Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The episode opened on the past. It was Lawrence, Kansas, how many years earlier?

Answer: 22

The opening of the series showed the Winchester family saying goodnight to baby Sam. Later that evening, Mary Winchester was murdered in Sam's room. John, Sam, and Dean made it out of the house alive.

Samantha Smith played Mary. Jeffrey Dean Morgan played John.
2. Where was Sam attending college?

Answer: Stanford University

Sam was on his way to becoming a lawyer, and had an LSAT test score of 174. He believed he was going to qualify for a full law scholarship at Stanford Law. Then Dean arrived with news that their father was missing.

Stanford University is located in California, as is UC Sunnydale, though the latter is entirely fictional.
3. What was the name of Sam's girlfriend?

Answer: Jess

They appeared to live together on campus, and she was there when Dean "broke into" Sam's house/dorm. Adrianne Palicki played Jess. She went on to star on "Friday Night Lights", "About a Boy", and "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
4. Dean convinced Sam to travel with him in search for their father. Where did the go to try and find him?

Answer: Jericho, California

John was investigating some missing men in Jericho on his most recent case. He'd been out of touch longer than Dean was comfortable with, and he did not want to search alone. It had been three weeks of nothing and then a garbled voicemail that had a secret message on it.
5. Dean revealed he was how old in this episode?

Answer: 26

Sam was surprised that their dad had allowed Dean to hunt alone, and Dean responded with "dude, I'm 26". That made Sam almost 22.
6. Actress Sarah Shahi played the Woman in White.

Answer: True

The Woman in White, whose real name was Constance Welch, would lure men on the highway. She'd trick them into infidelity and kill them. She was a vengeful spirit, and in her human life had drowned her children and then herself.

Sarah Shahi went on to star on "The L Word" and "Chicago Fire".
7. When Dean and Sam were leaving the scene of the latest Woman in White victim, Troy Squire, how did Dean address the FBI agents?

Answer: Agent Mulder and Agent Scully

This was the scene on the bridge were Constance had once jumped and drowned herself. This was where she took men to kill them. This pop culture referencing to Mulder and Scully from "The X-Files" was just the beginning of what Dean would offer in seasons to come.

All of the choices are fictional FBI agents. They are from the TV shows "Bones" and "Criminal Minds", and the movie "The Silence of the Lambs".
8. Sam and Dean located John's investigation inside a motel room.

Answer: True

They checked into a motel, and found out that a man had rented a room for a month. Inside his room, the boys found a ton of work done by John Winchester. Dean surmised he hadn't been there in days, and Sam realized John had figured out it was Constance Welch.
9. What was the name of Constance Welch's husband?

Answer: Joseph

Steve Railsback played Joseph Welch. He also played Duane Berry on a two-part episode of "The X-Files", which Dean had already referenced earlier in the show.
10. Did Sam's girlfriend die at the end?

Answer: Yes

Jess was killed in the same fashion as Mary Winchester 22 years earlier. This effectively ended Sam's academic pursuits. After the fire was put out, Sam said to Dean, "we got work to do".

This episode was written by creator Eric Kripke and directed by David Nutter. David also directed episodes of "The X-Files", "Entourage", and "Game of Thrones".
