Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where did the race begin?

Answer: Kuala Lampur

Ten teams began the race at Dataran Merdeka, also known as Independence Square, in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. These ten teams were from eight different countries around Asia and each pair had a pre-existing relationship. The first clue told teams to shop until they dropped.

They were told to travel to Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lampur, then head to the eighth floor of the shopping mall there.
2. Which task did teams need to complete at the Times Square shopping mall?

Answer: Drop eight floors to the ground floor of the mall

Once on the eighth floor, teams had to drop to the bottom floor of the mall to receive their next clue. One team member could use the rappel line at a time to abseil to the bottom. At the bottom, teams received a clue telling them to travel to Komplex Kraf in Kuala Lampur. Teams could only travel by taxi to this route marker. Once there, teams received the Detour.
3. How many teams completed the 'Pot' Detour task in Leg 1?

Answer: One

At Komplex Kraf, teams completed the Detour. In this Leg, teams chose between 'Paint' and 'Pot'. In 'Paint', teams needed to complete a traditional silk batik painting. If the painting had a small flaw, the judge could refuse to hand over their clue.

In 'Pot', team members worked together to mold a clay pot. While one member molded the clay, the other could control the wheel speed. Ernie and Jeena were the only ones to participate in this task.
4. How many laps did teams take around the stadium in Leg 1?

Answer: Four

After the Detour, teams were instructed to drive a marked car thirty miles to the Shah Alam Stadium in Kuala Lampur. Once there, teams received another clue. This clue instructed team members to suit up and drive a go-kart around the stadium through four consecutive laps. Both team members needed to do this task separately. After this, they would receive their next clue.
5. No teams were eliminated in Leg 1.

Answer: True

After driving around the stadium, teams were told to find the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve and follow a deceiving marked trail through the jungle to the Pit Stop. The odd thing was that the end of the trail took teams to the Kuala Lampur Tower. Once teams took the elevator to the observation deck, they could find the first Pit Stop mat.

The first team to arrive was Mardy and Marsio, while the last team to arrive was Sandy and Francesca. Luckily, the first leg was a predetermined non-elimination leg, and they were spared from elimination.
6. Which country did teams travel to in Leg 2?

Answer: Indonesia

Teams departed from the base of the Kuala Lampur Tower in the middle of the night and were told to drive to the airport, where they could take an Air Asia flight to Jakarta, Indonesia. Once there, teams had to race in taxis to the Rangunan Zoo for their next clue. This clue was also the first Road Block of "The Amazing Race Asia".
7. Who did not compete in the Road Block in Leg 2?

Answer: Jeena

At the Rangunan Zoo, teams had to split off and complete a Road Block task. In this task, they needed to choose one person who liked animals. Team members had to walk into a snake pit with some of the world's largest snakes and retrieve a clue from the center of the pit within two minutes. After this, teams were given the Route Info and a Fast Forward.
8. Which team won the Fast Forward in Leg 2?

Answer: Sahil and Prashant

In this Fast Forward, teams had to travel six miles to an Indonesian school for another clue. This clue told teams to search the school for children listening to Sony MP3 walkmans. Once a team has found the one child who is listening to the phrase 'you have chosen correctly', they could receive a clue taking them directly to the Pit Stop. Sahil and Prashant were first to arrive despite the fact that Jeena and Ernie left the Zoo first, and they obtained the clue.
9. The 'Push' Detour task was completed by the most teams in Leg 2.

Answer: True

Teams choosing to continue the race without the Fast Forward went to the West Sumatra Pavilion, to learn a traditional plate dance called 'tari piring'. Once teams were able to master this dance, they could receive their next clue from a professional plate dancer.

This clue was the Detour, which had the choices 'Push' and 'Sell'. In both tasks, teams had to find marked meatball soup carts, but they had the choice of either pushing the cart down a marked course or selling fifteen bowls of soup.

In 'Push', teams also had to make sure not to spill a bowl of soy sauce in the cart, and they had to sing a traditional Indonesian song or else they needed to restart the task. In 'Sell', teams could also choose to eat the soup that they don't sell.
10. Which team was eliminated in Leg 2?

Answer: Ernie and Jeena

After the Detour, teams were required to travel to the Pit Stop for this leg of the race, the Monas National Monument in Jakarta. The first team to arrive was Sahil and Prashant, who took the Fast Forward clue. The final team to arrive was Ernie and Jeena, who failed to reach the Fast Forward in time and were forced to complete the leg.

They were the first team eliminated from the race.
