Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Basketball" (season 1, episode 5), who commits the "flagrant, personal, intentional foul" that causes Michael to end the game?

Answer: Jerry

This is the first appearance of Patrice O'Neal in the warehouse cast. On a personal note, I disliked the character of Michael Scott until the end of this episode. It highlights how "over his head" he is as the "boss" and how important it is to him to be liked.
2. In "Office Olympics" (season 2, episode 3), who wins the gold medal in Flockerton?

Answer: Phyllis

In this episode we are introduced to Steve Carell's actual spouse Nancy, who plays real estate agent and eventual love interest Carol Stills. It is also the first episode with Cousin Mose (Michael Schur), who wrote this episode.
3. In "The Carpet" (season 2, episode 14), which actor played the character who left the "prank" in Michael's office?

Answer: David Koechner

David Koechner appears with Steve Carell in the "Anchorman" franchise as Champ Kind (WHAMMY!). Paul Lieberstein (Toby) wrote this episode. Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak also wrote multiple episodes of the series.
4. In the episode "The Dundies" (season 2, episode 1), what song does Michael attempt to open the show with (with altered lyrics written on cue cards)?

Answer: "O.P.P." by Naughty By Nature

This is one of the episodes written by Mindy Kaling. Our real-life office, in tribute, has established the "Don't go in there after me" award, given on an annual basis at our Christmas party.
5. In the episode "Casino Night" (season 2 episode 22), Darryl teaches Michael some phrases to use with his black employees. Which of these is NOT one of those phrases?

Answer: Fluffy Fingers

Darryl does teach Michael about Fluffy Fingers in a later episode. "Fluffy Fingers", according to Darryl, is a technique by which gang members settle disputes by tickling one another. Then, they "go to church" and "get an ice cream cone". Darryl was apparently in the Crips, the Bloods, the Latin Kings, the Warriors, and the Newsies!
6. In "Beach Games" (season 3, episode 23), Andy wins the hot dog eating contest. Which team of employees does Andy lead?

Answer: Team USA

Creed, apparently unaware that food is being provided, eats a raw fish that he has caught in his hands. This episode was directed by Harold Ramis. Personally, it marks the first episode when I became convinced that Pam and Jim were never getting together, because it would ruin the "will they / won't they" tension that made the show compelling. Ha. Shows what I know.
7. In "Dinner Party", (season 4, episode 13), what gets thrown through the "very expensive" plasma TV, destroying it?

Answer: A Dundie

This episode gave us the marvelous "You have no idea the physical toll three vasectomies have on a person!" Michael is obviously miserable, but too proud of his domestic "achievements" to admit the truth. The episode ends with Jan carefully gluing his award back together. This is one complex relationship!
8. In "Employee Transfer" (season 5 episode 4), Andy interviews Dwight for admission into Cornell. By the end of the interview, Dwight has decided to withdraw his application and apply to:

Answer: Vastly superior Dartmouth

This episode, like many in the series, has multiple sub-plots involving multiple characters and situations. Holly and Michael break up on the was to Holly's new job, and Daryll tries to teach him to sing the blues. Pam meets Jim's obnoxious brothers and a prank goes awry. Andy and Dwight mock one another in increasingly bizarre ways. Undoubtedly one of the best!
9. In "The Boat" (season 9, episode 6), Dwight falls for a well-conceived prank, thinking he is on a radio program to discuss Dunder Mifflin. The paper mill foreman claims the paper is "not toxic...until it is exposed to air. Then it is very, very toxic!". Who voices the paper mill foreman

Answer: Pam (Jenna Fischer)

Probably the best of the episodes without Steve Carell. Guest stars Josh Groban as Andy Bernard's brother Walter Jr. Groban also makes an appearance in "The Garden Party", where he upstages Andy and sings with their father.
10. No "The Office" trivia quiz would be complete without a question from the greatest movie ever made, "Threat Level Midnight!" (season 7. episode 17). The soundtrack features songs by Michael's favorite recording artist. Who is it?

Answer: Billy Joel

What can I say? It is my favorite episode. "And I'm gonna go watch the movie with people who think it's great! And I'm sorry I called you a pain in the ass, I'm angry, and I love you". Sums up Michael in one quote perfectly. Written marvelously by B.J. Novak.
