Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What hit the Enterprise-D on two separate occasions making the ship lose power and stranding many people to whatever room they were in at the time?

Answer: quantum filament

Two quantum filaments hit the Enterprise-D, making the ship momentarily charged "as if the ship had come in contact with a live electrical wire". This had the effect of knocking out the computer and most power. Most people were isolated, and the captain was alone with three children (his worst nightmare).
2. Finish this O'Brien quote: "I don't know who to feel sorry for, the ________ or the _________."

Answer: captain kids

O'Brien said this just after he got off the turbolift and saw that the captain was being followed by the three winners of the science fair.
3. Where was the plurality of the senior staff trapped after the quantum filaments hit the ship?

Answer: Ten Forward

There is seven members of the senior staff. One was in a turbolift, one on the bridge, two in the cargo bay, and three in Ten-Forward. So the three people were the plurality (in other words, Ten-Forward had more of the senior staff than anywhere else). Those three officers were Riker, Data, and Worf.
4. What were the first names of the three science fair winners?

Answer: Marissa, Jay Gordon, Patterson

The three science fair winners were going to be going on a tour of the ship (abridged) including the arboretum and a science lab, I believe. However, after the accident, the tour included the battle bridge and torpedo tubes thanks to Patterson's request.

By the way, it's Jay *Gordon*, not just Jay. He makes sure Picard knows the difference when Picard accidentally calls him just "Jay." The "Flores, Graas, and Supra" are the last names of the kids, which happens to be the last names of the actors who played them.
5. What is the first stop on the science fair winners' tour after the accident?

Answer: battle bridge

Picard says, "Now we will finish our tour, starting with the battle bridge." It may not be an exact quotation, but it's the gist of it.
6. Why does it become urgent that La Forge and Crusher take action in the cargo bay?

Answer: A plasma fire starts

A plasma fire starts in the cargo bay when La Forge tears off a panel of the wall. It was exposing them to radiation, and although it took a while to take a toll on them, they needed to take action soon before they were too far gone to reverse the effects.
7. Molly gave birth to a little girl in the episode, and Worf delivered the baby.

Answer: False

It was Keiko who gave birth to Molly, not the other way around. On an interesting note, they thought that the baby was going to be a boy. What a surprise!
8. What was the name that Miles O'Brien wanted to name the baby?

Answer: Michael

Miles wanted to name it after his father, Michael, but Keiko wanted to name it after her father, Hiro. Riker jumped in and suggested his own name, William, and about then is when the quantum filament hit the ship for the first time. By the way, Kirayoshi happens to be the name of the O'Brien's second child on DS9.
9. What was the song that Picard and the children sang while climbing up the turboshaft?

Answer: "Frere Jacques"

Picard had stated that they needed a climbing song for the climb, and Marissa had suggested "The Laughing Vulcan and His Dog," but Picard had not heard of it, so he decided on "Frere Jacques."
10. While stuck in the turbolift, Picard had "recruited" the children into a small "crew." Patterson became an officer in charge of what?

Answer: radishes

Picard was going to leave Patterson out of the crew, but Patterson asked to be an officer. Picard couldn't say no, so he decided since Patterson's science fair project involved radishes, it would just make sense that his job should involve radishes!
