Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 9, the final four teams traveled to what Argentine city?

Answer: Buenos Aires

Starting the penultimate leg of the race in the morning in Dubrovnik, Croatia, teams needed to catch a flight to the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. Upon landing, they needed to locate a cab and take a trip to a polo ranch in Lujan known as Estancia Las Bétulas.

There, they would find their next clue. All four teams ended up flying to Argentina, thousands and thousands of kilometers southwest from Croatia, on the same flight arriving the next morning.
2. The Road Block in Argentina in Leg 9 involved working with which animals?

Answer: Horses

Reaching the polo club in Argentina, teams found the Road Block waiting for them. In this challenge, one member of each team needed to be selected and they needed to 'horse around'. For this, they had to direct a horse and carriage to a marked part of the ranch, then saddle and dress their specific horse to prepare it for a polo match.

When they did so to the approval of a rancher they could get their next clue. Sally, Daniel, Ashleigh, and Carla completed this task.
3. During the Detour task in Argentina in Leg 9, teams had the opportunity to learn what type of dance?

Answer: Tango

After the Road Block, teams needed to travel by taxi to Buenos Aires' most dramatic bookstore, the former theater of El Ateneo Grand. Upon their arrival, they would be able to locate their Detour clues, a choice between 'Tango' and 'Tribute', In 'Tango', teams needed to go to Pasaje de la Defensa to learn how to dance the tango.

In 'Tribute', however, teams had to follow a scavenger hunt led by clues found in books and around the city, ultimately ending at the grave of Evita Peron in Recoleta Cemetery. Sally and Tyson and Daniel and Ryan completed 'Tribute'; Ashleigh and Jarrod and Carla and Hereni completed 'Tango'.
4. Before checking in at the Pit Stop in Leg 9 in Argentina, teams needed to ride in which of these?

Answer: Rowboats

Completing the Detour task, teams were told to head by taxi to the town of Tigre where they would need to locate the Argentinean Rowing Club. Upon arriving, they needed to hop into rowboats and take themselves across the water to their island destination, The Tigre Club, formerly a rowing headquarters but now an art museum.

There they would be able to find the final Pit Stop of the race.
5. Which team was eliminated in Argentina in Leg 9?

Answer: Carla and Hereni

Arriving on the Pit Stop mat in The Tigre Club, the first team to arrive in this leg, for their first time during the race, was Ashleigh and Jarrod. As a result they ended up winning a trip for two courtesy of Virgin Australia Holidays to the island of Bali, Indonesia for a eight-day stay in a five-star destination.

They also won themselves a spot in the final three racing for the grand prize. After falling behind at the start of the Detour, it was Carla and Hereni, the last Kiwi team standing in the race, who arrived in last place by rowing the wrong way down the river to the Pit Stop.

They were the final eliminated team, placing fourth.
6. In Leg 10, teams visited which American city?

Answer: Los Angeles

Starting the final leg of the race, teams headed out from Tigre, Argentina and headed to the airport to fly to LAX in Los Angeles, California in the United States. Teams had to search the car park for marked Mustangs and then drive themselves to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

There, they needed to take Polaroid photos with three different movie lookalikes, all of whom were portrayed by famous Australian actors. When they had the photos taken and approved at Ray's Photo Lab they could get their next clue.
7. In the United States in Leg 10, teams needed to eat which of these?

Answer: Hot dog

Bringing their Polaroids to Ray's Photo Lab, teams ended up collecting a clue sending them to the original Pink's Hot Dogs restaurant on La Brea Avenue in Hollywood. Each team member needed to eat one loaded hot dog to collect their next clue. To the teams' surprise, they were already heading off to their final destination, Australia, and to do that they had to make their way back to LAX and receive updated tickets on business class to their final destination.
8. What was the final destination city as visited in Leg 10 of the race?

Answer: Melbourne

Flying back to Melbourne, teams ended up arriving making their way to the flights waiting for them at Moorabbin Airport. There, they were able find a clue on the Fly Walkway at Great Otway National Park in Apollo Bay, nearly two hundred kilometers southwest of Melbourne. Upon finding this clue, they ended up embarking on a three-part task involving Air, Land, and Sea. For Air, teams hopped into helicopters to find a mystery word-- Loch-- which would allow them to land. For Land, they had to receive a clue and unearth an item from a large sandcastle. For Sea, they needed to paddle into the water off the beach to get a final item leading them to their next clue destination.
9. The final Road Block task was a memory task involving which of the following aspects of the race?

Answer: The Pit Stop greeters met

Teams' Air, Land, and Sea items spelled out the next destination: Loch Ard Gorge. Taking a taxi there, teams found their next clue on the cliffs overlooking the natural wonder-- one last Road Block. For this task, the selected team members (Sally, Ryan, and Jarrod) needed to recall the Pit Stops visited in the previous nine legs of the race, specifically the greeters they'd encountered.

When they'd placed items attributed to all of the greeters in order they would be able to receive their next clue.
10. Which team won "The Amazing Race Australia: Australia vs. New Zealand"?

Answer: Daniel and Ryan

Following the final Road Block, teams needed to race on foot to the Finish Line at the end of the Great Ocean Road at Muttonbird Island Lookout. There, it was Ryan and Daniel, who pulled back ahead at the Road Block to land on the Finish Line in first place.

They became the third winners of "The Amazing Race Australia" and took with them the $250,000 grand prize. They were followed very soon after by Sally and Tyson in second place and Ashleigh and Jarrod in third. In the end, the podium was dominated by Aussie teams.
