Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Mission 11: Battle Above Taloraan. Like many planets in the "Star Wars" universe, Taloraan appeared to be a single-biome planet. Which planet from the "Star Wars" movies did Taloraan resemble?

Answer: Bespin (Gaseous)

Taloraan looked a lot like Bespin, the gas planet from "Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back". A floating city similar to the one seen in the movie could even be flown about. Kasan Moor commented that her squadron had scouted Bespin for an Imperial takeover, but it was too small.

Despite all craft taking off from a cruiser in space, not a single mission in "Rogue Squadron" took place in deep space (the closest was the Death Star trench run). Taloraan was the only mission in the game that did not have a "ground" of some kind.
2. Mission 11: Battle Above Taloraan. What was the Empire harvesting on Taloraan?

Answer: Tibanna Gas

On Taloraan, the Imperials and civilians were harvesting Tabanna gas, which was required for blaster and laser powerpacks. This was the same kind of mining operation Lando Calrissian was running on Bespin in "Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back". Rogue Squadron was sent in A-wings to disrupt the Imperial production, while avoiding civilian targets.

Cortosis and phrik were both alloys that could resist lightsabers. Bacta was a medicine.
3. Mission 12: Escape From Fest. Rebel commandos had managed to infiltrate an Imperial base, but were discovered during their escape. What had the Rebels stolen?

Answer: Three AT-PTs

Rebel infiltrators had managed to steal three AT-PTs (All Terrain Personal Transports), but then got trapped behind a gate. AT-PTs were relatively weak, and were attacked by AT-ATs, tank droids, and bombers. Only one needed to make it to the rendezvous to complete the mission, but all three had to survive to get the gold medal.
4. Mission 12: Escape From Fest. After the Rogues had escorted the infiltration team to safety, what was their next objective on Fest?

Answer: Destroy a research facility

The AT-PTs were originally stolen from Moff Seerdon's research facility. Once the AT-PTs were safely at the transport, the Rogues had to disable the shield around the facility, and then destroy it. It is entirely possible that the shield generator had been destroyed during the escort portion of the mission.
5. Mission 13: Blockade on Chandrila. In this mission, the Rogues were tasked with breaking a siege of a city on Chandrila. What was the Rogue's first task?

Answer: Escort a hover train to the city

The Rogues had to do all of these things, but the first was to escort a hover train full of supplies to the city, fending off TIE Bombers. Once the train reached the city, the Rogues had to shoot down the TIE Bombers over the city. Next, AT-STs attacking the evacuation shuttles had to be destroyed. Finally, the last TIE Bombers and some TIE Interceptors flying over the city had to be destroyed.
6. Mission 13: Blockade on Chandrila. At the end of this mission, Moff Seerdon spoke to the Rogues from his shuttle (with a large TIE Interceptor escort). Kasan Moor held a special hatred for Seerdon, and broke off to attack his shuttle. What did she do when Luke ordered her to come back?

Answer: She came back to defend the city

At the end of this mission was the first time Moff Seerdon spoke directly to Luke Skywalker. He tried to goad Luke into attacking him, and Kasan Moor started to fly after him. Luke kept a level head, knowing he had to stay back and defend the city. When he ordered Kasan to come back, she listened to reason and did so. The Rogues would have another chance to take down the Moff.

Chandrila was Moff Seerdon's home planet, as well as that of Mon Mothma, leader of the Rebel Alliance, played by Caroline Blakiston in "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi".
7. Mission 14: Raid on Sullust. Rogue Squadron was sent to Sullust to destroy an Imperial power plant. What kind of installation did the Rogues destroy?

Answer: A Geothermal Plant

The installation was set inside a giant semi-active volcano, with Imperial structures dotting the walls and few cool spots in the middle.

Sullust was not seen in the movies, but was mentioned in "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi". It was where the Rebel fleet gathered before commencing their attack on the second Death Star.
8. Mission 14: Raid on Sullust. The Rogue's primary target was called the Capacitor, but they were unable to attack it right away. What did the Rogues have to do before destroying the Capacitor?

Answer: Deactivate the deflector shield

The Capacitor was a large construct floating above the volcano, protected by a deflector shield. The shield was powered by a series of transmitters down in the volcano. Once all twelve transmitters were destroyed, the shield would come down, and the capacitor itself could be attacked.

Unfortunately, despite completing one of the more difficult missions in the game, it was all a diversion by Moff Seerdon to occupy the Rogues while he attacked Thyferra.
9. Mission 15: Moff Seerdon's Revenge. For the final mission in the main campaign, Moff Seerdon sent his forces to the planet Thyferra. Why was Thyferra so important?

Answer: It produced the medical substance bacta for the whole galaxy

Bacta was a miracle substance that could accelerate healing, either from physical wounds or diseases. In "Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back", Luke was put in a bacta tank after his encounter with the wampa on Hoth.

All bacta in the galaxy was produced on Thyferra. Everyone wanted to control Thyferra, but were hesitant to commit widespread destruction. That is, until Moff Seerdon sent the bulk of his forces to attack Rebel and civilian production instead of trying to capture it. In the final mission of the main campaign, the Rogues had to scramble to save as many bacta storage containers as they could.

Thyferra was the primary focus in "The Bacta War" by Michael A. Stackpole, taking place after the movies instead of in between them like "Rogue Squadron". Characters from Stackpole's books were used as default player names in the PC version of "Rogue Squadron".
10. Mission 15: Moff Seerdon's Revenge. Finally, Moff Seerdon decided to take on the Rogues himself. In what vehicle did Moff Seerdon fight Rogue Squadron?

Answer: A Sentinel-Class Landing Craft

After all other Imperial units were destroyed on Thyferra, Moff Seerdon appeared in his own Sentinel-Class Landing Craft to fight Luke Skywalker personally. His ship had stronger armour than usual, and was fitted with a laser cannon and missile launcher.

The grey shuttle was also difficult to see against the drab Thyferran ground and cloudy sky. Seerdon taunted players during the fight, but become more desperate as he took more damage.
