REDVIKING you and I may not see eye to eye politically but you do have pretty decent taste in music (the ones I've heard of anyway). I like most of the Rolling Stones' 70s music save the the three junk albums they put out in the middle of the decade. Almost everything from "Sticky Fingers", "Exile on Main St." and "Some Girls" would be near the top of my list. Brown Sugar All Down the Line Shattered Can't You Hear Me Knockin' (greatest song of all-time) Can't forget Zeppelin--Black Dog, The Rover,Nobody's Fault But Mine or Pink Floyd--Run Like Hell, In the Flesh, and the entire "Animals" album. There are so many. Boston came to mind immediately since they came out with More than a Feeling. Also Jethro Tull, Bad Company, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Led Zepplin, Kansas, Yes and the Moody Blues. That's just a sample! Reply #23. Oct 08 09, 2:15 AM |

I saw a documentry called Kraut rock on BBC4 the other night and that mentioned Tangerine Dream a lot and i would say there were one of the best acts of the 70s they were amazing way ahead of there times and definetely the founders of Techno they were more advanced sounding than Kraftwerk. Would have to agree that the 1970s was an amazing decade for music, probably equal to the 1960s. It's hard to single out favourites, but here's a few that spring to mind: (From USA) The Eagles. The Doobie Brothers. America (even though formed in England). Bread. Lynyrd Skynyrd. (From Britain) Led Zeppelin. Queen. Rolling Stones. Pink Floyd. T Rex. (From Canada) Rush. The Guess Who. Bachman Turner Overdrive) Reply #28. Nov 05 15, 6:55 AM |

Maybe it was because of all the pot I smoked in the 70s, I don't know, but I was into all the long-haired, outlaw rebel rock and roll maniacs like Judas Priest, Nazareth, Ted Nugent, Pat Travers, Robin Trower, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Styx, Yes, Sabbath, and, of course, Parliament. Shame on me! Reply #36. Feb 02 18, 7:13 AM |

Of course, how could anyone who lived in the 70s forget the amazing work done by cats like Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Elton John, Queen, The Ohio Players, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, The Moody Blues, The Stones, Earth, Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Rush, Three Dog Night, and the dawn of the almighty Van Halen? Slade Grossly overlooked and ignored by music historians yet they were the most successful UK band of the 70's. Also loved Sweet, Mud, Showaddywaddy, etc ... But Slade were the top band. It's a shame they are only remembered for 'Merry Xmas evrybody' Reply #39. Nov 20 18, 6:45 AM |
