Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the opening scene, the Blue Moon workers look on as something unusual happens in the front office. What is it?

Answer: Secretary Agnes Dipesto is kissing someone

Agnes has pinned someone to the top of a desk. It turns out to be accountant Herbert Viola, on his very first day at work, as part of a temporary assignment.
2. A client comes in. Her name is Gail Woodley. What does she want the detectives to do?

Answer: Tell a secret admirer she would like to break up

Woodley's marriage is troubled. She claims she first took part in the correspondence out of boredom.
3. Where do the detectives go to do some surveillance work?

Answer: The post office

The two of them have to take turns watching for a man to pick up the letters from a post office box. He does so, and then he takes a bus home.
4. What happens when the detectives follow the mysterious man to his apartment?

Answer: David kicks in the door

At first, the detectives knocked on the door and called to the man. When there was no response, David resorted to the kick. It turns out the man would not have heard them anyway-- he was deaf. Much chagrined, the detectives gave him the message and left.
5. The detectives pay a visit to the Woodley home. They meet Gail's husband, Ken. What does he tell them?

Answer: Gail was found dead

Police are combing over the Woodley residence. It seems Gail was the victim of murder by bludgeoning.
6. The detectives return to visit their contact. They find a note. What does it say?

Answer: The man killed Gail in a murder-suicide plot

Maddie had thought the man, Peter Macy, was responsible for Gail's death. David didn't want to believe it, but in light of the note and the apparent end of the case, there was nothing to do but return to the office.
7. New employee Herbert Viola is still having a bad day at the office. Where is he hiding?

Answer: Under Maddie's desk

Bert is finding it difficult to escape the attentions of secretary Agnes Dipesto. She has cornered him several times; at one point, he had to fend her off with a chair.
8. David mulls over the many strange aspects of the case. Which of the following problems does he talk about?

Answer: How did the killer get home without being noticed?

David reasons that if the killer committed suicide out of an obsession with Gail, then two bodies would have been found at the Woodley house. Yet only Gail died there; Peter Macy was found to have jumped, or been pushed, from a window at his own apartment building.
9. The detectives meet Ken Woodley again. What does he say?

Answer: He hired someone to write to Gail

David and Maddie wait for Ken at the post office. When he arrives, he confesses to having set up the whole scheme. Ken pressured Macy to write the letters because he wanted to see what would provoke his wife's interest. In the end, Ken became so jealous, he could no longer put up with either Macy or Gail. Ken makes a run for it; David, Maddie and the post office staff rush off in pursuit.

After a crazy chase scene, the bad guy is captured, and the Blue Moon team once again save the day.
10. At the end of the day, everybody heads home from work. Agnes and Herbert bump into each other again, in a tension-filled moment. Where does this take place?

Answer: At the elevator

Agnes is very embarrassed by her earlier advances on Bert. They stare uncomfortably at each other until the elevator arrives. Surprisingly, there is no argument--they both keep quiet. Agnes struggles not to cry. Herbert leans on the back wall. When the doors open, Agnes leaves--and Bert takes a little extra time to watch.
