What is the difference between royal and royale? Except the 'e' obviously!

Question #79329. Asked by mrsoliverwood. (Apr 23 07 8:08 AM)

"Royale" is simply the French feminine form of "royal." In English, it is sometimes used to add a touch of glamour or elegance to the name of something, as in "kir royale," a drink made with champagne and creme de cassis.

I can't help wondering if Mrs Wood was inspired to ask this by the recent Bond film or the recent presidential candidate.
