Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning of the episode our favourite family are getting ready for the Nuclear Plant company picnic. After trying to stop his children from fighting Homer stops to admire the gelatin dessert Marge has prepared for the picnic. What colour is it, and what items is inside the jelly?

Answer: Green with marshmallows

Mr. Burns had told Marge once that he liked the dessert she had made, so Homer requests his wife to make the same dessert to try and impress Burns a second time. Homer must have told several other employees of the success of the gelatin dessert as whole rooms in his mansion store nothing but jellies made by other people!
2. As they arrive at the picnic, they walk up to Mr. Burns who is given a card carrying their details. After identifying Homer, Marge and Lisa correctly, Mr. Burns misreads the name on the card for Bart. What does he call him?

Answer: Brat

After commenting that Lisa is "growing like a weed", Mr. Burns moves on to Bart and accidentally calls him "Brat". Still desperate to keep favour with his boss and having seen a fellow employee fired for his child's indiscipline, Homer ends up siding with his boss, saying, "Don't correct the man, Brat!"
3. Now past the challenge of the meet and greet with Burns the family are able to start enjoying the picnic and exploring the mansion grounds. Bart and Lisa race towards the fountain, but what is Homer shouting at them as they go?

Answer: "Be normal!"

Homer chases after his children shouting, "Be normal!" in a last ditch attempt to get them to behave, but his efforts are in vain with Lisa posing as a fountain ornament, whilst Bart sets a flock of swans on his father and throws a rock at him. Bart is quick to remind Homer that he can't lose his temper in front of his boss no matter what the kids get up to!
4. An announcement on the loud speaker bellows across the grounds to proclaim the start of the father/son sack race. The race is heavily rigged in Mr. Burns' favour, who competes by himself, but a rebellious Bart breaks free to try and beat him. Does Bart succeed in winning the race?

Answer: No

The employees are forced to remain a hop behind Mr. Burns much to the annoyance of Bart. He makes a dash for victory but Homer is still intent on protecting himself in front of his boss. Bart nears the finish line when Homer makes a despairing dive to stop him in his tracks, and Mr. Burns crosses the line to win the race.
5. To embarrass Homer further Marge has drunk too much of the alcoholic punch and is inebriated. Mr. Burns soon brings the picnic to a close and orders everyone off his property. The next day Homer insists on his family eating dinner at the table and instructs Bart to say grace. Instead of a traditional prayer Bart offers up, "Rub-a-dub-dub, thanks for the _____". Fill in the blank.

Answer: Grub

Annoyed at his son's blasphemy, Homer offers up his own pre-meal prayer: "Dear Lord, thank You for this microwave bounty, even though we don't deserve it. I mean, our kids are uncontrollable hellions! Pardon my French, but they act like savages! Did You see them at the picnic? Oh, of course You did, You're everywhere, You're omnivorous. Oh Lord! Why did You spite me with this family?!" Surprisingly the children don't mind this and after a quick "Amen!" they begin eating dinner.
6. To try and prove that not every family is like the Simpsons, Homer leads the family on a tour of other houses to spy on other families. After seeing that other families are polite and kind to each other, the Simpsons end up spying on their own house. Who tramples on their own flower beds by mistake?

Answer: Homer

After nearly being shot at by one family who hears their rustling, the Simpsons return to their house unaware that the "dump" they are peeping into is their own home, whilst Homer stamps on the "poor saps'" flower bed.
7. Homer ends up going to Moe's to drown his sorrows and narrowly avoids the police who are searching for somebody going around the neighbourhood snooping. An advert on the TV attracts Homer's attention for a "Family Therapy Center" run by which doctor?

Answer: Dr. Marvin Monroe

The gravelly voiced Dr. Monroe advertises his center as the sponsor of "All-Star Boxing" with a commercial that shows a family screaming at each other to "SHUT UP!". Monroe promises "family bliss, or double your money back!" and Homer immediately decides to take his family there.
8. To get his family into the therapy center, Homer needs to raise $250. His initial thought of the kids' college fund raises only $85, so in a desperate act to raise the money, Homer pawns what item?

Answer: The television

I'm not sure how a used TV can raise $250 but that may be why I'm not a pawnbroker. The family begs Homer to reconsider with Marge even willing to pawn her engagement ring, but Homer is determined to improve his family, and seeing a family walk happily out of the therapy center is enough to convince Homer that he's doing the right thing.
9. The first stage of their therapy is to draw their feelings about each other, the result of which doesn't paint Homer in a very good light. The next stage is for the family to get out all of their pent-up aggression. What does the doctor encourage them to hit each other with?

Answer: Foam mallets

After Homer is depicted as an "ogre" by his family, they move on to hitting each other with foam mallets. Bart soon finds that a more effective method is to remove the foam padding from the mallet and strikes Dr. Monroe in the knee with it.
10. Frustrated with the family's lack of progress the doctor decides he has to bring in the most drastic therapy he has to offer. This leads to one of the most famous scenes from the early "Simpsons" episodes as the family endure what?

Answer: Electro-shock therapy

The family are strapped to chairs with buttons in front of each other that shock other members of the family. The idea is for them to shock each other when they emotionally hurt each other, but it soon breaks down into a chaos of electrifying each other that threatens the electricity of the city. Dr. Monroe gives up and declares the family a lost cause, but the family reunite at the fact that they get double their money back due to not being cured.

The episode ends as they head off to buy a new television with their gains. Thanks for playing!
