As if it were not enough to have ignominiously fallen onto the ground from his wheelchair, the sprinkler system is activated, thus soaking John. Even so, John can only smile at the absurdity of the situation.

The smoke monster, replete with its characteristic monster sound effects, deftly navigates its way through the jungle. Upon reaching a machete lying on the ground, the monster transforms back into John Locke. He proceeds to cut Richard down from a bag suspended in a tree.

Answer: Randy fires John.

According to Randy, the company had paid for the trip to Sydney, so that John could attend a conference. John admits to not having attended the conference, but is hesitant to reveal his reasons for doing so. Randy then summarily fires John.

Answer: "For you to come with me."

Jacob's nemesis implores Richard to accompany him. He tells Richard, "Come with me and I'll tell you everything." However, Richard adamantly refuses. Richard resolutely states that he is not going anywhere with him.

Ilana pauses a moment in apparent contemplation, then replies, "He's recruiting."

Sawyer is living in the quarters with which he shared a home with Juliet. Sawyer is drowning his sorrows with copious quantities of whiskey. The John impostor enters Sawyer's house of squalor but Sawyer in his whiskey-soaked state is unfazed.

Answer: Hurley

Understandably frustrated, John pounds on the offending vehicle setting off the car alarm. Hurley, impeccably dressed arrives and says, "Dude! Dude! What are you doin'?" John chastises Hurley for parking irresponsibly. Hurley modestly announces that he owns the company and introduces himself as, "Hugo Reyes." Further, Hurley generously provides assistance for John by giving him an opening at an employment agency, which Hurley also happens to own.

Sawyer nearly falls off the precarious rope ladder on the way down. He is rescued by Jacob's nemesis. They enter the cave which is adorned with relics and a scale balanced with two stones. Jacob's nemesis picks up a white stone from the scale and symbolically flings it into the ocean.

John can be seen in a school setting teaching a variety of subjects. He takes a break and heads for the teacher's lounge. Among the other characters that John meets in this particular timeline, John encounters Ben, a teacher of European History. In any case, John seems to be immensely pleased with this position.

Jacob's nemesis shows Sawyer each of the names written upon the wall. Each name is prefixed by one of the mystery numbers. Sawyer's number is 15. Jacob's nemesis goes on to depict each of the transcribed names as "candidates" selected to follow in Jacob's footsteps as leader and protector of the island. Jacob's nemesis insists though, that the island does not need to be protected. Finally, Jacob's nemesis tells Sawyer that the third choice is that they just leave the island. "We never look back." The nemesis asks Sawyer, "So, what do you say James. Are you ready to go home?" Sawyer pauses in reflection. Finally, he says, "Hell, yes."
