Then you have Canibus - Poet Laureate II Deep lyrics. Takes far more than one round to catch even half of it. Beyond simply listening - you have to HEAR it. Flow. Beats. Raw. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iUWGhnqBxM Reply #81. Dec 01 09, 4:58 AM |

I don't, for the most part, care for either. But I've got to make an exception for Ozzy Osborne's "Crazy Train". Something about that thumping, bohemian bass line give me incurable happy feet! Reply #83. May 19 10, 3:35 PM |

OK, Canibus is just pure raw lyrical talent there but admittedly doesn't appeal to everyone. So here's a hip-hop song for the ladies out there, something you all might find a bit more palatable. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9ySRfR98Bw Reply #84. Jun 02 10, 12:54 AM |

Rap is less noisy, but there are some terrible rappers out there. Metal is more noisy and 90% of metal is horrible. Rap wins. Reply #86. Aug 02 10, 7:32 PM |

90% of metal is horrible? You haven't heard much metal then. Reply #87. Aug 02 10, 8:06 PM |

Oh boy, I'm torn since both styles have definitely gotten worse. I'd have to say metal has delivered some of the best music over time. Reply #88. Aug 02 10, 10:28 PM |

Metal is still on its game. With so many sub genres how can you even compare metal to rap. Metal can go from weird glam hair metal to satanic death grindcore type of stuff. Does rap have that type of range? Reply #89. Aug 04 10, 4:13 AM |

Plug it in, I love metal rock! Singing too for that matter, rapping isn't really singing, talking to a beat. Reply #90. Aug 04 10, 8:37 PM |

If I had to choose between the two, it would be metal. One cannot make sense out of rap lyrics. Reply #94. Aug 17 10, 10:55 AM |

Never fear, beachbumb101. There is a translation out there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6H0i1RAdHk (I must say that whoever put that clip together - genius). I still can't stop laughing... Reply #95. Aug 17 10, 11:07 PM |

Thought the thread was supposed to be about music?, neither Metal nor Rap come under anything remotely like "music" IMO. Reply #96. Aug 18 10, 12:29 AM |

Metal music is far more then just fast guitars and yelling just as rap is more then rhyming obscenities. That being said I'd definitely pick metal in a heartbeat. Just because you don't like metal or rap doesn't mean that either is not music. I don't like prunes, don't know why some people would want to eat them, but I still acknowledge them as food. I’ll sit on the fence with this one. To any discerning ear there are good and bad in both. I find it difficult to understand how anyone can completely write both off. Think of the old game of paper Scissors, Stone. Paper raps the Stones, the stones blunt the scissors, scissors cuts paper! Reply #99. Aug 18 10, 6:00 AM |
