Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What stellar region is the Planet Express Ship returning from at the beginning of the episode?

Answer: The Horse-Head Nebula

On the way back, Bender and the Ship are having an argument about whether taxes should be used to subsidize controversial artwork.
2. Bender opens a book called "Art & You", and shows Planet Express Ship a "classic" piece of art. What painting is it?

Answer: The Venus de Venus

The Ship is quite a prude, and seems disgusted by this picture of what appears to be a semi-translucent alien creature. The argument between Bender and the Ship gets so heated that Leela threatens to "come over there and change their opinions manually".
3. What do the Planet Express crew members receive for Valentine's Day?

Answer: New uniforms

Planet Express is trying to sign a delivery contract with a corporation that makes romantic gifts. In order to make a good impression, the Professor buys his crew-members a new set of stylish uniforms. At the very least our crew finally get the chance to change their outfits - which they've been wearing for four years straight since the series began! Phew!
4. According to Professor Farnsworth, what is the most romantic city on Earth?

Answer: Milwaukee

The hover-sign at the city entrance clearly reads: "Welcome to romantic Milwaukee, birthplace of Beer Goggles". Hmmm, so much for romance in the 31st century, eh?
5. Romanticorp is a division of which larger corporation?

Answer: General Emotions

Romanticorp is headed by a married couple who cannot stop kissing each other and making "cutesy" and highly annoying noises of affection in public. Unfortunately for the crew, they need to make a good impression to land the contract with Romanticorp, and that means they have to put up with all the schmaltz. Leela almost blows it, but is "persuaded" to play along thanks to the professor's cattle prod.
6. What raw material is Romanticorp using to create heart-shaped chocolate boxes?

Answer: Garbage

We see an assembly line pumping vast amounts of filthy garbage into a machine, and a row of heart-shaped chocolate boxes exit out the other side. We can only hope that that's just the production process for the boxes, and not for the chocolates inside! "Futurama" has usually been subtle in its social commentary - but sometimes less than subtle.
7. With the money from the Romanticorp contract, the Professor makes some much-needed upgrades to the Planet Express Ship. Which of the following is NOT one of these upgrades?

Answer: A screen door

Yes! They finally installed a cage for the lion! Don't ask.

The personality upgrade to the ship's computer is, of course, the major plot point for the rest of the episode.
8. What song does Bender sing to the Planet Express Ship?

Answer: Daisy, Daisy

If you haven't realized it yet, this episode contains many direct references to the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey", where the ship's computer HAL (whose famous red eye is used for the Planet Express Ship's computer in this episode too) goes crazy and tries to kill everyone on board.

At the end of that film, the half-crazed computer is being forcibly shut down, and reverts to its "Demo" mode where it starts singing this song. It's remembered as one of the scariest scenes in classical film history.
9. When Planet Express Ship confronts Bender about seeing him with two female robots at a restaurant, what does he say?

Answer: "They're my accountants"

Planet Express Ship is mad with love for Bender (quite literally), and accepts this flimsy explanation. Heck, she believed Fry when he told her that Bender wasn't home because he was visiting his _parents_!
10. What television show are the Omicronians watching?

Answer: Friends

Lrrr, ruler of Omicron Persei 8, doesn't understand why Ross - being the largest of the Friends cast - does not simply eat the other Friends. His wife Ndnd thinks they may be saving that episode for sweepstakes. They eventually turn off the television because it's a "Joey-heavy" episode anyway.
11. Why did Bender choose to break up with the Planet Express Ship in the middle of a space-battle?

Answer: The moment seemed right

Bender says that "a dump should be as memorable as it is devastating". We hope he's referring to dumping the SHIP!
12. Planet Express Ship realizes she can't change Bender. So instead she tries to change... what?

Answer: The laws of time and space

Now completely mad with despair, the Ship tries to fly itself into a quasar. She's hoping that the infinite power of the quasar will "smush Bender and herself together into a beautiful, eternal quantum-singularity". Good job, Bender.
13. What's written on the heart-shaped candy that flies out of Fry's mouth at the end of the episode?

Answer: You leave me breathless

While Leela is trying to shut down the Planet Express Ship's brain, Fry realizes that she's running out of oxygen. He plugs his tank into hers so she can keep working, while he himself passes out. When Leela revives him, Fry coughs out a candy with those words written on it. Needless to say, this warms even Leela's cold heart.
14. After narrowly escaping being forever melded with the ship's computer, what does Bender NOT say about himself?

Answer: That he's a wild mustang

Apparently, some of the ship's personality has managed to infiltrate Bender's programming after all. Well, given Bender's personality, that can't be all that bad... OR CAN IT?
15. Leela dumps all of the candy hearts into a quasar. What event does this cause?

Answer: The destruction of many, many planets

Apparently, the candy vaporized into a mystical love radiation that nonetheless destroyed a large number of planets, including two gangster planets and a cowboy world. Fortunately, Earth was at exactly the right distance to avoid destruction and still enjoy the romantic nature of this deadly, deadly radiation.
