Answer: The Greene family farm

Most of the season takes place on the Greene family farm, which serves as a base location for the group's search for Sophia. The farm has been in Hershel Greene's family for over 100 years and was relatively untouched by walkers. He lives there with his daughters Maggie and Beth, Beth's boyfriend Jimmy, and his farm hand Otis and Otis's wife Patricia.

Season 2 of "The Walking Dead" originally premiered on AMC in the United States on October 16, 2011.

Answer: T-Dog

Farmhands Otis and his wife Patricia also die in season 2, as do Tony and several members of his gang: Dave, Sean, and Randall. Beth's boyfriend Jimmy is killed rescuing Carl and Rick from walkers in the barn by driving Dale's RV alongside it so they can jump on top. Unfortunately, the RV is surrounded by walkers, and he is consumed. T-Dog does not die until season 3.

Executive producer Glen Mazzara assumed the role of showrunner for season 2 of "The Walking Dead," after Frank Darabont departed from the series.

Answer: Fort Benning

Shane wanted to go to Fort Benning when the group decided to go to the CDC. After the CDC was exploded, they decide to follow Shane's original advice and head onto Fort Benning, a U.S. military base about 150 miles outside of Atlanta. They never make it there, however, because Sophia goes missing and they end up at the Greene family farm and later the prison.

In later episodes, the audience learns Fort Benning was overrun by walkers toward the beginning of the apocalypse.

Answer: Dale

In "Judge, Jury, and Executioner," Carl runs off alone to the swamp and comes across a walker stuck in the mud. He throws rocks at it, and then moves in to shoot it with a handgun he stole from Daryl, but the walker becomes unstuck and lurches toward him. Carl, frightened, drops the gun and runs back to camp. Embarrassed and fearing he'll get in trouble, he doesn't tell anyone what happened. Later, the walker attacks Dale while he's on patrol and disembowels him.

Answer: Carl is accidentally shot by a hunter while looking at a deer

In episode 1 of season 2, "What Lies Ahead," Carl is shot while gazing at a deer. The hunter, Otis, who accidentally shot him brings Carl back to the Greene family famr for care where Hershel, a former veterinarian, treats him. In episode 4, Maggie and Glenn have sex at a pharmacy where Glenn is retrieving a pregnancy test for Lori, and Lori discovers she pregnant. Daryl finds Sophia's doll in episode 5.

Answer: The Trail of Tears

The Trail of Tears is the name given to the forced relocations of tens of thousands of Native Americans from their homelands after the Indian Removal Act of 1830. Daryl tells Carol how while the Native Americans were making the journey from their homes, the mothers wept for their children who were dying of starvation and exhaustion along the way. "So the elders," Daryl tells Carol, "they said a prayer; asked for a sign to uplift the mothers' spirits, give them strength and hope.

The next day this rose started to grow where the mothers' tears fell. I'm not fool enough to think there's any flowers blooming for my brother.

But I believe this one bloomed for your little girl."

Answer: He goes there to meet Maggie

Glenn and Maggie are keeping their relationship secret from Herhsel. Glenn passes a note to see if Maggie will meet him and suggests meeting in the hayloft of the barn. In episode 5, "Chupacabra," before Maggie can stop him, Glenn goes there and discovers the walkers that are being kept alive and locked inside.

They contain members of Herhsel's family, including Beth's mother, and he's been keeping them alive because he hopes eventually a way will be found to restore their humanity.

Answer: His own crossbow bolt

The crossbow bolt pierces Daryl's side. He ties it off to keep it in place, but after trying to climb the hill and tumbling down again, he passes out and awakens to a walker preparing to gnaw on him. He kicks the walker away and kills it, but soon another begins to descend upon him. He's forced to rip the bolt out of his side to use it to load his bow and shoot the walker.

Answer: Andrea

When Daryl returns from his search for Sophia after falling down the hill, haggard looking and lurching from his wounds, Andrea mistakes him for a walker. She's been practicing with a rifle and takes a shot, which grazes him. She apologizes for shooting him, saying, "I don't expect you to forgive me." He does forgive her, however, and dismisses her mistake as well intentioned.

This exchange occurs in episode 6, "Secrets."

Answer: Shane, Daryl, Glenn, Andrea, and T-Dog

In episode 7, "Pretty Much Dead Already," Shane, enraged at the news of the walkers in the barn, releases the lock and levels his gun, even though Hershel begs him not to hurt the walkers. At the time, Rick is helping Hershel to put a walker in the barn. He has the walker confined by a tool used to hold its neck and direct it.

As the walkers stream out, Daryl, Glenn, Andrea, and T-Dog join Shane in the shooting. Shane shoots the walker Rick is holding, and then Rick goes over to his wife and son and tells them to stay down. Dale comes up toward the end of the shooting, looking appalled. While the shooting is occurring, Herhsel is slumped in despair to the ground with Maggie behind him.

Answer: Randall

After the slaughter of the walkers in the barn, Hershel goes looking for a drink in town. Glenn and Rick go looking for him and meet up with a gang. As they're leaving, one of the members, Randall Culver, shoots at them from a rooftop. To get away from walkers, he jumps down, but he ends up impaling himself on a fence. They take him back to the farm to treat him and decide what to do with him.

Shane secretly retrieves Randall from the barn, leads him out, and snaps his neck. He then bangs his own head on a tree to make it look like Randall assaulted him to escape. He hopes while the group is out searching for Randall, he can kill Rick. Daryl and Glenn find Randall's walker form and are confused as to why it has no bite marks. (They do not yet know one can turn after dying without being bit.) Shane also kills Otis, in an earlier episode, by shooting him and leaving him to be devoured by walkers so he can get away.

Answer: Beth

Andrea contemplated suicide at the CDC, but Dale forced her out of the situation. Beth is distressed at having seen the walkers in the barn and because her walker-mother almost bit her. Beth is prevented from her suicide attempt by Maggie and Lori, though Andrea later leaves her unguarded to choose whether or not to try again. Beth locks herself in a bathroom, shatters the mirror, and uses a shard to cut her wrists, but she only makes a shallow impression, and Andrea smiles that she chose to live.

Daryl later throws Beth's suicide attempt back at her in the moonshiner's cabin where they play "I Never." Angered at her assumptions about him having spent time in jail, they fight, and he says, "I sure as *** never cut my wrists looking for attention."

Answer: By stabbing him to death

In episode 12, "Better Angels," when Shane threatens to kill Rick, Rick ends up stabbing him with his knife. Carl, who witnesses the scene, uses a handgun to shoot Shane's transformed walker body. The gunshot unfortunately draws a herd of walkers to the farm.

Answer: "I know the child in Lori's womb is not mine."

In "Beside the Dying Fire," Rick finally tells the group what Jenner told him at the CDC - that everyone has the disease within and will turn when they die. The group is bothered by the fact that Rick kept Jenner's secret from them for so long, and there are grumblings about Rick's leadership. Carol suggests to Daryl she'd rather he was the leader of the group, that she's looking for a "man of honor" to lead them, but Daryl replies, "Rick has honor." Rick responds to the grumbling by telling them, "I didn't ask for this." He never sought out leadership, but it fell on his shoulders. "I killed my best friend for you people." Lori is shocked by the confession.

He tells them that if they want to stay with him, they can, but "Let's get one thing clear.

This isn't a democracy anymore."

Answer: A katana

The woman who finds and rescues Andrea turns out to be Michonne, who will become a series regular starting in season 3. Michonne is played by a stand-in at the end of season 2, but Dania Gurira was cast to play the role starting in season 3.

Season 2 of "The Walking Dead" won an award for Best Television Presentation at the 38th Saturn Awards.
