Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The lead character in the game is a man known as Travis. What is his last name?

Answer: Grady

Travis Grady is a trucker by profession, and the protagonist of "Silent Hill: Origins".

Harry Mason was the protagonist of "Silent Hill", while his daughter Heather was the protagonist of "Silent Hill 3".
James Sunderland took the lead role in "Silent Hill 2" and Henry Townsend was the main character in "Silent Hill 4: The Room".
2. In the first scenario of the game, Travis follows Alessa to her family home, which he discovers to be on fire. He rushes in to save her. However when he reaches her, she says something to him. What does she say?

Answer: "Let me burn"

Travis breaks into the house and finds Alessa badly burnt upstairs. She asks him to let her burn, but Travis insists that she go with him, and proceeds to carry her out.
3. Travis's first stop in Silent Hill town is the Alchemilla Hospital. After working his way through the hospital, he discovers a triangular object, which is the first of five pieces that make up the "Flouros". Which piece does he first find in the hospital?

Answer: Future

The Flouros is an object that summons the demon Sameal. It consists of a center piece, and four corner pieces. The first one you find is in the hospital, and is called the Future Piece.
4. Once Travis leaves the hospital, which is the next building/area that he can enter?

Answer: Butcher shop

Before Travis can leave the hospital, he speaks with Lisa who says that she'll be meeting Dr. Kaufmann at the sanitarium. Travis decides to head there next. Most of the streets have huge trenches running through them, and are rendered inaccessible. His route to the sanitarium therefore takes a detour through the butcher shop.
5. The Cedar Grove Sanitarium is one of the biggest and most complex buildings in Silent Hill (seems appropriate somehow). The Pill-box puzzle is a very complex and interesting puzzle in the sanitarium. In which room is this puzzle to be found?

Answer: Male infirmary

The clues for this puzzle can all be found in the male seclusion area, but the puzzle itself is in the male infirmary. The interesting thing about this puzzle is that the player needs to pay special attention to the clues before attempting the puzzle, because there is some level of lateral thinking required here.
6. The sanitarium chapter of the story culminates with Travis facing the memory of his mother, Helen, in the female seclusion area. After defeating this boss and finding the Past Piece, Travis finds himself in the lobby of the sanitarium, where he picks up the theatre ticket. Which of these areas does he not need to pass through in order to reach the theatre?

Answer: Public records office

You have to retrace your steps back to the butcher shop, then through the lumber yard, and take a detour through Greenfield apartments before you reach the theatre. You can go up to the door of the public records office, but the game won't let you enter until you have cleared the theatre chapter.
7. The theatre has various notes lying around describing the preparations for one of Shakespeare's plays that was to be performed there. Which play is it?

Answer: The Tempest

The characters described in the notes are Prospero, Ariel and Caliban, who are the major characters from Shakespeare's play "The Tempest". Alessa is said to have had a distinct dislike for the Caliban character. This is shown at the end of the theatre chapter, when she walks up to the defeated Caliban boss and kicks it.
8. Once you leave the Artaud Theatre, you have to pass through Andy's bookshop in order to continue on to the Riverside motel. Which weapon can you acquire in the bookshop?

Answer: Assault rifle

The hunting rifle is located at the theater in the long hallway at the back of the ground floor in the Otherworld. The shotgun can be found in the sanitarium, barring the doorway out of the patient belongings room, also in the Otherworld. The service pistol is inside the director's office in the theatre, but in the fog world.
9. The Riverside motel is filled with puzzles and artifacts. One of these artifacts is the Ornamental Dagger. Which room does this dagger unlock?

Answer: Nero room

The Cleopatra room is unlocked with a key found in the laundry room washing machine. Inside this room, you find a hole in the floor which leads to the Rose suite. The Nero room is unlocked with the ornamental dagger, and also has a hole in the floor, and this leads to the King suite.
10. There are multiple endings available for "Silent Hill: Origins". Defeating the final boss (Samael) reveals three possible endings.

Answer: False

"Silent Hill: Origins" does have three possible endings, but only two of these can be revealed by defeating Sameal. The third ending can be obtained early in the Riverside motel chapter, long before Samael is encountered, and thus he can be avoided entirely by opting for this ending.

(Note that only one ending is available on your first play-through though.)
