Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first Road Block appeared in the first leg of the race.

Answer: False

Teams did not have their first Road Block until the second leg of the race. Although the first leg in Singapore and Manila did contain a Detour, teams did not face this standard task. In Leg 2, teams took a bus out of Manila to Pila where one member needed to guide a carabao and plow around a marked course in a muddy field.

When they successfully completed the course they could take a taxi back to Manila. Marc, Vanessa, Kinaryosih, Diane, Aurelia, Natasha, Adrian, Daichi, Henrry, and Edwin did this one.
2. During the third leg of the race, teams had to bungee jump off which of these in New Zealand during the Road Block?

Answer: Bridge

In the third leg of the race, teams flew from Manila to Hong Kong and then southeast to Auckland, New Zealand. After taking pictures at Howick Historical Village, team members headed back to Auckland to take a bungee jump at the AJ Hackett Memorial Bridge.

Although this was a potentially frightening task, Marc, Diane, Natasha, Sophie, Terri, Collin, Pamela, Sawaka, and Brett ended up taking the plunge forty meters down before continuing on with the race.
3. In Leg 5, teams completed a Road Block task in an ice bar in which city?

Answer: Tokyo

For Leg 5, teams flew from New Zealand's north island to Tokyo, the capital city of Japan. After a lengthy leg through the city streets, teams were told to make their way to IceBar Tokyo where one member had to decipher a puzzle involving ice cubes containing two-letter combinations which, when properly ordered, would spell out their next destination-- Fukukoa. Sawaka, Rovilson, Ann, Adrian, Paula, Pamela, and Henry all finished this task before boarding a train to their next destination city, Fukukoa, to check into the midway point of the leg.
4. In Busan, South Korea in Leg 5, team members needed to do which of the following for their Road Block?

Answer: Unlock a lock

Teams continued into Busan, South Korea during Leg 5, surprised that they were not done racing after stepping on the Pit Stop mat (later discovered to be a mid-way point). In Busan, teams needed to race to the Nurimaru APEC House overlooking the sea and receive a key with their Road Block clue.

This told them to race to Yongdusan Park where they would need to use the key to unlock one of hundreds of padlocks stretched across a gate. If their key broke they would need to receive another one. Marc, Collin, Vanessa, Paula, Terri, Ann, and Daichi had the luck to unlock the locks before heading to the Pit Stop at Beomeosa Temple.
5. In Leg 6 in South Korea, team members searched through jars of soybeans to find a clue during the Road Block. Which team also received a $50 bonus?

Answer: Adrian and Collin

Continuing through South Korea in Leg 6, teams were told to start the leg by driving to the Seoil Farm in rural Anseong. Here, one member of each team was required to search through over one thousand five hundred soybean canisters to find one of only six containing a clue. One of these also included a fifty dollar reward from Standard Chartered Bank which could be used during the race; Adrian and Collin ended up walking away with this one.

The task was completed by Rovilson, Vanessa, Collin, Natasha, Diane, and Terri.
6. Dressing in suits of armor in Leg 7, team members had to find a damsel in distress for the Road Block in which city?

Answer: Prague

Flying to Frankfurt and taking a train to Prague in Leg 7, teams found their Road Block task waiting in the Old Town Square of the Czech capital city. Here, one member of each team was required to don a suit of heavy armor and trudge through the square to find a damsel in distress awaiting help on a high-up balcony.

They then needed to attach a key to her rope which she would pull up and trade for their next clue sending them to the town of Beroun. Marc, Adrian, Paula, Ann, Vanessa, and Henry completed this Road Block task.
7. In Leg 9, teams headed to Hungary and completed a flying fox course during their Road Block. During this task, teams needed to give over a number; what was the number?

Answer: 1,000

In Visegrad, Hungary, teams needed to locate the Fun Extreme Canopy flying fox and one member of each had to complete a ten-stage course through the treetops to get their next clue at the end. En route to the bottom, the chosen team member also had to add up numbers visible on the course to get a grand total of one thousand.

The clue would only be given if they added the numbers correctly and told the final attendant; failure would mean that they had to restart the course. Adrian, Natasha, Diane, Marc, and Vanessa completed this one.
8. Leg 10 of the race continued through Hungary. During the Road Block, one team member needed to search Buda Castle for which of these?

Answer: Treasure chest

Returning to Budapest, the final five teams ended up reaching Buda Castle where they were required to choose one member to delve into the labyrinth beneath the structure. Here, using only a lantern, they needed to find a treasure chest containing their next clue.

The catch? There would be several different chests throughout the elaborate maze. After the task, they could head onward to Margaret Island for their next clue. Rovilson, Pamela, Diane, and Paula ended up navigating the maze in this leg.
9. In Leg 11, if team members did not complete the first four laps of their racing task in South Africa, what would happen?

Answer: They'd take a time penalty

Vanessa, Marc, Collin, and Ann completed this penultimate Road Block task in Cape Town, South Africa. At the Kilarney Motor Racing Complex, each of them had to suit up and hop into a race car to complete a total of eight laps on the course. After four laps they needed to stop in at pit road; if they finished their first half in more than seven minutes they needed to take a five minute time penalty before continuing. Only Marc avoided the penalty though no teams were able to overtake one another on the course.
10. During the final Road Block of the race in Singapore, which team member was the last to arrive at the task and the first to leave?

Answer: Adrian

In the final leg of the race, teams flew from Cape Town, South Africa back to the starting city, Singapore, where they found their Road Block clue on Tanjong Beach on Sentosa Island. Here, team members needed to recall the past ten countries of the race and place their flags in the correct order to receive their final clue.

This task included more than ten flags though only ten would work for the puzzle. Rovilson, Vanessa, and Adrian arrived in that order and left in the reverse order. This task ultimately decided the winners of the race; Marc and Rovilson couldn't recover from the loss while Adrian and Collin went on to win.
