Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first patient we ever see House treat in the clinics came in with what complaint?

Answer: Back spasm

"You're orange, you moron" would have to be one of my favourite lines! This patient comes in with back pain and leaves with the knowledge that his wife is having an affair. House is kind enough to share some Vicodin with him though - it will help with the back pain.
2. It is well known to fans that House hand-picked the team that he works with. Why did he choose Cameron?

Answer: Because she is pretty and intelligent

House sends Cameron and Foreman to search through Rebecca Adler's home for clues to her illness. It is here that Cameron learns that Foreman made better grades than her, attended a better school than she did, and that Foreman was chosen because of his juvenile criminal record. "What did you do, stab someone in a bar fight?" Foreman asks Cameron.
It upsets Cameron to know that she was chosen for her looks, and the scene where she confronts House is both touching and funny.
3. It's no secret that House hates doing his clinic time. In the pilot episode, in what year does House say that he will be caught up with the clinic time he owes?

Answer: 2054

Part of House's employment means that he has to perform clinic duty. It is, after all, a teaching hospital. House would prefer to watch his favourite soap opera "General Hospital" or play with his GameBoy SP rather than perform clinic duty.
4. In the episode "Detox", Dr. Cuddy confronts House with his Vicodin use, stating he is an addict. House states that he needs his Vicodin, as he is in pain. Who presents the idea to House for him to "Detox"?

Answer: Dr. Cuddy

Dr. Cuddy puts the idea to Dr. House about him cleaning up. Dr. House admits to Dr. Wilson that he is an addict, however, he is going to continue taking the Vicodin as it is not a problem. It was Dr. Wilson's idea for House to detox, but Cuddy is the one who presented it to him.
5. In the episode "Damned If You Do", Sr. Augustine presents with an illness that Sr. Pious states might be _______?

Answer: Stigmata

Sr. Pious tells Dr. House in the clinic that Sr. Augustine might have Stigmata, due to the wounds on her hands. Sr. Augustine is actually suffering with an allergic reaction to copper from an implant that she had a number of years prior.
6. In the "Pilot" episode, the main guest character is a kindergarten teacher the children refer to as "Miss Rebecca". What is the name of her friend?

Answer: Miss Melanie

Miss Rebecca tells her class that she made a new friend, but asked them not to tell Miss Melanie.
7. In the episode "The Socratic Method", we are introduced to a patient thought to have schizophrenia. What illness is she actually suffering with? (Hint - the illness shares a name with a member of staff.)

Answer: Wilson's Disease

Wilson's Disease is cause by too much copper in the bloodstream. It was diagnosed by the copper-coloured ring around the patient's cornea.
8. In the episode "Fidelity", which illness did the patient have?

Answer: African sleeping sickness

The patient in this episode is diagnosed with African sleeping sickness after the treatment for tularemia made her worse. Whilst the treatment for sleeping sickness cured her of her illness, it also revealed to her husband that she had been unfaithful, as neither she nor her husband had been out of the country.

Unfortunately, the husband's jogging partner had, and this is who she contracted the disease from.
9. What was the name of the benefactor, who gave a large amount of money to the hospital on the proviso that he be made Chairman of the Board?

Answer: Edward Vogler

Okay, it was Vogler. Every time I hear that name, it makes me think of the Vogons from "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy", hence the other names. Zaphod's last name wasn't Vogon (they were a race of aliens who enjoyed very bad poetry), but to me it sounds closer to Vogler than Beeblebrox.
10. In the pilot episode, we learn that House believes "everybody lies". Foreman comes up with a corollary to that theory. What is Foreman's corollary?

Answer: "People screw up."

Foreman's corollary comes up when the team are discussing Rebecca Adler's initial presentation, and diagnoses from her HMO and pathology lab where her blood work was done.
