Answer: De Soto

The De Soto, named after a Spanish explorer from the 15th century, was a division of Chrysler from 1928 to 1961.
2. Which Soviet car comes from Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic)?

Answer: Tatra

Tatra was founded in 1850 and produced its first car in 1897. Tatra went bust in 1999, after years of producing exsclusively trucks.
3. Now, to mix things up, which of the following cars is not from Japan?

Answer: Hyundai

The Korean firm Hyundai was founded in 1947 as a conglomerate and broke up in 2003. One of the divisions that became a separate company was the Hyundai Motor Company. Hyundai, originally a producer of large machinery, made their first car in 1967, in cooperation with Ford. They made the first true Korean car, the Pony, in 1975.

Answer: DeLorean (DMC)

The DeLorean was the brainchild of John Z. DeLorean. It was produced in Dunmurray, Northern Ireland. The prototype was named the DMC-12, after its proposed $12,000 selling price, but the end price was much higher, so it was simply called the DeLorean. The DeLorean was made out of stainless steel, which supposedly made it a better time machine in the "Back to the Future" trilogy.
5. Which of these car companies is based in India?

Answer: Hindustan

Hindustan Motors was founded in 1942 in Port Okha, India, and moved to Kolkata, West Bengal, India, in 1948. Their most popular and famous model, the Ambassador, was first made in 1958 and is still being made today. It was never had a redesign, except for upgrading safety equipment, and is still based on the 1956 Morris Oxford.
6. Which of these is a Canadian?

Answer: Bricklin

The Bricklin SV-1 (Safety Vehicle 1) was designed by Herb Grasse, and the company was headed by Subaru of America founder Malcolm Bricklin. The idea was to make a safe, economical sports car. It was very safe, but far too heavy to be economical. The company lasted only from 1974-76, and then went bankrupt, after selling only 2854 cars. Canada issued a 45-cent stamp featuring a Bricklin in 1996, and a $20 silver Bricklin coin in 2003. Both sold out much quicker than the car!
7. Which car is from Iran, and indeed sells very well there?

Answer: Paykan

The Paykan, based on the 1967 Hillman Hunter, was fisrt produced in 1967. In 2005 it was replaced by the Samand. The Paykan is rather infamous for its shoddy build quality. The Paykan was sold with a Rootes Group 1725cc engine until 1978, when Peugot took over production and put a Peugot 504 engine in it.
8. Malaysia gave the world which car company?

Answer: Proton

Proton was founded in 1983. It was Malaysia's only carmaker until Perodua came along in 1993. They make a complete line of cars, SUVs, and trucks, most famously the Gen-2, Satria Neo, and Savvy.
9. Which of these car companies is Mexican?

Answer: Mastretta

Mastretta was founded in 1987. It produced mainly kit cars and busses until 2010, when it introduced its first real car, the MXT. The MXT is Mexico's third high-performance car ever, rivalling the Lotus Elise.

Answer: SEAT

SEAT was founded in 1950. It is headquartered in Barcelona, but it is owned by German Volkswagen Group. SEAT is the only Spanish car manufactuer that was the capabilities to produce and develop cars in-house. The SEAT 600 was SEAT's first exported model, and became the best-selling car in Finland from 1970-1973.
