Agnes Dipesto, who works as a secretary for the Blue Moon agency, also lives in this building. She and the rest of the tenants are apparently not aware of the violent incident going on in the one apartment. The scene in the car is bittersweet and sheds a great deal of light on the main characters. David says Maddie didn't seem to feel much sympathy for Agnes, who looked very happy when she was watching the baby. Hayes wanted to go to the police right away.

The conversation turns into a shouting match. Then it takes a bit of an odd turn. David insists that Maddie could "make a hell of a mother"--which gives Hayes pause for thought. They continue on the way to meet the child's mother.

Viewers will recognize the criminal Leonard from the beginning of the show. He is the one who killed poor Joseph. He is still looking for the baby. Maddie initially mistakes him for a Justice Department agent. Thankfully, Leonard leaves without finding the baby.

Maddie heads off to face the criminals first-- and holds them at bay while "Santa" somehow gets dressed and makes his way down the chimney. The Justice Department agents also show up. The criminals duke it out with the detectives and the agents. At last, the thugs are arrested and the baby is safe. In a festive ending to the episode, the cast and crew sing "The First Noel."
