Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Kanto is a giant region. How many towns/cities and routes are there?

Answer: 10 towns/cities and 25 routes

On the Town Map key item, eleven major places are marked. However, only ten of them are towns or cities! The Indigo Plateau is not a town or city.
2. One of your key items are the Fame Checker, which records what you've heard about people. To unlock Professor Oak's message, how many people must you talk to?

Answer: Four

Talk to two aides, Elite Four Agatha, and Oak himself. Look for two other documents about Oak, and his message is unlocked. His message is as follows: "Why do Pokémon compete and battle so hard for you? They do so because they can see the love and trust you have towards Pokémon. Never forget that."
3. As you progress, you notice two Pokémon (Snorlax) are blocking some routes and are hindering your journey. Which two places are they on?

Answer: Routes 12 and 16

Those Pokémon are very bothersome. Because of them, you have to take the long path to Lavender Town. Fortunately, Mr. Fuji is in Lavender Town and will gladly give you the Poké Flute to wake the Pokémon up.
4. Saffron City is surrounded by guards. They will only let you in if you give them a specific item. What is the item?

Answer: Tea

An old woman in Celadon City will give you some hot tea. The guards complain that they're thirsty, and will gladly let you in if you give them the tea.
5. In the Celadon City Game Corner, one of the men will give you a Pokémon in exchange for coins. How many coins does a Dratini cost?

Answer: 2,800 coins

The cheapest Pokémon you can buy is Abra, for 180 coins. The most expensive Pokémon you can buy is Porygon, for 9,999 coins.
6. The Fuchsia City gym contains many trainers and a Gym Leader, who all specialize in the Poison type. How many trainers (excluding Koga) are in the gym?

Answer: Six

The Fuchsia City Gym's gimmick is that there are invisible walls that scatter the place. The gym's theme is based on ninjas.
7. Cinnabar Island is a small place with not many buildings. Which of these buildings does not reside on the island?

Answer: Dr. Fuji's house

Dr. Fuji (AKA Mr. Fuji) lives in Lavender Town. However, he was the founder of the Pokémon Lab.
8. At the Indigo Plateau, you see a familiar face: your rival. Which of these Pokémon does he not have when you first face him? (Note: He has different Pokémon depending on your starter Pokémon)

Answer: Tyranitar

If you chose Bulbasaur as your starter Pokémon, your rival will have Gyarados, Exeggcutor, and Charizard. If you chose Charmander as your starter Pokémon, your rival will have Exeggcutor, Arcanine, and Blastoise. If you chose Squirtle as your starter Pokémon, your rival will have Arcanine, Gyarados, and Venusaur. Of course, your rival's team will be entirely different the second time around, in which he actually does have a Tyranitar.
9. After defeating the Elite Four, Professor Oak will give you the National Pokédex. However, you need a certain amount of caught Pokémon. What is the amount?

Answer: Sixty

The National Pokédex is worth the effort. It has information on 386 Pokémon as opposed to the original 151 Pokémon your regional Pokédex had.
10. Which of these Pokémon are exclusive to "Pokémon FireRed" only? (Note: Other Generation III games included.)

Answer: Growlithe

Bellsprout is exclusive to "Pokémon LeafGreen". Oddish and Skarmory can be found in the other Generation III games.
11. Which corner of Kanto does Route 25 reside in?

Answer: Northeast

Route 25 is very far into the corner of Kanto. Bill's house is in this route!
12. Where does the Name Rater live?

Answer: Lavender Town

The Name Rater doesn't move anywhere in the sequel of "Pokemon Red & Blue",
"Pokémon Gold & Silver". This goes the same for the remakes, "Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver".
13. Where are Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres found?

Answer: Seafoam Islands; Power Plant; Mt. Ember

Moltres is only found in Victory Road in "Pokemon Red & Blue". In the remakes, the trio is spread throughout Kanto (with the exception of Moltres). Moltres is actually found in one of the Sevii Islands.
14. The three legendary dogs of Johto are found in Kanto. The Pokémon you find depends on your starter Pokémon. What starter Pokémon do you need to find Suicune?

Answer: Charmander

The legendary dog you find will always be super-effective to your starter. Suicune is a Water-type Pokémon, which is super-effective to Charmander's Fire type.
15. What is the name of the ticket that will give you access to all of the Sevii Islands?

Answer: Rainbow Pass

The S.S. Ticket gives you access to the S.S. Anne. The MysticTicket and the AuroraTicket give you access to Navel Rock and Birth Island, respectively.
