Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What are the names of the two rival families on Dantooine?

Answer: Matale and Sandral

The Matales and Sandrals were two wealthy families living on Dantooine. The fathers were caught in a bitter feud and had taught their kids to hate each other. However, one day, Rahasia Sandral and Shen Matale met alone and became friends, and fell into a secret relationship. Rahasia's older brother, Casus, also met Shen, and the two were becoming friends. Then, Casus went missing. It turned out that the young archaeologist was attacked by kath hounds while studying the Rakatan ruins of Dantooine. His father, Nurik, was enraged and instantly blamed the Matales. Nurik Sandral later kidnapped Shen Matale, and secretly held him hostage. Shen's father, Ahlan, blamed Nurik. The whole situation spiraled out of control with the two fathers hating each other, holding each other responsible for the disappearance their missing children, while their children tried to prevent the situation from escalating. If you chose the Light Side, you had the fathers sort out their differences, and convinced the two children run off and get married. Alternatively, if you chose the Dark Side, you had the fathers use their battle droids to kill each other and their children.

The Hidden Beks and the Black Vulkars were rival swoop gangs in Lower Taris. Kath hounds were wild animals that were native to Dantooine, and would attack most life forms and droids. Firaxin Sharks were found on Manaan. They could only be killed using a sonic pulse at close range. Mandalore is the name of the homeworld of the Mandalorians, the group that fought the Republic four years prior to the events in "Knights of the Old Republic". It was in that war that Revan and Malak became heroes of the Republic. The Sith were a group led by Force Sensitive beings who used the Dark Side. They were the faction that fought the Republic in the war during "Knights of the Old Republic".
2. Which two planets have an ascending/descending cut scene?

Answer: Kashyyyk and Manaan

When on Kashyyyk, you had to go down to the forest floor, on the surface of the planet. Whenever you traveled up or down, a cutscene played. Down there, in the Shadowlands, is where you found the star map and a few other surprises, such as Mandalorians and Zaalbar's father, Freyyr. This was also where Jolee Bindo, the Jedi Consular, joined your group.

On Manaan, you had to travel down to a secret research base on the Hrakert Rift. To do this, the Republic lent you a submersible. Whenever you traveled down to and up from the station, a short movie played. Down in the research station, you had to fight rogue droids and crazed Selkath. You found the Star Map on the ocean floor, but it was guarded by the Progenitor, a giant Firaxin shark. For Light Side points, you destroyed the facility, which was upsetting the Progenitor, and in turn causing all the Selkath and Firaxin to become more hostile. For Dark Side points, you poisoned the water to kill the Progenitor and save the station.
3. Which species were not known to be slaves to the Infinite Empire?

Answer: Massassi

Near the end of the game, you traveled to Rakata Prime and learned of the Rakatan's history. They were once conquerors and they ruled many worlds in what they called the Infinite Empire. They used enslaved species to build themselves temples (such as the one on Dantooine). We know that the Selkath were once slaves of the Infinite Empire as the droid in the temple on Dantooine spoke Selkath in order to better communicate with the slave species, and there was a Star Map on Manaan.

On Tatooine, if you brought a krayt dragon pearl back to the Sand People, you would have been given the opportunity to listen to a storyteller. In the Sandpeople history, they mentioned the Builders (the name used to describe the Rakatans) and how they used their machines to enslave the Sand People. The story teller also recounts the plague that started to wipe out only Rakatans (This is also said by the Rakatans when they tell you their story).

The Massassi were a species found on Yavin IV, and were responsible for constructing the massive temples on the moon while enslaved to the dark lord, Exar Kun. The Jedi fought Kun about fifty years prior to the events in "Knights of the Old Republic". There is no indication that they were ever enslaved by the Infinite Empire (although it is possible, as the Infinite Empire included 500 member worlds). In the game, you can travel to a space station orbiting Yavin where a rodian can sell you some rather rare and impressive items.
4. When you undergo your Jedi training on Dantooine, one of your tests is whether or not you have remembered the Jedi Code by finishing off each line as it is presented to you. Finish the first line of the Jedi Code. There is no emotion...?

Answer: There is peace

The Jedi Code is,

There is no emotion...
There is peace

There is no ignorance...
There is knowledge

There is no passion...
There is serenity

There is no chaos...
There is harmony

There is no death...
There is The Force

In order to pass the test, you have to memorizes the code (or keep guessing until you get it right) and complete each line as Master Zhar recites them to you.
5. Which group was holding Mission Vao's brother, Griff?

Answer: Sand People

You learned later that Mission's brother, Griff, went off to Tatooine to work for Czerka in the mines. His party was attacked, but his body was not found, so it was assumed that he was taken prisoner. Czerka did not want to risk anymore lives going off to find Griff (and he had signed a contract abstaining Czerka from any liabilities). If you talked to Mission constantly, and she told you about her brother, and you also encountered Lena, Griff's old girlfriend, you could activate the quest to go find him.
6. What does Griff ask for after you rescue him?

Answer: Credits

Right after you found Griff in the Sand People's camp, he'll be overjoyed at being released, but explained he does not have a single credit. You could choose whether to give him 100, 50, or no credits. No matter what, he was disappointed, and your decision will not give you any Dark Side/Light Side points.

After, this activated a new quest for you if you visited him at the Czerka office in Anchorhead. If you got him some Tach glands from Kashyyyk, he said he would be able to create a small batch of Tarisian Ale.

He said he knew someone who could synthesize anything once he had a sample, and could make Griff rich, considering Taris was destroyed and there would be no more Tarisian Ale for a while (though this plan also went sour).
7. What is the name of the fearsome darkside creatures that you fight on Korriban and Kashyyyk?

Answer: Terentateks

Terentateks were large creatures similar to rancors (some even suggest that they were mutated rancors). They feasted on Force sensitive beings, building immunities to The Force. There were datapads found on corpses near the Terenteks from three different Jedi who were sent out to hunt and exterminate the creatures from the galaxy. The one you fought on Kashyyyk was part of a side-quest, alone, and one you could fight with three party members. There were three on Korriban, two that you had to fight alone, increasing the difficulty of the fight considerably. You had to defeat these two creatures in order to gain access to the Star Map. The third one on Korriban was optional and could be found in the cave system. It was blocking the exit for some students who were fleeing the Sith academy. If you killed the creature, the students were able to flee, and you gained Light Side points.

Krayt Dragons were native to Tatooine and one guarded the Star Map. You could defeat it wit the help of a Twi'Lek hunter, who had set up a series of mines just outside its cave.

Rancors were large, carnivorous beasts. Luke Skywalker was forced to fight one in Jabba's palace in "The Return of the Jedi". Rancors, in this game, were found on Rakata Prime, and used as mounts by the Black Rakatan tribe.

The Selkath were the humanoid, amphibious species native to Manaan.
8. Which two planets have Sith bases that you have to infiltrate?

Answer: Taris and Manaan

The Sith bases looked very similar in architecture and style. The first one was on Taris, which you had to infiltrate in order to steal the launch codes to get past the Sith auto turrets. The second one was actually the Sith embassy on Manaan. There you had to infiltrate the base to recover a module from a captured Republic probe droid.

However, the Manaan base was also substantially larger than that of Taris. You could also find quite a few dark Jedi to fight for experience, and convince some Selkath youth to return home for another side-quest. Also, if you did not fight a certain Dark Jedi and retrieve his datapad, the judges on Manaan would have found you guilty of disturbing the peace, and had you executed.
9. In whose tomb on Korriban is the Starmap located?

Answer: Naga Sadow

Each tomb held a different quest. In the tomb of Tulak Horde there was an old Sith hermit. He captured you and Mekel and then asked you questions. If you answered his questions from a Sith's viewpoint, Mekel would have been tortured and you would have been spared (and you would have gained Dark Side points). If you purposely answered them incorrectly, you would have been tortured instead (Light Side Points). Eventually, you had to kill the old hermit and bring back his Sith Tablet for prestige at the Sith academy.

In the tomb of Rarka Ragnos, there was a rogue droid who was killing anyone who entered. The tomb was basically a long upwards hallway lined with droids. Everytime you were within melee range of one, the next one would also be in range, causing your character to constantly be engaged in combat until they were all destroyed. At the top, there was a door, and behind it, a room filled with more droids, and the rogue droid. If you approached the droid with a stealth unit equipped, you could have talked to it, and it would have requested that you shut down its combat functions. If you din't approach while invisible, he and his minions would have merely attacked you.

In the tomb of Ajunta Pall, there was an old Sith Force ghost. He spoke to you and gave you hints as to which of three swords used to belong to him. If you chose the correct one, you were not harmed, and you acquired all three swords. You could also give the sword to Uthar, later, for a prestige point, though this was not necessary.

The final tomb was that of Naga Sadow. This was where Yuthura and Uthar took you for your final test at the academy. Also, this was where you gained the Star Map. In this tomb, there were two challenges. One was a basic puzzle involving rings. The other was a pair of Terentateks (no easy feat to begin with) and you had to fight them alone. After these two tests were completed, you had access to the Star Map (after walking across a frozen pool of acid. After this, you fought either Uther, Yuthura, or both. Depending on who you fought decided whether or not you then had to fight the entire Sith academy when you returned.
10. Who built the Star Forge?

Answer: The Rakatans

Center to the plot of "Knights of the Old Republic" the Rakatans built the Star Forge, a massive factory that used Dark Side energies to power itself. It could pump out thousands of droids, and star craft in record times. It was with the Star Forge that the Sith were able to create a massively fleet, seemingly coming from nowhere.

The Rakatans had built the Star Forge some twenty thousand years before the events in "Knights of the Old Republic" at the pinnacle of their reign over the galaxy. After their empire fell due to the virus that targeted only Rakatans, many returned to Rakata Prime (also known as Lehon) the capitol of their empire. There their society degraded into warring tribal factions. Over the years, advanced technology was lost and the savage groups warred amongst themselves. Only one group, the Elders, retained the knowledge and civility of their ancestors. The Light path has you aiding the Elders, while the Dark path has you aid the barbaric, primitive Black Rakata tribe.
