In 1980, a Namco designer, Tohru Iwatani, went out for pizza with several co-workers. After removing the first piece of his pizza, he glanced at the shape of the pie on the table. From this vision, the character Puck-Man was born. Eventually the name of our friend was changed to 'Pac-Man' due to fear of vandals scratching off a certain part of the 'p' on arcade machines to spell out a brand spankin' new word/meaning, if you catch my drift.
