. Whose data was on the control unit that Bernard created in the field lab?

Answer: Ford's

In the Cradle's virtual space, Bernard found Robert Ford sitting at the player piano. Ford mused about being God in his seventh day and criticized Bernard for not quite realizing where they were and what that meant. Bernard did realize, however, that the control unit he made, back when he killed the people in the field lab, contained Ford's data.

This prompted Ford to bring him along, through Sweetwater, to come to the real conclusion: the park was always an experiment. The hosts were on loops, but it's because they were the control group and the guests were the variables. Guests come to the park, watched, so that Delos can understand them and copy them. Ford stated that the human mind was the last analog device in a digital world, and everything else had been copied.

It was the last frontier. They were never there to code hosts; they were there to decode guests.
4. Did Ford believe that the hosts had free will?

Answer: Yes

Bernard was put off by Ford's demeanour during their discussion since he implied that none of the hosts ever had free will; Ford knew what they would do all along, right down to Dolores killing him, but he never compelled it. She would free now too; they all would be.

In the Cradle, however, Ford was not free. If he were to be copied into a host, he said, his mind would degrade in a matter of days like it did for James Delos. He was there because he promised Bernard a fighting chance. There was an escape. Bernard asked about the valley beyond and what might be found there, but Ford didn't give up the answer so easily, instead walking on.
5. Ghost Nation men forced Maeve to reunite with William. Who fired the first shot?

Answer: Maeve

The Ghost Nation men chase Maeve and her daughter to a remote homestead and, ironically at the same time, William and his men are chased there as well. She spies him out the window as he approaches the door and enters, much like he did when he killed her in the narrative long ago.

She demands he get away but when he notes that she's present, he laughs, feeling as though Ford wouldn't have put her there so obviously at the end of his path. He laments that she's just like the others, but she draws a gun on him and fires, shooting him in the shoulder and pursuing him out of the house. Maeve uses her newfound powers to control William's men, turning them on him one by one.

He fights back viciously with guns and knives, but he ends up getting shot several times and still ends up at the end of her revolver.
6. Who retrieved Maeve from the field after she was shot?

Answer: Lee

When William found himself at the end of Maeve's gun in the middle of the ranch, she also found herself in a predicament as Lawrence emerged and kept her at the end of his barrel. She told him to turn on 'his master', but he laughed and refused. It was only when she asked him to access his memories that he realized what William had done in the past just to advance in the game.

While he saved his village this time, he'd killed his wife in the past. William said he'd just kill Maeve himself if it was going to come to it, but Lawrence fired at his chest saying "a man ain't real until he suffers", echoing William's own claim.

As Lawrence stepped forward to finish the job, he was shot from behind by Delos mercenaries rolling into the area. Maeve watched as her daughter left the ranch house to escape the Ghost Nation warriors and ended up getting captured.

She was shot several times as Lee rushed from the vehicle and retrieved her. In the chaos, William crawled away and wasn't found by the mercenaries.
7. Who was used to determine Bernard's fidelity as a host?

Answer: Dolores

In the virtual world, Ford and Bernard walked onward to a house-- a replica of the house Arnold created for his family. They created and refined Bernard there for many years. They did, of course, use Dolores for this since he knew Arnold better than anyone else. When she was easily fooled, they knew they had a proper replica. Now that they had a new species in the hosts, they needed to worry because humanity would do what they could to wipe them out, but if they opened the door for them, then they could be out there, freer and safer than before. Ford said that Bernard might not have it in himself to succeed, and while Bernard protested about their argument about free will, Ford said that it would mean nothing unless he took it away from him once again.
And that's when the system restart ended. Bernard's core was remounted in his head and resealed. Ellie caught him as he was removed from the Cradle system. He didn't remember what happened though.
In the control room, the mercenaries found that whatever was bugging the system had disappeared. On surveillance, they noticed the hosts making their way through the building.
8. Who destroyed the Cradle?

Answer: Angela

In the lab, Charlotte's decision to copy Peter's data didn't work out. She instead asked that they remove his core completely. At the same time, Dolores and Teddy started advancing through the labs. Ashley and Charlotte argued about their priorities until he pointed a gun at Peter's head and asked for answers. He didn't get many before Teddy and Dolores arrived and disarmed him. Charlotte tried to get on Dolores' good side by claiming that she wished to celebrate the hosts' technological breakthroughs. Dolores, however, only wanted her father to be better and asked about the key in his head.
Bernard and Ellie made their way through the labs until Bernard started to hallucinate an image of Ford. Ford urged him to let Ellie go alone as they still had business to attend to. She went off to grab more firepower alone.
In the control room, Coughlin learned that Charlotte has been grabbed by Dolores. Up in the labs, Clementine nearly single-handedly took out the mercenaries before being brought down. Angela gots away. She headed down to the Cradle, killing herself with a grenade to destroy the servers.
9. What was Bernard able to do in the Mesa amidst the chaos?

Answer: Shut down all security

As Dolores moved forward to attack Charlotte with a saw, the gunfire neared and Teddy was told to jump into the action. Peter regained mental stability in that moment, saving Charlotte's life, and while Teddy was distracted outside fighting with Coughlin, Charlotte and Ashley were able to escape out an elevator. Coughlin didn't make it; Teddy mercilessly beat him to death and grabbed a machine gun.

In the lab, Peter, realizing that he wouldn't make it out alive, said his last goodbyes to Dolores as she came to terms with the loss. The mercenaries brought Lee and Maeve back to the Mesa as the control room was breached.

In the control room, Bernard watched on as the mercenaries were killed by hosts. Ford waxed on about the burning of the Library of Alexandria as they passed through, and while the chaos carried on, Bernard took control of the story by shutting down the park's security system, allowing Dolores to have free reign.
10. Where, according to Bernard, is Peter Abernathy's control unit?

Answer: The valley beyond

In the loading bay, Lee narrowly avoided getting caught by Dolores by fleeing into the shadows. She found Maeve bleeding on a stretcher and the two discussed Maeve's misfortune. Maeve knew her daughter was still out there, but Dolores said that the daughter was just a metaphorical rope that humans would continue to use to lash her down. Maeve asked if it justifies what she'd clearly done to Teddy. Before Dolores left with her father's core in hand, she asked Maeve if she wished to die, but Maeve asked to be left. She had her promise to keep, after all. As Dolores and her hosts left, Lee stayed hiding in the dark.
Bernard walked through the labs and got found by a small group of mercenaries. Ford suggested he pick up a gun and kill the mercenaries and, when it seemed like Bernard had too poor a constitution to do so, Ford took the wheel and just did it himself.

Bernard continues to struggle to reconcile his memories as he speaks to Charlotte in the labs. His mind seems to be fragmented, but as Charlotte analyzes it, Bernard states that he knows the location of Abernathy's control unit. Bernard tells Strand and his men as well; it's in sector 17, zone 4. It's in the valley beyond, and they're taking a ride there to get it.
