Do you like the choice your parents made when they named you?Do you have nick name that annoys you, that stuck with you at school/work..
If you could change your name now, what would you like it to be?

Oh, and I forgot to add the odd ways people say or spell my first name. Regina, Ragina, ect. I've gound it easier to just go by Gina or tell people that you say it like it's spelled, Raygina.

I did change my name - I got divorced and needed a deed poll to revert to my maiden surname and changed my first name while I was there.

I will never be noticed with a name like David, and was the commonest name the year I was born. But I suppose if you need a name to be noticed there's probably something missing with your personality... And my middle name is no more interesting either (Andrew). And my surname was changed soon after I started school, but to my father's middle name so I'm now stuck with three first names, with the last being used as my first nearly as often until I left school.

My first name is okay but I loathe my middle name of Wendy. Mum was a massive Peter Pan fan and wanted to name me after a character...I suppose I'm lucky, it could have been Tinkerbell. Or Hook!

My grandmother was Danish and wanted me to have a Danish name - dad suggested Lurpak! Thankfully nobody took him seriously!

Gilli, my mother always said she thought about naming me "Wolfgang," regardless of my sex. I don't know how she decided that. Based on her reading and music proclivities, I ought to have ended up as "Piper" or "Skye." (And here I've come full circle, with my adopted "Lochalsh." We are our mothers, eventually.)

I mentioned earlier that I have a quite typical baby boomer's name, so I escaped relatively unscathed.

One more thing: I'm not a wolf, but I've been called a fox (though not in the last couple of decades. :(

I've always said half jokingly that my first name is the kind of "Hebrew" name that American parents give their boys when they're thinking of moving to Israel. (Our family moved there from DC when I was 20 months old.) I don't hate my name, though it's been a while since I've heard anyone pronounce it correctly (including my parents), and in non-Jewish circles I prefer to go by my middle name.

My late aunt changed her name to Cherry - and later married a Mr Pye!

I like my name, it's prettier than I am.

"And you wouldn't believe the number of weird and wonderful ways people find to spell Jonathan. :(" (Lesley)

Tell me about it! :) Johnathan, Jonhathan, Jonothon, Johnothon, Jonhothon, Johnathon, Jonhathon...I could go on to the really invalid ones :).

I don't mind my names, my first name and middle name are both Biblical and so aren't associated with any particular decade. I have in the past wished for a more unusual name and would have loved a French name despite having no French family.

My name's Helen and I can't really complain. It's not worth the effort and expense of changing it but if I did it would be to Eloise. Yep, after the magnificent Barry Ryan song :-)
Thanks to my surname which is pronounced Quizma I am called "Quiz", "Quizzy" "Quick Quiz" etc etc.. My beloved niece called me Ena when she was two years old and she still does at 21 yrs. No one knows why she started calling me that. It's a mystery. My nephew couldn't say Helen when he was two so I got Aunty Hen. He and his brother still call me even though they are now 10 and 8. I like it. Aunty Eloise would have been better... ;-)

I like my first name, especially the unique spelling, but could I have a more common middle name? (I think the only reason I like my fst name is the spelling.)
Thanks to my misspelling the name in grade school, I am Jazmee. My uncle calls me Kissy Face--don't ask me why--as does my one pen pal. My mom calls me Esmerelda (again, don't know why she started calling me that), one f my friends calls me Jaymes, and my mom calls me / (long story)... I like all the nicknames, except for Kissy Face and Missy (another of my mom's).

It doesn't really matter what you call me so long as you call me to dinner.

If my mother had known what my future husband did for a living, maybe she would not have named me LITERALLY after my dad. My nickname is Bobbie, but my real name on my birth certificate is Robert - no kidding. My husband was a career military man and we travelled and lived all over the world and many places in the United States. Getting my first passport was really a chore in patience. It had to be reissued 3 total times before some bureaucrat in Washington stopped adding an "A" to my first name. After that first passport, I just made certain to not let it expire so I wouldn't have to go through that misery again. I feel honored, though to know I'm named for one of the people that I most admired in my life.

I can't take credit for the "call me to dinner." It's an old saw, perhaps from Groucho Marx or W.C. Fields or their ilk. :-)

I'm very happy with my name.

My first name is only three letters and is one I like, and my last name is also only three letters which makes it easy to write.
