A hag is an ugly woman, usually malicious or a witch, but doesn't have to be.

A hag can also (conflictingly) be a firm place in a bog, or a soft place in a moor. (So be careful and ask for clarification if someone refers to a hag out on the moor or in the bog - could be dodgy three ways...)
