Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A Romulan ship is destroyed by a wave of energy emanating in space upon moving in close proximity to both the Enterprise and a star on the verge of going supernova, but the source of that destructive energy is neither the Enterprise nor the star.

Answer: Tin Man

The mysterious pea pod-shaped 'Tin Man' lifeform, which is discovered near a star that's about to go supernova, not only has the attention of the Federation, but that of the Romulans as well. Before the Enterprise can reach it, however, a Romulan warbird fires upon the Federation's flagship. With Picard and his crew stuck having to make repairs, the warbird then proceeds to intercept 'Tin Man' on its own.

But when the Betazoid Tam Elbrun uses his mental powers to warn 'Tin Man' of the impending danger, the mysterious lifeform emits a ring of blue energy that destroys the warbird and knocks the Enterprise several parsecs back into another sector of space.
2. Riker is physically cooking breakfast--instead of replicating it--inside his quarters for Worf, Geordi, Data and a recent new arrival onboard the Enterprise who is seen later placing another humanoid behind a protective stasis forcefield.

Answer: Time Squared

At the very beginning of the episode, we get to see a rare event unfolding onboard a Federation starship...and within the trek universe altogether: a member of the crew physically preparing a meal! Riker is in his quarters getting breakfast set up when Data, Geordi, Worf and Dr. Pulaski all enter, carrying various cookware and utensils that the commander needs.

The fried eggs, unfortunately, aren't to everyone's taste; Worf is the only one who happily indulges without complaint. It seemed that this particular scene was intended to be a prelude to the follow-up episode, as Riker mentions that he learned how to cook from his father, and it is his father who ends up being the guest of honor in "The Icarus Factor". Meanwhile, later on in "Time Squared", Dr. Pulaski (the recent new arrival onboard the Enterprise) is working in sickbay to diagnose the unconscious duplicate Picard from the future.

There's a moment when she moves to a computer panel to activate a protective forcefield around the bio-bed where the duplicate Picard is laying, stating that it's for his own protection (presumably, in case he reacts violently to the shock of waking up in an unfamiliar environment, which would eliminate the need for any kind of sedation).
3. An alien device inside of a room is seen emitting green beams of energy that project holographic representations of Worf, Picard, Counselor Troi and an alien dressed in a blue Starfleet uniform who is not a known member of the Enterprise crew.

Answer: Frame Of Mind

Midway through the episode, while Riker is still suffering and living through the short-term memories of his disturbed mind, there's a scene where he is being questioned by one of the Tilonian doctors in his holding cell. The alien doctor places a simple-looking device in front of him, explaining that it can scan his brain and project the different facets of his personality into interactive images. Each time Riker asks a question or conjures up a thought, a green energy beam is aimed at Riker's head, followed by a second green beam of light that creates a holographic representation of a specific character. First, Worf is created, representing Riker's ability to fight.

Then Counselor Troi is created, representing his emotions and how he felt when he committed (supposedly) the murder in question. Picard, representing ethics and reasoning, is the third character created.

Then the fourth is the Tilonian surgeon dressed in a blue Starfleet uniform, whom Riker kept seeing glimpses of earlier in the episode and whom he encounters for real near the end when he finally regains consciousness.
4. Dr. Crusher slaps Wesley across the face during the heat of an argument between the two of them in sickbay.

Answer: Sarek

Tempers are flaring all over the Enterprise, but the crew is initially unaware that the raging emotions are the ill effects of Sarek's worsening condition. In one scene, Dr. Crusher and Wesley are having a heated argument, which is sparked by Wesley being a no show at Data's concert in Ten Forward, and culminates abruptly with the ship's chief medical officer slapping her teenage son across the face. Beverly later admits that she'd never done such a thing, which fuels the suspicion that the Vulcan Ambassador may be in some way responsible for everything that's going on.
5. Counselor Troi retrieves a series of three paper scrolls onboard the Enterprise--one from engineering, one from inside her own quarters and one in the transporter room--reading the poetic messages inscribed on each one out loud.

Answer: Second Chances

The transporter accident-created and soon-to-be-called Lieutenant Thomas Riker is attempting to rekindle some romance between him and the Federation flagship's resident counselor. In a fun montage that ensues after his arrival, we first see Counselor Troi picking up a small scroll tied in a ribbon on a table inside her quarters, the message poetically telling her to meet him in the transporter room. Upon arriving there, Troi finds a second scroll resting atop a computer control panel, with the message now indicting that the half-Betazoid should go to the warp core in engineering.

When she arrives at Geordi's familiar post, she finds a third scroll affixed to the warp core before ultimately ending up in Ten Forward, where Lieutenant Riker has surprised her with a painting of a waterfall created while trapped on the Nervala IV world.
6. Chief O'Brien is in the transporter room when an alien, whom he has just transported onboard the Enterprise, stuns him with a Starfleet-issue phaser, but neither O'Brien's prior phaser blast nor the phaser shots of unnamed security officers are able to take the alien down.

Answer: The Hunted

At the beginning of this episode, the rogue Angosian prisoner named Roga Danar has eluded capture by both his own people and the Federation's flagship. After a few minutes of cat-and-mouse, Chief O'Brien is finally able to lock onto Roga and beam him aboard via the transporter room.

The struggle to apprehend Roga has just begun, however. Even after the transporter successfully disables the hand-held weapon Roga is equipped with, the rogue prisoner still manages to physically and single-handedly overpower both O'Brien and the other security officers. Phaser blasts by O'Brien and a couple of the security officers have zero affect on Roga, but Roga retrieves a dropped phaser and stuns O'Brien with a phaser blast of his own in retaliation. Only when Worf and Riker arrive in the corridor outside of the transporter room and double team Roga by tackling him to the floor is the threat by the resilient and cunning prisoner neutralized.
7. Riker is down on a planet during an away mission to retrieve a Federation database, traversing a metal catwalk that suddenly collapses, which results in a Starfleet officer dangling over a bottomless pit and forcing Riker to frantically try to save the officer's life.

Answer: Second Chances

Riker, and his transporter accident-created twin Lieutenant Riker, are nearing the completion of the away team's mission to recover the database containing the scientific research conducted on the Nervala IV planet. After taking several scans, they enter into a large chasm and begin walking across a metal catwalk that, without warning, rips apart on one end, leaving Lieutenant Riker dangling above the dark, bottomless abyss below.

His superior commander frantically rushes to his rescue, repeatedly ordering him to climb up while grabbing hold of him. Several tense seconds pass before the lieutenant is eventually pulled to safety, in essence, getting a third chance at life after the initial second chance (which was the arrival of the away team at the beginning of the episode).
8. Worf escorts a Cardassian passenger to the bridge to see the captain, accusing the passenger of accessing the Enterprise's computers, which then prompts the passenger's superior captain to issue an order of confinement to quarters for the remainder of the trek through Cardassian space.

Answer: The Wounded

This was an episode about fellow captains, as Captain Picard and the Cardassian captain, Macet (played by none other than the talented Mark Alaimo) agree to cooperate in tracking down Captain Maxwell, the 'wounded man' responsible for the destruction of several Cardassian supply ships.

As a show of good faith, Picard agrees to allow two of Macet's comrades to remain onboard the ship, much to the distaste of Chief O'Brien, who was a bit 'wounded' himself due to previous dealings with them in the past. Midway through the episode, there is a scene when Worf is roughly handling one of Macet's comrades as they both exit the turbolift and enter the bridge, Worf accusing him of accessing tactical information in the ship's computers. Even though the accusation is vehemently denied, Macet orders that his subordinate remains confined to quarters for the duration of the rest of the journey, after which Picard then orders Worf to accompany the scheming Cardassian in complete agreement of Macet's reprimand.
9. Picard is walking down a corridor onboard the Enterprise when he sees a farm chicken flying through an opened doorway and landing on the floor in front of him.

Answer: Up The Long Ladder

When the technologically-deficient Bringloidi colonists are transported onbaord the ship, their entire settlement is transported with them, including their vast array of farm animals. Among the small population are lamb, pigs and chickens, with one of those chickens seen getting loose and flying into a corridor after Picard and Worf have exited the turbolift. Luckily, neither of the stunned gentlemen has to round up the fleeing fowl; a little girl races out to grab it and takes it back with her into the cargo bay before it has the chance to nest somewhere else.
10. Counselor Troi is holding a formal counseling session in her office onboard the Enterprise in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Second Chances

Although Troi has many private heart-to-heart talks with both Commander Riker and the transporter accident-created Lieutenant Riker, none of these conversations are formal counseling or therapy sessions. Further, none of the talks take place inside of her office; we primarily see her interacting with the two Rikers in either Ten Forward or her own quarters.

In "Hollow Pursuits", Troi is formally counseling the troubled Lieutenant Barclay, who is struggling to fit in with the crew, particularly Geordi's engineering team that is working on trying to solve the problem with the anti-grav units in the cargo bay.

In "The Loss", Troi hosts several therapy sessions for the young female ensign whose husband has recently died, both while she has her empathic abilities intact and after she's lost those powers as a result of the two-dimensional aliens having temporarily suppressed that natural ability.

Then at the end of "The Mind's Eye", we see Troi counseling Geordi after his experience of being mentally tortured by the Romulans and serving as their puppet in an attempted conspiracy to murder one of the Klingon passengers.
