Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Made by Konami, which Wii game involved a race known as the Eau?

Answer: Dewy's Adventure

Although Konami's first foray into the Wii system was with the 2006 title, "Elebits" which received moderate success as an early title on the system. "Wing Island", on the other hand, did not receive such good reception, but once again, it was released before "Dewy's Adventure", which was seen on shelves in September 2007.
In the game, players controlled Dewy, a water droplet that can change its state of matter, surroundings, and weather conditions using the Wii remote. Depending on the direction the remote is tilted, Dewy will move in a certain direction. The game also allows for numerous instances involving player customization
"Dewy's Adventure" received moderate reviews, but its unique system of controls wasn't enough to make it popular.
2. "MySims" was created by EA Games.

Answer: True

Created as a separate entity of Maxis' popular "Sims" franchise, "MySims" was a fairly popular title released in September 2007. The game places the majority of its focus on building houses, furnishing them, and interacting with other Sims in the area. Although the game isn't as in-depth as the real "Sims" series for PC, "MySims" follows a similar vein to "Animal Crossing", which would later be released in November 2008.
Online play is available through WiiConnect24 though it isn't on a grand scale as to allow all users to visit all other users.
The popularity of "MySims" also resulted in additional sequels. The first of which, "MySims Kingdom", was released in October 2008, and while it did improve on much of the technical flaws of the original, it was a slight bit different. It's notable difference is in the setting. "MySims Kingdom" is set in much more exotic situations and more focus is placed on gathering materials to build.
3. In which game does the player control a gingerbread man?

Answer: Ninjabread Man

Regarded as a flop, "Ninjabread Man" was released on the Wii in October 2007 and quickly fell by the wayside. Due to numerous technical issues and gameplay mishaps, the game was quite mediocre, scoring low on many critics' rankings.
The game involves a ninja gingerbread man out to defeat some bad guys, and while this platformer features many options of gameplay, it's not necessarily worth the trouble. Ironically, although it was released on the Wii two years after it was first released on the Playstation 2 and PC, it scored lower than both.
The game was created by Data Design Interactive, who are also known for their work on "Anubis 2", "Billy the Wizard: Rocket Broomstick Racing", and "Offroad Extreme: Special Edition", all of which did just as poorly.
4. Donkey Kong's first major foray onto the Wii was a racing game with which title?

Answer: Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast

"Barrel Blast" was a moderately successful game in the "Donkey Kong" franchise, and while it was originally made to make use of the Gamecube-exclusive bongo drum peripheral to control, it was later pushed onto the Wii's motion-sensitive system of gameplay. The game is fairly similar in concept to "Diddy Kong Racing" in terms of offensive items, but it features many different tracks spread over different terrains and includes numerous Kong characters from over the years.
"Barrel Blast" was made by Paon, as opposed to Rare (due to its purchase by Nintendo). While "Donkey Kong" games continued as a Nintendo-exclusive venture, games like "Banjo-Kazooie" and "Perfect Dark" eventually pushed their way onto the Xbox 360 despite being originally on the Nintendo 64.
"Barrel Blast" hit store shelves in October 2007.
5. Which game is subtitled "Quest for Barbaros' Treasure"?

Answer: Zack and Wiki

"Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure" was received quite well for a sleeper hit Wii game, and while it seemed like a game for younger gamers on the outside, the game had very refined controls and fun gameplay for users of all ages. Playing as Zack and using Wiki's magical abilities, the player must aspire to be a great pirate, and in doing this, they must complete tasks integral to becoming such a person. Actions are performed solely with the Wii Remote.
Released in October 2007 by Capcom, the game was one of the better-received of the Wii games for the Christmas season, but lost out to many of the larger titles like "Super Mario Galaxy" due to the popularity around the name.
Capcom is also responsible for the "Resident Evil" series which, by all means, is a stark contrast to "Zack and Wiki's" brighter atmosphere.
6. Which "Guitar Hero" title was first to be released on the Wii?

Answer: Guitar Hero III

Although "Guitar Hero" debuted on the Playstation 2 and "Guitar Hero 2" was the first game released for the Xbox 360, Nintendo never jumped into the mix until the franchise's third offering. Though it offered identical setlists to its other console counterparts, the Wii version differed in the controller. By placing the Wii Remote into the guitar controller, the player can make use of the controller's motion-sensitive scheme.
The Wii was added to the roster for most subsequent "Guitar Hero" games including "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith", which was released midway through the following year. Wii also saw the release of "Rock Band" in December of 2007. "Guitar Hero III" strummed its way onto Wii in October 2007.
"Guitar Hero III" was made for Wii by Vicarious Visions, known for making various Game Boy Advance games during the handheld's run, as well as the DS "Guitar Hero" games.
7. In October 2007, which game from the "Nintendo Wars" series was released on the Wii?

Answer: Battalion Wars II

Although "Famicom Wars" and "Advance Wars" are part of the same series of games, "Battalion Wars" was the only one to take off from its predecessor and release a console version for the Wii. "Battalion Wars 2" follows its Gamecube companion and takes the battle to the land, sea, and air. Multiplayer combat is greatly emphasized in this game as it makes great use of WiiConnect24 to connect players for co-operative and assault battles.
Though quite well-received, the game will really only appeal to war gamers and strategists as opposed to players who search for story/character-driven plots. Regardless, it's one of the few games of late 2007 to be published directly by Nintendo without cracking the one million sales mark.
"Battalion Wars II" was developed by Kuju Entertainment, who also worked on a couple of "EyeToy" games for the Playstation 2.
8. Which Wii game made by Rockstar Games was initially banned in the UK in 2007?

Answer: Manhunt 2

Although the game was banned prior to its release in 2007, the UK later released the game on Halloween 2008. "Manhunt 2", the follow-up to its 2003 predecessor was every bit as graphic as the original, and while the Wii version was similar in most senses to its other console counterparts, instead of allowing the graphic kill sequences to be viewed, they were blocked off by censors. Despite this, the game remains on the market as one of the most graphically violent, Adults Only games for sale on the retail market.
Rockstar North is well known for its "Grand Theft Auto" series which didn't receive a Nintendo version until "Chinatown Wars" for the DS handheld.
"Manhunt 2" was mixed in terms of reviews with some outlets praising the game highly and some giving extremely low scores for different reasons.
"Bully: Scholarship Edition" wasn't released on the Wii until March 2008 while "Resident Evil 4" released its "Wii Edition" in June 2007.
9. Which game franchise met the Wii with "Radiant Dawn"?

Answer: Fire Emblem

Despite being the tenth "Fire Emblem" game, "Radiant Dawn" was the very first for the Wii. The game follows "Path of Radiance" chronologically and features the same, unique style of gameplay as the other "Fire Emblem" games in the series. The game also fared well in the 2007 holiday season, the only difference between itself and other games being that "Radiant Dawn" made relatively little use of the motion sensitive Wii controls.
The game fared well in the reviews despite the lack of motion sensitive controls, but they noted the lack of difference between the previous games in comparison to the new one.
"Radiant Dawn" was created by Intelligent Systems, who were also responsible for "Super Paper Mario" and "Warioware: Smooth Moves' on the same console.
10. Which "Lego Star Wars" game was released on the Wii?

Answer: Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga

"Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga" featured both of the original "Lego Star Wars" games in one complete set in order to give players the full six episode experience of "Star Wars". Created by Lucasarts, it was the first "Lego" game to show up on the Wii (released in November 2007), though it was soon followed by "Lego Indiana Jones" and "Lego Batman" in the following year. Players could choose from many different Lego-themed characters from the films and visit many different scenarios to win the game. Lucasarts is known for numerous "Star Wars" themed games on various consoles. Though "Force Unleashed" was released on the Wii, it was not a Lego game.

The same can be said for "Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Lightsaber Duels", released in 2008.
