Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Darwin told everyone what Bridger wore while swimming. What did Darwin say?

Answer: Skin

Bridger asked Darwin what he wore while swimming, so Bridger would know that the dolphin in the ship was actually his. Darwin answered correctly.
2. Who was third in command of the boat?

Answer: Hitchcock

Katie Hitchcock was third in command, behind Captain Bridger and then Command Ford. She was usually seen commanding the WSKRS (the little 'probes' that surrounded the ship).
3. Who suggested taking Milos Tezlof and his son aboard the boat?

Answer: Westphalen

Tezlof had taken Malcolm (Bridger's friend) and Dr. Westphalen hostage. When Westphalen noticed that Tezlof's son wasn't normal, she suggested to Tezlof that they be brought aboard the seaQuest so that Darwin could attempt to help the child communicate.
4. How was the first seaQuest destroyed?

Answer: Used to seal a hole in the ocean floor

Lucas's father was in charge of a project to provide power for the entire world. Problem was, the facility was built in an unstable place and the ocean floor started opening up beneath it. To seal the rupture, Bridger crashed the seaQuest onto the seabed. The crew thought that Bridger had gone down with the ship, but he escaped using the Stinger Hitchcock and Lucas had designed.
5. When Lucas and Hitchcock began building a one-man submersible vehicle, they had different ideas of what to name it. What name did Hitchcock insist on calling the vehicle?

Answer: Gazelle

Most of the crew seemed to like Lucas's name, the Stinger, better. After the first prototype is stolen/destroyed, they had to build a second prototype in less than 24 hours. Although they did not have the winning design (Lucas and Hitchcock hadn't read the research Bridger provided them that would have alerted them to a design flaw), they still continued to use the Stinger.

It even appeared in the second season, and (continuity error?) was able to hold three people.
6. In "Greed for a Pirate's Dream", what treasure was Bridger given when he returned to the boat?

Answer: a desk name plate

A group of treasure hunters were on an island looking for treasure. However, there was about to be an eruption that was going to wipe out the island. When the seaQuest's landing party is stranded on the island (and faced with almost certain death), Westphalen (the ranking officer on board) fires 'research tools' (aka, torpedoes) in order to vent the pressure that was building up in the thermal vent.

Admiral Noyce wasn't so happy "about a science officer who was able to call up the full fire power of the seaQuest." Westphalen replied that they could dock her pay for the extra torpedoes she fired.

Bridger received the desk name plate and Westphalen received Captain Stede Bonnet's cutlass.
7. In season one, which crewmember was the only one whose child who boards the boat?

Answer: Westphalen

We don't know much about Crocker's family life, except in "Higher Power" he receives a 'Dear John' letter indicating his wife had left him.

Bridger's son, Robert, died before the series began. Krieg actually had been friends with Robert.

Lucas has no children.

Westphalen's daughter appeared in "The Good Death". In this episode, the seaQuest fires on a submarine that they had been told contained smugglers. It turns out to contain only young boys escaping death squads that roamed the slums. Westphalen's daughter, Cynthia, was working with one of the locals to save the children.
8. What game did Dr. Westphalen give up in the episode "Games"?

Answer: Chess

The warden of a jail located in an ice cap comes aboard seaQuest. The warden seems to take a liking to Dr. Westphalen and they end up playing a game of chess (Westphalen apparently couldn't find a good player on the boat). However, it turns out that the warden was actually a mass killer who was responsible for the death of Westphalen's brother.

At the end of the episode, she says she doesn't think she'll ever play the game of chess again. Then she asks Bridger if poker was an easy game to learn.
9. In the episode "Treasures of the Tonga Trench", Krieg finds a bunch of glowing rocks. What did it turn out the glowing rocks were?

Answer: fish poop

Krieg finds the objects and soon begins a conspiracy with other members of the crew (who think they're going to get rich) to farm the objects and keep the captain (and an inspector aboard the boat) unaware of what was going on. During a blackout drill, the 'rocks' glowed and the conspiracy came to light - literally. Dr. Westphalen analyzed the rocks and determined they were fish poop, and thus worthless.
10. When the UEO's supply people can't get thermal chips fast enough to help save the sanity of the crew (who had to double bunk because some rooms were too hot), who did the crew call for help?

Answer: The Regulator

The Regulator (real name: Leslie) was apparently a rogue 'import/export' businessman who tried to steal Darwin because he thought Darwin could actually talk. The Regulator thought that Darwin knew secrets about the universe, but all Darwin would do for the Regulator was squeak.
