"Taskmaster": Series 1 Trivia Quiz

Romesh hadn't told his wife that he was offering up his wedding ring as a prize and told Greg that he was "genuinely in deep trouble if the ring didn't come home." This comment prompted Frank to add, "So am I if I turn up in it."

Answer: Smashing the watermelon open on the table/floor

After opening/exploding the melon, both Tim and Romesh leaned into their animalistic instincts and proceeded to scarf down loads and loads of melon. The task was ultimately won by Romesh as it was found that Tim cheated by taking an extra bite of watermelon after the whistle had blown.

At the other end of the spectrum was Roisin who spent 55 seconds searching for a knife to cut the watermelon before grazing it with her teeth as time expired.

Answer: Rubber Duck Pie

After making his guesses, as he was opening the pies to see what was inside, Frank very quickly determined that he might have "gone a bit normal" in his guesses. What he called "Steak and Kidney Pie" turned out to be "Picture of the Taskmaster Pie".

Answer: Tree Wizard

Tree Wizard consisted of Romesh "unpopping" balloons as he was making gestures with his arms. He also appeared to levitate up into a tree at the end of his skit. Frank finished bottom of the group in this task but he seemed to be accepting of it as, after Romesh's video, he said "Each one you show, mine gets worse."

Answer: Throw a tea bag into a mug from the furthest distance away

This task was definitely a low point in the series for Romesh. In addition to the box situation, there was also an unfortunate (yet wonderful) moment in the footage where Frank stated "Someone will take the first 45 minutes realizing it's better if they're wet." The camera then cuts to Romesh saying, after many failed attempts, "I just realized I should probably wet them."

Answer: The word "Greg"

The entire audience and cast were absolutely howling in laughter as Josh revealed his tattoo. Coincidentally, Roisin gave Greg a mouse named "Greg" and Josh was quick to mention that he has the mouse's name tattooed on his foot as well. Greg said he enjoyed most of the gifts, but of course Josh received the full five points.

The task was to "Make this ice block disappear as fast as possible" and all but one of the contestants had very similar techniques in completing the task. The odd one out was Tim Key who decided to take the block of ice and drop it in a river. As the ice floated away, Tim asked Alex to stop the clock. To which Alex replied, "But I can still see it".

Answer: Frank Skinner

If the task explicitly stated that all of the tears had to come from the contestants, Romesh would have taken first place. However, Frank was able to use that lack of clarification to enlist the help of the entire "Taskmaster" crew. Frank's ingenious use of the entire team collected him twelve tears and five full points!

Answer: Count the peas in this bag of frozen peas

The look of shock on Josh's face as he exclaimed, "What?!? Did no one else do this?", is one of the most memorable moments of the season. That look slowly turned to embarrassment and disappointment as he realized he had been tricked not once, not twice, but three times. Josh's shock is demonstrated even more so by the comment he made after completing the final counting task; Josh said, "You feel like a loser, but then you realize you're not the one having to watch this five times." Well, at least Josh got a bonus point.

The remaining contestants finished as follows, Tim Key - 88 points, Frank Skinner - 93 points, and Romesh Ranganathan - 93 points. At the end of it all, only 1 point separated Josh from both Frank and Romesh. You can't help but wonder if maybe things would have been different if only Romesh would have found that box.
