In this episode, Blanche is going through the registry books for the hotel which date back to 1985. She sees that a regular customer by the name of Miles Webber once frequented the hotel. Assuming he is cheating on Rose, Blanche tells Rose about the books.

After Roland, the manager of the hotel, sees Miles, he confirms that Rose's Miles is not the customer that stayed at the hotel. Relieved, Rose makes amends with Miles, only to find out that Miles wasn't so faithful afterall. He tells Rose that he met a waitress named Fern and fell in love with her. Unsure over whom to choose, Miles' decision is made for him when Rose breaks up with him.

In a later episode, Rose is helping a woman plan her cow-themed wedding, only to find out the woman is Fern, and she is marrying Miles.

Chuy shows up to work, with a new wife. Wedded in drunken bliss, the two barely know each other and Chuy regrets his mistake immediately. Just when Chuy decides to ask Beverly for a divorce, her Ramone shows up. Ramone tells Chuy if he breaks Beverly's heart, he's a dead man.

When Chuy works up the courage to tell Beverly anyway, she informs him that she is really in love with Ramone and that the wedding was a prank. She had a fake minister marry them, only to make Ramone jealous.

Answer: Oliver is Roland's foster son

Roland adopted Oliver and moved him into the hotel where Roland is manager. In a later episode, Oliver's mother returns to try and take Oliver back.

Rubin shows up at the hotel and tells Blanche he is looking for a position in the kitchen. Blanche hires him as a cook, not knowing who he is. When Chuy sees him, he orders him out of the kitchen, not wanting anything to do with him. Blanche finds out her insurance on the hotel has been canceled, so firing Rubin is out of the question. If he were to sue her for firing him without reasonable cause, Blanche, Rose and Sophia could lose the hotel.

Therefore, Chuy is stuck working with Rubin, the man that stole his wife away from him.

By the end of the episode, Chuy forgives Rubin and the two become friends again.

Vivan is actually the name of a disillusioned old lady that turns up at "The Golden Palace". After eating in the hotel's restaurant, Vivian tells Rose she can't pay her bill because she forgot her wallet. Rose becomes attached to the woman, just as she figures out that the woman is very confused and seems to be lost. Rose calls the police and after a brief screw-up (the police take Sophia away when they mistake her for Vivian), Vivian is reunited with her daughter, Charlene. (Incidentally, Charlene is also the name of one of Rose's grandaughters, who makes an appearance in a later episode.)

Blanche, Rose and Sophia fall under the impression that Roland is in need of a girlfriend. From some misconstrued information from Oliver, the girls find out that Roland was crazy for a girl named Tricia and possibly still has feelings for her. Unfortunately, after the girls send out a telegram to Tricia, inviting her to the hotel in Roland's name, they find out that Roland's worst nightmare is Tricia. Seconds later, Tricia arrives.

Answer: Charlene

Charlene and her boyfriend, who are vacationing in Miami, stay at "The Golden Palace". Charlene confesses to her grandmother that she is thinking of having sex with her boyfriend. Rose spends the episode trying to prevent them from being alone and eventually, talks Charlene out of it.

Answer: Shady Pines

When Dorothy shows up at the hotel, she tells the girls she has come to bring her mother back to Georgia to live with her and Lucas. The three girls begin to fight over Sophia and ask her to make a decision. Torn, Sophia runs away from the hotel. She checks herself into Shady Pines, where the girls find her and bring her back to the hotel. Later, they all decide it is in Sophia's best interest to stay at the hotel.

Stan fakes his death to avoid paying taxes. Devastated, Blanche, Rose and Sophia begin to mourn the man they ridiculed for nearly a decade. Sophia learns Stan faked his death when he pays a visit to the hotel. She tries to convince him to come clean and admit he's alive.

He refuses and Sophia, seeing the grief of his loved ones, tries to convince everyone that Stan is not dead. Thinking she's just in denial, no one believes her. When Stan comes to the hotel for a second time, Sophia tells him if he doesn't come clean, she will disown him and he will be dead to her forever. Stan walks out, and Sophia, though knowing the truth, tells everyone that Stan is dead, and never again tells anyone the truth.

All of these are names of episodes that aired at the end of the show's only season. "The Golden Palace" had great promise, but many viewers felt that something was missing without Dorothy. While the new characters seemed to fill the void for some, for others, it just wasn't the same.

The show had the same humor and emotional content as "The Golden Girls". It could have lasted longer if it had been given a chance, in my opinion. Three cheers for the cast of "The Golden Palace".
