Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To which Chinese city did teams travel in Leg 11?

Answer: Macau

In the beginning of Leg 11, the remaining four teams departed from the Pit Stop at the Hong Kong Jockey Club and boarded a turbo ferry to take them forty miles to Macau, China. Once at the ferry terminal on the other side, teams had to find a rickshaw driver who would give them their next clue, taking them to the Macau Tower. Because the tower wouldn't open until 10:00am, many of the teams became bunched together.
2. Which team used the Yield in Leg 11?

Answer: Oswald and Danny

When teams reached the sixty-first floor of the Macau Tower, teams found the final Yield of the race and Danny and Oswald used their Yield to hold Danielle and Eric back (as a favour to Dustin and Kandice, who gave them money in return for them to do it).

This was the second time during the race where Eric and Danielle were held back by the Yield. After this, teams reached their clue box, which contained a Road Block.
3. Which team member did not complete the Road Block in Leg 11?

Answer: Danielle

For the Road Block, team members need to first run around the outer deck of the Macau Tower, nearly sixty-one floors above the street level. Then the chosen team members needed to perform the highest free-fall ever performed in the race; a drop of more than 660 feet. Kandice, Danny, Charla, and Eric completed the Road Block for this leg of the race before obtaining their clue sending them to Lou Lim Ieoc Garden.
4. In Leg 11, the 'Noodle' Detour task was completed by two teams.

Answer: False

After teams arrived at Lou Lim Ieoc Garden, they received the Detour clue- a choice between 'Noodle' and 'Dragon'. In 'Noodle', teams had to travel two miles to a restaurant and flatten and cut dough to make noodles. Once the head chef approved of the noodles, they'd obtain their clue. Dustin and Kandice, Eric and Danielle, and Charla and Mirna completed this task.

In 'Dragon', teams needed to travel to a warehouse and obtain a dragon head and a drum, then deliver them to a dock at the lake. Oswald and Danny completed this task.
5. Which team was first to arrive at the Pit Stop in Leg 11?

Answer: Dustin and Kandice

After the Detour, teams made their way to Mini-Mokes parked in the streets of Macau. Teams were told to drive this to the Pit Stop across the river on the island of Taipa. Once teams arrived at Triho de Taipa Pequena 2000, they could find the mat. Dustin and Kandice were first to arrive and they won Yamaha Waverunners. Eric and Danielle arrived second, but were held back to the fact that they were Marked for Elimination. Luckily for them, Danny and Oswald did not arrive in time.

Instead of being eliminated, they too were Marked for Elimination.
6. To which destination did teams travel in Leg 12?

Answer: Guam

In Leg 12, teams left the Pit Stop at Trilho de Taipa Pequeña 2000 Park and were instructed to fly more than 7,500 miles to the Pacific island of Guam. Once teams arrived, they needed to drive nine miles to Anderson Air Force Base, and wait until morning.

At 7:00am, teams were given an escort to the Flight Control Tower where they could ascend the stairs inside to find their clue at the top.
7. How many teams completed the 'Engine Care' Detour task of Leg 12?

Answer: Three

At the top of the control tower, teams found their Detour for this Leg, giving them a choice between 'Engine Care' and 'Care Package'. In 'Engine Care', teams were told to run to a nearby runway where they needed to fully wash an engine pod and a wing elevator and get approval from a sergeant to receive their next clue. Dustin and Kandice, Eric and Danielle, and Oswald and Danny completed this task.
8. How heavy did teams' packages need to be in the 'Care Package' Detour task of Leg 12?

Answer: 500 lbs.

In the second Detour choice, 'Care Package', teams needed to go to a nearby runway and fill a box with half a ton of care supplies. Then, they needed to board a cargo plane and perform a thirty-minute care package training exercise (while experiencing zero-gravity). Once the team landed back on the runway, they could receive their next clue. Only Charla and Mirna completed this task.
9. Which team member did not complete the Road Block of Leg 12?

Answer: Danny

After the Detour, teams traveled twenty-one miles to U.S. Naval Base Guam where they were escorted to the Road Block clue. Teams chose one member to search far and wide. They were given a GPS system and told to follow it to find a hidden soldier. Once this person was found, they would get another set of coordinates and they would need to find a launch area where they could call and board a helicopter that would take them back to their partner at the starting point. Dustin, Danielle, Charla, and Oswald took on this task.
10. Which team was eliminated in Leg 12?

Answer: Oswald and Danny

After the Detour, teams were instructed to travel eleven miles to the Pit Stop at Fort Soledad. The first team to arrive at the final Pit Stop was Dustin and Kandice and they were the first to be taken into the Final Three. They won a pair of ATVs for placing first in this Leg of the race. Oswald and Danny, who were also marked for elimination, couldn't catch up after falling behind in the Detour and were eliminated from the race.
11. On which Hawaiian island did teams receive their clues in Leg 13?

Answer: Lanai

In the beginning of the final leg, teams departed from the final Pit Stop at Fort Soledad in Guam and raced across the Pacific Ocean to Honolulu, Hawaii. Once there, teams drove to Kamaka Air Hangar to reserve seats on one of three charter flights departing ten minutes apart from each other.

Then, teams flew one hundred twenty miles to Lanai, where they found their next clue at Kaumalapau Harbour.
12. How many teams completed the 'Under' Detour task of Leg 13?

Answer: Two

At the Harbour, teams obtained their Detour clue which forced them to choose between 'Under' and 'Over'. In 'Under', teams had to take a boat to an underwater cave, then swim in and dive down to obtain their clue. Dustin and Kandice and Eric and Danielle completed this task. Charla and Mirna completed 'Over', which required that they stand on a board and paddle told a buoy in a nearby inlet.
13. What was the final destination city of the race?

Answer: San Francisco

After the Detour task, teams were required to travel to Shipwreck Beach. Once teams crossed the island to this point, they obtained a clue telling them to kayak out to a buoy next to the shipwreck. After fighting against the strong waves and current, teams obtained their clue telling them to return to Honolulu and fly to San Francisco. All three teams were stuck flying in on the same flight.
14. To obtain the final clue, team members needed to open a safe. How many digits were required to enter for the safe combination?

Answer: Four

Once teams arrived in San Francisco, they were required to head to the Old Mint Building where they would begin their next task. This involved three team members (Eric, Dustin, and Mirna) to go into a vault and answer four questions relating to other teams.

This would correspond to a four number password that would create a safe combo. The second teammate would then have ten minutes to complete the task.
15. Which team won "The Amazing Race: All Stars"?

Answer: Eric and Danielle

After obtaining their final clue, teams raced to the finish line at the San Francisco Botanical Gardens. After a very close finish, Eric and Danielle were able to maintain the lead they had from the Old Mint (Danielle was the only one to open her safe) and they were first to finish the race.

After twenty-eight days, forty-five thousand miles, and five continents, Danielle and Eric won "The Amazing Race: All Stars" while Dustin and Kandice came in second and Charla and Mirna arrived in third.
