Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Cortex Strikes Back", there are a number of colored gems that go along with the gray gems. The gray gems can be earned by breaking all the crates in the level. Colored gems are earned by doing something specific. Which colored gem is in "Turtle Woods"?

Answer: blue

"Turtle Woods" is the very first portal that can be seen during game play. The way to earn the blue gem is to first get the gray gem by breaking all the crates in the level. Then once the gray gem is in your possession, go back through "Turtle Woods" without breaking any crates at all. If you go through the level WITH the gray gem, and do not break open any crates, you will earn the blue gem.
2. In each of the 5 warp rooms Crash travels through, there are multiple portals with a crystal in each. How many portals or worlds are there in each warp room?

Answer: five

There are five total warp rooms, and in each warp room, there are five portals. That makes a total of twenty-five portals with one crystal in each. Each portal also has at least one gem in each; many of them also have more than one.
3. Dr. Neo Cortex is clearly the main nemesis of this game, hence the title. There are also other characters that Crash interacts with throughout the game. Does Brio appear in "Cortex Strikes Back"?

Answer: Yes

Brio does appear in this game, but he is not a playable character. Once you collect your first gem, Brio appears in a hologram and tells Crash that if he wants to save the planet, he should collect the gems, not the crystals. Brio tells him that if Crash collects all of the gems, Brio would be able to build a laser beam that would destroy both Cortex and his space station. Brio also tells Crash that if he does not collect the gems, he would be Brio's sworn enemy and that he would do everything he could to stop Crash.
4. On Crash's journey between warp rooms, his enemies attack him and attempt to take the crystals from him. Unless Crash takes an Aku Aku mask with him into the battle, he has no protection. There is one exception to this however. In which character battle does Crash receive an Aku Aku mask before the fight?

Answer: Komodo Brothers

The Komodo Brothers level is the only boss fight where Crash is actually given an Aku Aku mask. Otherwise crash is on his own when it comes to battling his enemies. The Komodo Brothers throw swords at Crash and attack him with a spin move. Avoid those, and they are pretty easy!
5. When Crash gets to the level with the purple/pink gem, Crash must find a certain spot in order to warp to the gem. To where is the spot Crash must jump?

Answer: onto Nitro crates

During the level, there is a spot on the right side that has a stack of Nitro crates that are fake. Once Crash jumps to the top of the stack of crates, he is warped to a sub-world where he must fight through a few enemies in order to receive the colored gem he is pursuing.
6. When you enter the second warp room, the surroundings are snowy and icy. Polar also makes an appearance right outside one of the portals. Polar gives you extra lives if you jump on him.

Answer: True

If you jump on Polar he will make his funny barking noises. Keep jumping on him and soon you will receive several extra lives from him. Thanks, Polar!
7. In each game featuring Crash Bandicoot, there are always one or two levels that are very unique to any other. Which of these are unique to "Crash 2"?

Answer: Crash flying with a jetpack

There are two levels in the final warp room that require Crash to fly with a jetpack to get through the level. Coco is not a playable character in this game; she's a playable character in "Crash Bandicoot Warped", which is the third game. Each of the other options are unique to "Crash Warped".
8. In each boss battle, the opponent that Crash faces has three bars of health. The only boss who does not have three bars of health actually has five bars of health. Who is this boss?

Answer: N. Gin

N. Gin actually has five health bars, where as every other enemy Crash fights only has three. N. Gin is inside a suit of armor that he constructed for the battle. He uses his arms and shoulders to control his armor. His armor shoots lasers from its hands and rockets from its shoulders to try and destroy Crash. Crash retaliates by hurling Wumpa Fruit at N. Gin when different parts of his armor are exposed and weak. Once the arms and shoulders are gone, N. Gin tries to blast Crash with a body laser which temporarily destroys the platform Crash stands on. If Crash avoids that laser and is able to hit N. Gin enough, his fifth and final bar of health disappears and N. Gin is left floating in space.
9. In the first warp room, the third level is called "Hang Eight". In this level, Crash must deal with water, man-eating plants, and jump across narrow points using hippos. There are seventy-four crates in this level, and most of them are in an area that can only be accessed by having the blue colored gem. How many crates can you open if you do not have that gem?

Answer: Thirty-four

Without the gem, there are only thirty-four crates that can be opened. The other forty crates can only be reached by jumping onto the blue platform that corresponds to the gem required. Once you get the blue gem, the platform will open to you. When you jump on the platform, it will take you to a sub-level where the other forty crates can be found.
10. In each Crash game, there are levels where Crash is being chased by something. In "Crash Bandicoot Warped", he's chased by a dinosaur. In "Crash 2", he's chased by snowballs and what other thing?

Answer: giant polar bear

The final chase that Crash has to deal with is a giant polar bear. The last polar bear that chases Crash is much faster than the others. Crash compensates for it by riding on Polar to outrun it.
