Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many BSAA Emblems can be found in the game?

Answer: Thirty

Found throughout most chapters of the game, BSAA Emblems are silver disks that Chris can shoot to accumulate. There are thirty in total, all hidden in occasionally off-the-beaten-path spots and some of which require certain weapons (or even grenades) in order to collect. BSAA Emblems don't result in any in-game bonuses as far as ease of completion, but you can collect them to gain access to figurines and costumes that would otherwise be impossible to collect.
2. There are a couple of keys that can be found when Chris and Sheva first arrive in the village in Kijuju. The first of these bears what descriptor?

Answer: Old

The Old Building Key is the first in a very small handful of key items (as in necessary, not literal key) that can be collected in "Resident Evil 5". Due to the linearity of the majority of this adventure, most items are used almost immediately, requiring next to no backtracking to advance.

The Old Building Key grants access to the second floor of a building (using some teamwork with your partner). Shortly after, in Chapter 1-2, you'll also find a Furnace Key. Literal keys go out the window by Chapter 2-1.
3. There are four slates collected in the Marshlands in Chapter 3-1. How many do you actually need to progress?

Answer: All of them

Chapter 3-1 is the most open of the game as it requires that Chris and Sheva navigate around the Marshlands in Kijuju. On one side of the waterway they'll find a doorway that requires four slates be inserted into it-- the Beast Slate, the Shaman Slate, the Raptor Slate, and the Warrior Slate.

There's a map next to the door that will point out where those pieces are, but by and large, all you need to do is boat yourselves to the different spots around the perimeter of the area.
4. Which of these is not an Emblem collected in the Worship Area in Chapter 4-2?

Answer: Soul Emblem

In another case of a specialized door getting in the way, Chris and Sheva need to navigate the labyrinthine ruins of the Worship Area beneath Kijuju in Chapter 4-2, collecting three circular emblems from different spots in the area to keep moving. Unfortunately for them, the Majini set to guard this stretch of the game are equipped with hyper-focused mirror devices that cause sunlight to be shot like lasers across different routes. Just one more thing to think about, I guess.
5. There are four keycards to collect on Wesker's freighter in Chapter 6. Which is the first to be used?

Answer: Crane Keycard

Sure, we may have done away with old, physical keys early on in the game, but the tanker needs keycards for basically everything (or so it seems). All of them are needed for advancement, but the Crane Keycard is earliest, allowing you to navigate past a section that traps your partner and blocks you from crossing the storage containers on the deck.

The Bridge Keycard is the last key item (of these) to use; it allows you to make your way onward into the bridge to fight Excella...or what she's become. Two final keycards, Hangar Keycard A and Hangar Keycard B, wait in Chapter 6-3.
6. Though this item won't appear in your inventory, it's critical that it's used against Wesker. Sheva will pick it up from a lab on the freighter. What is it?

Answer: Serum

When you finally catch up with Excella Gionne in Chapter 6, you'll end up stumbling across the all-important Serum PG67A/W as well, and though it won't be something you need to manually trigger it will be a critical item to use when you face off against Wesker in the extended final battle sequence on the freighter and in, at a later point, a volcano. Jill will let Chris know that Wesker is kept alive by the very serum that's being held, but an overdose will poison him enough to weaken him.

It's the only chance they have.
7. Two colours of Herbs can be found in this game. One is Red. What's the other?

Answer: Green

Green and Red Herbs have been staple curatives in the "Resident Evil" series since day dot and it's no surprise to see that they grow just as well in the hot climate that is Western Africa, at least for the sake of the series. Green Herbs do the typical job of healing Chris or Sheva for a certain amount of health while Red Herbs, unable to be used on their own, can be combined with Green Herbs to make a G+R Herb, in turn healing significantly more. Compounds are stronger! The only thing that heals for more is a First Aid Spray.
8. Early in the game, Chris can purchase the Melee Vest. Later on, he can also purchase which of these?

Answer: Bulletproof Vest

The Melee Vest is an interesting buy since, theoretically, you can proceed through the game (and finish it) without taking on this additional piece of armor. Most foes are up close and personal, so this defensive gear will reduce damage from physical attacks to half, and it can be bought after the first segment of the game.

The Bulletproof Vest, however, is a bit of a foreshadowing piece since it's buyable after Chapter 4-1, protects Chris from projectiles (ie. bullets) buy halving their damage, and it works well against Majini with guns. Yes, those show up.
9. Which of these causes more damage than it heals?

Answer: Egg (Rotten)

Although all of these eggs can be found, eaten, or sold for money between Chapters, all of them can also be useful as utility items in their own way with the White, Brown, and Gold Eggs being used to heal Chris and Sheva for varying amounts of health and the Rotten Egg being...well...awful. Chris and Sheva can still eat the Rotten Egg, but it'll harm them for half of their health.

Interestingly, you can also throw eggs at foes. A Rotten Egg will do significant damage to Majini. They hate 'em.
10. Two treasures in the game can be sold for 10,000 gold. One is the Heart of Africa. What is the other?

Answer: Soul Gem

In addition to selling items picked up and put into Chris and Sheva's inventory and in addition to actual gold drops from enemies and crates, you can locate numerous pieces of treasure scattered throughout each Chapter to fill your wallet, selling them each time you hit the shop and spending them on upgrades or new weaponry.

The Soul Gem is dropped by the Popokarimu the second time it's fought (in Chapter 4-1) while the Heart of Africa is only grabbed if Wesker is forced to flee during the Jill battle in Chapter 5-3. If he leaves casually, it won't appear.
