Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who can forget that awful show "Sabrina, The Teenage Witch"? Sabrina, a teenaged girl who messed up her life continuously with various spells, owned a small black cat. What was the cat's name?

Answer: Salem

Sabrina, a young witch who learns of her powers as she enters adolescence, continually messes things up for her family and friends, as well as herself, with different spells. The episode is usually about her attempts to rectify the mistakes. Salem the cat was once a ruler who had been turned into a cat after attempting to take over the world. Salem was actually a robotic cat and was one of the cheesiest animals ever on television.
2. Anne Wood was one of the creators of which of the following abominable television shows?

Answer: "Teletubbies"

This show begins with the rising sun and ends with the sun's set. "Teletubbies" was one of Britain's most popular children's shows. It featured four very weird, brightly colored characters that rolled on the ground, cooed and participated in other activities that babies enjoy.

This show was only taped on days when the sky was blue and the sun was bright, so filming was canceled on overcast days.
3. In the show, "Spongebob Squarepants", what is the name of Spongebob's starfish friend?

Answer: Patrick

Created by Stephen Hillenburg, "Spongebob Squarepants" is a children's show about a sponge and his fish friends that live at the bottom of the ocean. The creator, is a marine biologist. And he'd rather do this show?
4. What daytime talk show had a security guard named Steve, who went on to host his own show?

Answer: "Jerry Springer"

"Jerry Springer" was an hour long talk show where people with big problems and small minds came to air their dirty laundry on national television. I see it as a trashy, classless, unbelievably offensive show featuring people from the bottom of the barrel discussing their sordid lives on TV.

These people fight over men with two teeth and long hair filled with gnats. It also features grown adults in diapers. Steve Wilkes went on to host a show that was strikingly similar to Jerry's.
5. Which of the following soap operas features a witch named Tabitha?

Answer: "Passions"

"Passions" is an hour long soap opera based on a few different families all connected in one way or another. This show started out all right but then became a laughingstock to most people with good taste in television. Within the first few years of its first air date, some of the characters on "Passions" had already "died" and "come back to life" three or four times.

Then, one girl went to hell and came back, was nearly killed about ten times, while others have been possessed, etc., etc. Give me a break!
6. Peter Aronson is the executive producer of "The Brady Bunch".

Answer: False

No, believe it or not, Peter Aronson is the executive producer of a show that's even worse than "The Brady Bunch". Peter Aronson works on "The Bernie Mac Show". This show is basically about Bernie Mac and his "unique" parenting ways. He often speaks directly to the camera during the show. (Talk about tacky.)
7. Which children's show is hosted by someone named Steve?

Answer: "Blue's Clues"

"Blue's Clues" is a children's show that features an animated, blue dog leaving paw prints on different items. The idea is to guess what activity Blue wants to do for the day. She leaves blue paw prints on different items that will give Steve a clue as to what it is she wants to do. Anyone else hope she puts her print on a big pink slip?
8. Which of the following shows is based on the life of a heavy metal singer and his family?

Answer: "The Osbournes"

"The Osbournes" is a reality show based solely around Ozzy Osbourne and his family. The show tries to portray Osbourne as a "typical millionaire" when he's anything but. His family is eccentric, to say the least. In fact, it is rumored that "The Osbournes" only happened in the first place because of the MTV show "Cribs". Apparently, MTV and the crew from "Cribs" were so impressed with Ozzy's house, family and eccentricities, they offered him a contract for a reality show based on him and his family.

Hence, "The Osbournes" was born.
9. One show that I find awful, is a commercial-free show on a major cable network about a mob family. To find its name, answer this question: What kind of singer can sing one octave above alto?

Answer: a soprano

Take about ten bad actors, throw in some corny dialogue, bad plots and mix it all up. Yes, it's the recipe for "The Sopranos", one of the worse shows I've ever seen. This show is about a mob family, (I use that term loosely) and the events of their lives. How this show is such a smashing success is beyond me. They give Italians and New Yorkers a bad, bad name. Not to mention HBO.
10. Which show is about an adolescent Clark Kent?

Answer: "Smallville"

"Smallville" is a show about a young Clark Kent before he was actually Superman. The show dates back to his first encounters with his enemies and friends. As if "Lois and Clark" wasn't bad enough? I can tolerate "Superman" but this is really too much.

I apologize to those of you who actually like any of the above mentioned shows, and hope you don't take any of it personally. But, really, can you justify the poor quality of any of these shows? Nah, I didn't think so.
