Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which member of the team is not mentioned in the Mastermind book?

Answer: Sophie

This job is driven by a bombshell book covering the exploits of the Leverage team. Naturally, the team is worried that the book will blow their cover and make bringing bad guys to justice more difficult, as well as exposing past clients to danger.

Sophie becomes more and more incensed about not being mentioned in the book, until the fake mastermind makes her realize it was because Nathan never mentioned her to shield her identity.
2. Parker complains that what word is used to describe her abilities?

Answer: Legendary

Parker complains that page 93 states "The thief... is nothing short of legendary in her field."

"I mean legendary, come on," states the thief. Only Parker could find being legendary a curse because it presents no challenge. She even complains to the fake Mastermind about using legendary.
3. What is the "Let's go steal _____" in "The Mastermind Job?"

Answer: Our lives back

"Let's go steal our lives back," declares Sophie, despite the fact she is not mentioned in the book.

The goal of convincing fake Nate not to publish the book is actually completed rather quickly and easily, before it is complicated by the intervention of a Middle Eastern dictator.
4. What are the call letters of the television station the team steals in "The Mastermind Job?"

Answer: WQIS

WQIS does not exist in the real world, but if it did, it would be based in northeastern Kentucky.

The team arrives in hazmat suits and managed to hijack the station by claiming that there is an insect infestation in the building. Sophie poses as Hilda LaSalle, host of the morning show "Hello NOLA." She begins to plant the seeds of doubt in the author's mind about publishing the book.
Parker poses as a Russian FSB agent and Eliot as an escaped convict in order to ramp up the pressure.

WVUE is the Fox affiliate in New Orleans, WGNO is the ABC affiliate and WDSU is the local NBC affiliate.
5. What fictional nation does King Navid come from?

Answer: Zafir

King Navid of Zafir was overthrown in a democratic revolution, and was left with few assets after his ouster. That is why he is attempting to steal an artifact owned by his ex-wife. He needs the money to hire a private army to stage a counter coup and attempt his return to power.

King Navid was played by Nick Tarabay. He is probably best known as Ashur on "Spartacus." The Lebanese-American has been acting since 2000. His other credits include "Crash" (2008-09), "Believe" (2014) and "The Expanse" (2017-18).

Zamunda is the African nation in "Coming to America" (1988). Zemenia is an eastern European nation from the detective drama "Monk." Zahrain is the setting for the 1962 Yul Brynner film "Escape from Zahrain."
6. When Harry and the Mastermind are kidnapped, where do they wind up?

Answer: France

King Navid takes Harry and the Mastermind to the south of France, where his ex-wife Liliana lives. He hopes to steal a priceless artifact she gained in their divorce in order to finance his return to power.

The Leverage team brought down a Brique and Basil food truck from Paris to seek out the fake Mastermind. Meanwhile, Harry is being held hostage by the king's mercenaries. However, he used that to bond with the mercenaries, which enabled him to steal from the king's Swiss bank account.

Just FYI, the bank account number is 8389-10192-SUI. When the king's mercenaries discover he has no money to pay, they suddenly became surly.
7. What type of artifact King Navid is seeking to steal?

Answer: A jeweled scarab

The Zafir scarab is gold, bejeweled and worth $200 million according to the King.

However, the fake Mastermind noted that Liliana insured the scarab for much less than it was actually worth. Which indicates to the Leverage Team that the scarab on display is almost certainly a fake and that Liliana sold the real one.

Parker uses a balloon to trick the helium pressure sensors guarding the scarab. It works great until the balloon hits the floor and sets off the pressure alarms.
8. How did the fake Mastermind know Nathan Ford?

Answer: Worked with him at IYS Insurance

The fake mastermind was an accountant at IYS. Since Nate's former employer kept tight tabs on the Leverage team, especially through James Sterling (Mark Shepperd), it is no surprise that the accountant would have access to enough information to piece together a history. He wrote the book out of financial necessity after IYS laid him off.

The accountant paints a wildly different portrait of Nathan Ford than the person the members of the Leverage team knew. The accountant discovered that his superpower was being so boring that he could put anybody to sleep almost instantly. It came in hand when he had to distract the security team while Parker pulled off the robbery.

Joey Slotnick played the fake Mastermind. He has been acting regularly since 1995. Slotnick got his first big break on "The Single Guy" (1995-97). Since then, he has had recurring roles on "Boston Public" (2000-01). "Alias" (2002) and "Nip/Tuck" (2003-06).
9. What agency does Eliot tell Liliana he is working for?

Answer: Central Intelligence Agency

Eliot claims to be a CIA agent named Frank Farmer. He claims that his mission is stop Navid from assassinating Liliana. He gets Liliana to clear out the museum (clearing the way for Parker) by having her surround herself with the VIP guests. Unfortunately, Liliana considers Sophie one of her VIP guests, forcing the fake mastermind to distract the security guards.
10. What is the fake mastermind's real name?

Answer: Milton

The "Fake Nate" signs Sophie's copy of the book "Thanks for showing me my super power. Milton Friedlander." Sophie thanks him for giving her one last job with Nate.

The mastermind did exercise his kill clause on the book, preventing its publication. However, he does have to pay back his advance to the publisher.
