Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Frank is shocked that the MacDougalls do not have something in their house. What is this thing they are missing?

Answer: A television

Upon arriving in Pennsylvania, Frank quickly tells Hank and Pat to show him the room where they keep their TV. Hank says that they do not have a TV, which confuses Frank. Debra says that they can just sit and talk instead, not needing a TV. Raymond doesn't seem too thrilled, but they start talking anyway.

After not saying much, Raymond asks for an emergency radio, which Debra yells at him for. His rationale is that they need a radio in case the President cancels Thanksgiving.
2. What role does Peter want to play in the pageant?

Answer: Squanto

Every year when they were kids, Peter and Amy would perform the "MacDougall Family Thanksgiving Pageant". Pat offers it to the children, who do not seem too thrilled about the idea once she explains. But she offers candy as well, and they happily go in the other room to prepare and have candy.

While Pat is explaining, Hank informs them that Peter will be playing Squanto again; just like he did as a young boy.
3. Ally comes to get her mother's help because the boys are doing something. What are they doing?

Answer: Putting glue in each other's hair

Ally comes in to get her mother's help by explaining the situation. Debra doesn't seem too surprised and actually finds humor in it. She says that she is surprised that the boys hadn't started acting up earlier, and then offers to help Ally "stick them to the wall". Because of this, Debra is absent for the incident with the bird, and the resulting argument.
4. Pat is worried about what Marie will think about something in the MacDougall household. What is this thing?

Answer: Her cooking

Pat offers Marie some appetizers, which Marie denies wanting. Hank says that Pat was worried about what Marie would think of her cooking. Though obviously pleased by this, Marie wonders why her opinion matters. She says that she likes Pat's cooking and goes with Pat into the kitchen to check out the rest of the food. Referring to the incident with the twins, Raymond tells them not to put glue in each other's hair.
5. What do Frank and Hank bond over?

Answer: Naps

Frank comments that he could take a good nap in the seat he is sitting in. Amy tells him not to get her father started. Frank believes that Hank is against naps, but Amy informs him that her father loves naps, too. They discuss the best place to take a nap. Frank asks if Hank goes under the covers when he naps on a bed.

When Hanks says he doesn't go under the covers, Frank informs him that if he took a nap in a bed, he'd get under the covers... but his pants wouldn't join him.
6. What was the name of Raymond and Robert's bird growing up?

Answer: Tweety

After a bird crashes into the MacDougall house, Raymond brings up his old pet bird by saying, "Remember Tweety?" Robert smiles and agrees. He says that he'd trained Tweety to fly to his shoulder when he opened the cage. He then claims that it was because Tweety thought he was a tree.
7. What does Pat do to the bird that hits the house?

Answer: Snaps its neck

When Pat returns to the family room, she doesn't have the bird with her. Frank asks what happened to it. Pat says that she took care of it. When no one understands what she means, she says, "You know..." and makes a noise while twisting her hands. The Barones are disturbed by this information and a battle is started.
8. What does Peter suggest doing to prevent birds from hitting the house?

Answer: Cover the house with mattresses

When it is discovered that Pat has a lot of experience with snapping the necks of birds who hit the house, Frank says that they should do something to warn the birds and prevent them from hitting it. Peter's response is that if they cover the house with mattresses, the birds would just bounce off. Frank is not amused by this and asks if Peter is making fun of him, before calling him "Cocoa Puffs".
9. When a rodent gets into the cellar, what do you not want to do, according to Pat?

Answer: Bang it with a shovel

Pat says that she hadn't wanted to kill the bird, but she had no choice. She compares it to a mouse getting into the cellar. You don't want to do that, she claims, but you do anyway because you have to. The Barones seem even more repulsed by this piece of information.
10. Why does Frank like animals?

Answer: They tell it like it is

Hank points out that Frank cares about animals more then people. Frank agrees and says that it's because they "tell it like it is". He then proceeds to 'moo', 'woof' and 'quack' at the MacDougalls. Frank calls this "straight shooting". Amy thinks that Frank is being crazy, which she brings up when Robert tells her not to get involved.
11. What pet did Peter have as a kid?

Answer: Snake

Peter currently has a pet cat named Miss Puss. When he was a kid, however, he had a snake. Amy mentions this when telling Robert that he must think she is a killer too. She says that she'd catch field mice to feed the snake. Later on, Hank says that he wishes they still had a pet snake. When Marie fears that he wants to feed them to snakes, Raymond says, "No snake is that hungry."
12. What character does Raymond play in the pageant?

Answer: Squanto

The twins say that they want their father to play Squanto. Peter is not happy with this and argues with them. He takes off his shirt to reveal that his chest and stomach are already painted with the proper paints. He says that he was Squanto as a child, so he should be Squanto again.

He tries to take the costume away from the twins, who fight back. Angered, Raymond steps up and rips his shirt off. He says that he's going to be Squanto. Peter finds this amusing and decides to sit back and enjoy the show.
13. While reading his lines, Hank says that the pilgrims are going to protect and help out the natives. What is Robert's reply?

Answer: "Lies"

In the pageant, the Barones are the Indians and the MacDougalls are the Pilgrims. Robert's response is, "Lies, they're going to screw us." He most likely says this because of the argument going between the families.
14. Everyone takes a side in the fight about the bird. What side does Debra take?

Answer: MacDougalls

Robert and Raymond take the Barones' side, while Amy and Peter take the MacDougalls' side. When Debra demands an explanation for how they are all acting, she is told about the bird. She doesn't think it's a big deal that Pat killed the bird. Debra says that there is nothing Pat could have done otherwise, because it's not like Pat could have performed CPR on the bird. Marie doesn't seem to approve of Debra's choice and says, "You never liked us." Having heard Debra's explanation, Robert switches sides.
15. What stops the family squabble?

Answer: Dinner is ready

While Debra is taking the MacDougalls' side, Pat disappears into the kitchen. She comes back at the end of the argument and announces that dinner is ready. Despite his earlier anger, Frank tells Pat to break off a leg for him. The feud, and the episode, ends with that.
